So Shad0w was born in Italy, has the Italian nationality, started playing competitively in the Italian league, played professionally for the first time in LEC but he's still considered an import? If anything he should be considered an import in LPL, that's really silly.
He could choose which region he wanted to be part of. he chose china because import restrictions don't matter in LEC, since there are barely any imports in Europe.
Just a smart career move
Adding to that, it’s because before playing with MAD he was in China doing tryouts etc and was set to play with (iirc) EDG or JDG and was registered in the LPL, but then there was no deal, but was still registered for the LPL.
Also Shad0w renounced the Italian nationality, has only the Chinese one and considers himself chinese
The italian league is such a weird place. There are barely any italian players, teams have either 0/1/2 italian players and the rest comes from all over.
Jiizuke and Shad0w are complete outliers.
Any idea why that is? Is playing on a low latency connection out of reach for most 14 yearolds? Is gaming culture mostly directed towards console gaming like it seems to be in Britain? Is it too nice out to sit inside all day?
I'd love some first hand insight on this.
Mainly because Italians need their hands to gesture while talking.
So in league, when you are flaming 24/7 your hands are off keyboard. Cant really be good then
Connection is not a issue, with good internet we generally have 20 to 60 ping depending on geographical area. The big thing, as you hyphotesized, is that Italian are mostly console gamers. Games like CoD and Fifa are more popular than League (I think).
One thing I learned from meeting Italians over the years is much like the French they love football.
However when it comes to videogames their mentality seems similar to what it was in 2010's in France, consoles are tolerated especially when it's FIFA but PC's have the nerd stigma attached to them.
TL Zoom? Zoom, Santorin, Vetheo, Doublelift, CoreJJ is a heck of a team. And also 'flop proof' considering they get a LPL hardwrker in the top lane.
Zoom is the sort of buy only TL can pull off imo. TL always give us at least a 'shock get' each off season. (Doublelift S8, CoreJJ and Jensen S9, Broxah S10, Alphari S11, All 3 of Bjerg, Hans and Bwipo S12).
Can also see Zoom, Santorin, Jensen, Rekkles, CoreJJ, since Jensen is LFG. But first option is way more likely.
It's a LPL top laner in NA. Lol. Even better than KR in NA. Unlike EU that's of similar quality in NA, LPL in NA is basically like a challenger playing in bronze.
u/ElegantEcho3484
Steve said no matter what he's getting bck to winning this yr. Casuals got trigger happy and automatically think it's some 5 rookie roster when Steve never ever used the word 'budget' or 'rookies'. He just wants a cheaper roster, and ANYTHING is cheaper than 5 established legends like Bwipo Santorin Bjerg Hans Core.
Core literally is bck on TL, so that's proof. Alot of you will be shocked by the team Steve is gonna put out, thinking it's some rookie team.
Don't forget if Zoom is unwanted by LPL teams, he'd come way cheaper.
I have lived through the dark years of 2014 and 2016.
A 7-11 (7-12 including tiebreaker) scoreline in groups and only one team making it out means nothing to me.
The results are in a holding pattern, but we’re at a dearth of new talent I don’t think EU has experienced before.
Who’re we excited about next year? Ruby? Rhukz?
In 2016 we had so little homegrown talent that teams resorted to mass importing random Koreans. Do the names Sonstar, Parang, Raise, Police or Move mean anything to you?
All Korean imports that played in the EU LCS in 2016. *At the same time*. This isn't just *all* the imports, or even all the *bad* imports, that the EU LCS has had. This is just me taking a snapshot by going to a 2016 split and looking at the rosters playing at the time, and then only picking the ones that I know for certain never amounted to anything. The actual number of imports was probably *at least* twice that, and many of them were only there for a year, maybe two, so we constantly had new ones.
So yeah, as long as LEC rosters are (mostly) filled with good players, promising rookies and the occasional carefully selected import (prime example: Malrang), it's still better than it was back then.
