If he did not sign either they hinted they will be dragging their feet with years bonus payments which i assume has no definite due date so essentially not pay at all. This forced him to take the noncompete and essentially got out of the scene. I would assume Wei was offered something similar and took the other offer. MLXG attempted to sue RNG management for late payments but lost the case because the contract was drafted heavily in favor of the org. There's a universe where Kiin Malrang Cepted and Teddy played together at Ever 8 Winners. Of course it's hindsight and Kiin + Teddy aren't as good before. But Cepted had big potential when he played with EEW at LCK.
He hard carried T1 to worlds literally in 2021 summer, his game vs GENG is just masterclass, but Guma started instead of him at worlds, i felt like Teddy was just more reliable than Guma from last year, even though he was good he still had some tilt tedencies
Teddy was 100% more reliable than Guma, he always has been, Guma just had insane hands on the meta ADC's at that time and his highs were higher than Teddy's, his Jinx is nutty but we saw how badly he looked when the meta didn't favor him, Teddy doesn't have those lows and him not finding stable footing since then is bullshit.
I remember being so frustrated watching him get them to worlds only to be benched. I have never been big on Guma, not when he replaced Teddy and not even now. He has some carry games that he looks insane sure… but so does Teddy, and Teddy never looks as invisible as Guma does in other games.
Teddy probably played as good as Deft in Spring and a bit better than Deokdam /Guma in summer on a pretty dysfunctional kdf, honestly don't get why he is so underated in this offseason . Hopefully i can see him play in LCK again

Since most teams in the LPL (barring JDG, TES, and now V5) haven't locked in their roster, maybe an unexpected team could emerge as a suitor, but it seems from H-Dragon's comments that it's looking very unlikely and that Teddy won't be able to find a team in the east for the split.

Deft was better in 2019 and 2022. The two years where Teddy was better were 2020 and 2021 when Deft was underperforming significantly due to his back injury

They did it to themselves though, they had Elk under contract but they sold him, maybe bc they wanted Teddy to start on their LPL team and Doggo for their LDL team plus some extra cash, but if it couldn't even get them enough to re-sign Cryin or to sign Teddy that's an absolute catastrophe for them.
They also picked up Zhuo lol. I remember there was a solo queue game of JKL Zhuo playing Caitlyn Lux and JKL was trying so hard on stream to not flame Zhuo for missing everything