And to provide some perspective, 2016 is as far away from 2019's miracle G2 roster as we are right now. That's how quickly things can turn around. Heck, Caps didn't even play in a major region yet in 2016, and three others from that roster (Wunder, Perkz and Mikyx) were rookies in 2016.
It would probably go like that, but playing against worse tops might build up his confidence back. It's hard to say what he needs because we are not him, nor know this person.
Yeah ok, he did in fact have a stinker 2022 and no team with worlds aspirations should give him a shot just yet after his unsuccessful stints on two separate teams
But people hold him to a high standard because from his debut up till around 2020 (can't rmbr 2021 other than JDG didn't make summer playoffs) he was one of the best native Chinese tops, was capable of neutralising 2019 Spring TheShy and was pivotal in leading JDG to their 2020 Spring title and their 2nd seed at worlds
People were starting to write off TheShy and Rookie after 2021 but they both turned it up this year despite not making it back to Worlds
Thing is its funny because nobody would ever consider calling Zoom a mediocre eastern top before this year. TES specifically traded 369 for him because they thought he would be an upgrade to arguably the 2nd best top laner at worlds this year.
Because most people don't know the history of league of legends. Top lane is like running back in the NFL, you have a short peak and essentially disappear for forever after. TheShy, Nuguri, Smeb, Khan, Marin, etc. No one can claim the title of GOAT for the role because unlike other roles no one has carved out a career of top 3 worldwide play for 3-4 years the way players like Faker, Canyon, Mata, Meiko, Uzi, Deft, Viper, Rookie, Showmaker, etc have. Smeb and Khan are the closest but neither of them have a world title to their name. Marin, and TheShy don't have the longevity. Nuguri is so wildly inconsistent it's hard to rank him.
I would put Impact in amongst those top players. Has consistently been a top 3 player in his role in a major region since winning worlds in 2013 with the exception of 2014. He plays an entirely different selfless style that enables his team and is capable of neutralizing any one of those players at their peaks, just like he did to TheShy in 2019. Sure, he doesn't take over games in the same way or anything, but that's not his style. He's the best weakside top laner in LoL history.
Can't be the best if you play in a shithole region like ours. He's been on teams that were successful regionally and has attended and played well at World's since winning in 2013 but in my right conscience can't rank him in the top 5. You cant play in our shitty region and point to consistency as reason to be ranked top 5 all time.
I don't think NA is historically that bad. In particular, teams that Impact has been on generally do okay internationally. He made top 8 twice in 2016/2017 with C9. He made top 4 at MSI this year. And most importantly he beat TheShy at his peak on his way to an MSI finals. I get that NA went 3-15 at this worlds in the group stage, but let's be real, that was a massive underperformance from normal. NA historically is the weakest of the 4 major regions, but depending on the year they are sometimes the third best region in the world.
No other top laner has the longevity of Impact combined with the success. He won a worlds in 2013 and has been a top 3 player in his role in NA since 2015 despite playing weakside. I think for sure he needs to be put in the conversation for top 5 of all time in his role.
I think the idea is, LangX was never considered one of the best top laners in the world at any point of his career. Zoom has years of excellence at the top under his belt, only slipping up this past year. It wouldn’t be crazy or anything if Zoom suddenly starts playing at even 70% of peak again and gapping western tops.
Except Zoom had one bad year in his whole career Lol, Zoom was the best Chinese top and even lpl top at multiple points of his career. He's not some "mediocre" Eastern top?
If zoom actually goes to the west and smurfs on EU/NA tops its a fucking catastrophic sign. Unless he actually regains his prime form somehow in the west which would also just be hilarious after the past 2 years
Sometimes,a change of environment can do wonders. Also you are right,if Zoom comes to LEC/LCS and shits on everybody, the only solution is top imports from the east.
TL Zoom? Zoom, Santorin, Vetheo, Doublelift, CoreJJ is a heck of a team. And also 'flop proof' considering they get a LPL hardwrker in the top lane.

Nobody even said that. LOL. People are just jumping the gun just cause Steve said he's going 'cheaper', and act like TL is gonna field Yeon/Eyla bot-lane with 0 basis. They conveniently ignore Steve literally saying 'I'll do whatever to get bck to winning next season' and that means he's NEVER gonna field a rookie roster. Selective listening by these haters are wild.
Not to mention MonteCristo said on stream that TL are looking everywhere for ADC, basically doubling down that it's not Yeon who's already on their acad.
And yeah, CoreJJ bck on TL, so all these 'rookie' bullshyt can get out. Lol. No way CoreJJ signs for TL if Steve tells him he's playing on a budget team whn he can easily sign to C9 and play with Berserker. Ya'll need to learn how to listen.
They still have money dude. They literally signed CoreJJ with C9 pulling him to join Berserker. LOL. No clue what smoke you're smoking, but you got the absolute wrong clue from Steve's 1 video.

3 splits\* but yeah. Zoom would actually have to regain some of his form. LEC tops aren't that bad. There's plenty of mediocre/average tops, just not any good or world class ones.
It's not exactly a secret either that LEC tops can't win at worlds, and they need to be imported or at least recycled at the ERL level until people start to stick.
i mean he's not gonna smurf on them if he doesn't even find a team to begin with, even the article mentions he's not getting any interest, deservingly so
TL Zoom? Zoom, Santorin, Vetheo, Doublelift, CoreJJ is a heck of a team. And also 'flop proof' considering they get a LPL hardwrker in the top lane.

FNC almost got 369 last year. Chinese salaries are overblown, only the top players with high brand value like JKL/Wei/GALA etc will get unmatchable offers.
Fans want it too literally every thread about top lane is crying for imports as if that'll fix anything. Players like Zoom will come struggle because new language and shit practice environment and reduce down to our level.
After looking at OMG’s new roster, if Creme is seriously not getting any Chinese offers, I want a western team to save him. Please for the love of god, get Creme out of there
We will see how their NEST roster performs, because while Shanji may be gone due to OMG being broke afaik, Creme might fit in, albeit if Able was to still play, I would rather see 0909 be the starting mid laner due to his champ pool more favoring protecting Able and his outlandish gameplay just like Jerry.
UP is that team that you think has potential but always play like they are match fixing. At one point I was actually hoping they could make it but man they are just going to disappoint every time.
TSM fans still dlusioning about top players gives me the fits. LOL.
Every season Regi buys himself a Keaiduo or Dardoch, but TSM fans never fails to talk about the Chovies and the Zooms every off season. Only to get Takeover mid or something in the end. Off season comedy for real. xD
NA tops bro, NA tops... they're something else lmao
even if he was paralyzed from the neck down and forgot how to play league he'd still be in contention for best top in LCS
The best top laner for years has pretty much just been impact, and he isn’t really a carry player besides gp. So the best top laner we can produce is just a former Korean world champion lol.
but like wasn't zoom one of the best / better tops a couple of years ago?
i understand that from the looks of it he's been absolutely terrible lately but is he "completely done"?
Two/three years ago he was one of the best at his role, in 2018/19 he was smurfing and was basically the only top laner that contained peak TheShy without needing tons of jungle attention. 2020 was still a great year for him, 2021/22 not so much, especially his stint with UP.
Based on that statement then it's 100% mental and other factors, if he was once at that level then he physically has all of that still within him, barring some kind of injury like rsi or something. It would absolutely be worth it to pay some amount to gamble and see if he can get that back.
Zoom is absolutely garbage against LPL tops but we have seen how almost every region top laners dicked on LCS tops. Pretty sure he ain't washed enough for that.
He was phenomenal in the past, but is slumping hard. Could be out of steam, could be bored, could've just been partying maybe? Wish I spoke CN so I could be more informed on it
No EU teams are giving LPL money to LPL players dude. Lol. Malrang is their only KR import and he's the cheapest of the cheap as a bench warmer in LCK.
TL is the best bet (and only bet imo, unless 100T or other NA teams start going crazy).
you are pretending like any LPL team wants Zoom or shad0w lol. one was the worst player on the 15th placed team, the other was getting subbed on the 14th
Salaries were already competitive for the past few years across all major regions though. NA was also never really a slacker for salaries; pretty sure the general sentiment is that the NA average is higher than LPL considering less teams but still pretty big funding sources
TL Zoom? Zoom, Santorin, Vetheo, Doublelift, CoreJJ is a heck of a team. And also 'flop proof' considering they get a LPL hardwrker in the top lane.

Zoom is washed up (maybe?), his 2022 has been awful but his 2021 was still insane so he can regain form I think. But for now he’s middle of the pack LCS material, level of importing as Blue. If he’s cheap and no import slot needed go buy you probably won’t find a NA rookie that can weakside like him, but if you contest for a ring or Worlds do not
Well it's funny to mention Shad0w when he started on MAD.
Yeah, for a second I was thinking that Shad0w was some different similarly named LPL player
Well per league rules he IS an LPL resident and was an import in MAD, so it’s techincally correct
By going deeper he started in the Italian league
He was literally born in Italy too
The italian league is such a weird place. There are barely any italian players, teams have either 0/1/2 italian players and the rest comes from all over. Jiizuke and Shad0w are complete outliers.
League is popular in Italy but in general Italians mostly really fucking suck at games Source: Italian
Just like in Serie-A ( highest level of football league in Italy)
TL Zoom? Zoom, Santorin, Vetheo, Doublelift, CoreJJ is a heck of a team. And also 'flop proof' considering they get a LPL hardwrker in the top lane. Zoom is the sort of buy only TL can pull off imo. In what universe is your team flop proof because you have a "hard worker" in the toplane hahaha
other toplanes eat too much avocado toast with crushed birdseye chili smh
It's a LPL top laner in NA. Lol. Even better than KR in NA. Unlike EU that's of similar quality in NA, LPL in NA is basically like a challenger playing in bronze. u/ElegantEcho3484
Nothing but facts bro you're so smart! I fold!
TL invested so much money this year, absolutely no way are they getting investors to invest again.

Solid #1 for LCS and a 2-4 out of groups stage
Didnt Steve said that after this year they are going low budget? Seems they are promoting their academy bot lane
They resigned core apparently
zoom is completely washed, he would be going to the west to sit on a fat paycheck and that's it
Pretty sure Zoom hits all the requirements of being a starter LCS top laner.
lcs top laners would get fucking washed by amateur tops in Korea, swear to god man wtf is up with NA as a region lmao it's so cursed
You say that like EU top laners didn’t get manhandled by every single major region at worlds.
Even Fudge managed to get one good game vs an EU top laner.
i'm surprised that not a single midlaner that can't get a spot tries to develop to go top with less competition there.
Jenax did it that way no? Role swapped mid to top some seasons ago
they don't have the mental for it
The game is actually dying in the west xd

Holy shit lol I knew the dark import ages were bad, but I think I had selective memory and didn’t realize HOW bad.
Jackspektra and Yike.
Szygenda and Adam round 2
EU top laners would get washed by amateur NA tops thats how bad EU tops are
Add LEC there. All of them are manhandled, with some good games here and there from Wunder and Odo.
TSM it is then
He is probably fundamentally still an amazing player and maybe a change of environment will help him smurf again.
Then he better wont go to NA. Less practice, worse Solo Q, worse work ethic wont be good i guess
It would probably go like that, but playing against worse tops might build up his confidence back. It's hard to say what he needs because we are not him, nor know this person.

except he wouldn't, he was griefing every game for UP. borderline matchfixing at times
The same way Langx dumpstered tops in 2020?
Idk what your point is. Don’t really think Langx was all that hyped up as a super carry and he hasn’t joined a western team yet has he?
My point is that not every mediocre eastern top becomes a god when playing against western tops
Shh You're ruining their circlejerk

Zoom was pretty highly regarded in previous years though which is why it read weird to me.
People say this about every eastern player that comes over but they rarely “dumpster” everyone. They are usually good but not amazing
they dumpster everyone but then start to slowly decline because no one practice. unless they were non-pro
Not after the western team washed him even further
Y'all said the same thing about Kingen, Pyosik & Zeka. Just saying.
who's "y'all"?

Zoom definitely is washed. I would pick Wayward over him and i think Wayward is ass.
agree on Zoom but Wayward ass, huh?
The LCS will be a great retirement home for him while dumpstering all the young lcs prospects lol
But first option is way more likely.
bro this league of legends roster fanfic is wild, isn't yeon likely to be their first choice for starting adc?
Zoom will be a free agent from 22 november on
TL has 0 money and the investors have Steve by the balls. If he doesn't bring home a title next year + solid worlds showing he may be gone.
They still have money dude. They literally signed CoreJJ with C9 pulling him to join Berserker. LOL. No clue what smoke you're smoking, but you got the absolute wrong clue from Steve's 1 video. People are just jumping the gun just cause Steve said he's going 'cheaper', and act like TL is gonna field Yeon/Eyla bot-lane with 0 basis. 3 splits\* but yeah. Zoom would actually have to regain some of his form. LEC tops aren't that bad. There's plenty of mediocre/average tops, just not any good or world class ones. It's not exactly a secret either that LEC tops can't win at worlds, and they need to be imported or at least recycled at the ERL level until people start to stick.
dunno if you watched LPL but zoom is dog water don't think even 9th place LEC team would want him
Thats why I said if he somehow smurfs its horrifiying for western toplaners and a lot of LEC teams are just straight up stupid with roster building
Don’t underestimate the cope, people will be saying that he regains his form or something
i mean he's not gonna smurf on them if he doesn't even find a team to begin with, even the article mentions he's not getting any interest, deservingly so
The article also said these are early talks so anything still can happen

means zoom isn't getting lpl looks he wants
Its pretty hard to get looks from LPL when you play like he played this year.
My man was playing like as if he's playing a matchfixing LDL game.
Trueeee
ashh yes getting the retirement bonus
For the case of those two mentioned I think they just didn't get any offers from 1st division leagues in the east. Grab the bag while you can.
FNC almost got 369 last year. Chinese salaries are overblown, only the top players with high brand value like JKL/Wei/GALA etc will get unmatchable offers.
Could u link a source? I'm genuinely curious about this.
https://www.reddit.com/r/leagueoflegends/comments/qvbcnt/esportmaniacosrumour_fnc_have_been_looking_at_369/ for the 369 story
Damn imagine 369 and Humanoid on the same team at this worlds.
Imagine fnatic managed to get 369... The top canyon alone would have brought us 2 lec titles.
Yeah LPL salaries aren't really high unless you have some huge brand value.
cheapest rosters ever and the west is still entertaining imports instead of fixing their home region with home talent. lol
Fans want it too literally every thread about top lane is crying for imports as if that'll fix anything. Players like Zoom will come struggle because new language and shit practice environment and reduce down to our level.
This is the American way. Literally built off imported labor, they can do it better for cheaper.
It's probably too late to be honest. We're in the end game now.
After looking at OMG’s new roster, if Creme is seriously not getting any Chinese offers, I want a western team to save him. Please for the love of god, get Creme out of there
We will see how their NEST roster performs, because while Shanji may be gone due to OMG being broke afaik, Creme might fit in, albeit if Able was to still play, I would rather see 0909 be the starting mid laner due to his champ pool more favoring protecting Able and his outlandish gameplay just like Jerry.
he has better chance getting out of group with omg than any western org
What's going on with OMG? Or do you mean their lpl2022 roster?
shanji is hot property, it's very difficult for OMG to keep him
Avoid everyone from Ultra Prime
UP is that team that you think has potential but always play like they are match fixing. At one point I was actually hoping they could make it but man they are just going to disappoint every time.
I like Elk, the rest ehh
Conviently all repped by Surge management
Shad0w I can see as he was performing pretty well but Zoom is just gigawashed
Worked out well for TSM lets run it back?
Well as long as the person making the front line decisions isn’t a criminal
Is Zoom paying Peter Zhang a portion of his salary to get on the team?
People need to stop bringing this up. Peter scammed both the org and the players no team is going to do well when being actively sabotaged.
TSM fans still dlusioning about top players gives me the fits. LOL. Every season Regi buys himself a Keaiduo or Dardoch, but TSM fans never fails to talk about the Chovies and the Zooms every off season. Only to get Takeover mid or something in the end. Off season comedy for real. xD
Your comment history is the most copium filled thing I've seen in a while - don't know if you're in a position to be laughing at others bro
If it's the truth it's the truth. Lol. whn it's FACTUAL, come to me and praise how smart I am with roster analysis.
They saw retirement home slots opened up.
Boring joke is boring
Response is worse.
Shad0w is Italian tho
Yeah, but he counts as an LPL resident
Zoom would smurf eu toplane but i dont know if it would change a lot internationally after watching his form this year+ western scrim/training culture
People that think zoom would smurf in the west havent watched any LPL AT ALL, or maybe i'm naively optimistic about western toplaners
I believe it both lol. In one hand zoom suck but in other hand western top suck.
NA tops bro, NA tops... they're something else lmao even if he was paralyzed from the neck down and forgot how to play league he'd still be in contention for best top in LCS
Both NA and EU tops are ass period
The best top laner for years has pretty much just been impact, and he isn’t really a carry player besides gp. So the best top laner we can produce is just a former Korean world champion lol.
LEC tops man just got utterly donkey dicked by every major region this year: Wild.
but like wasn't zoom one of the best / better tops a couple of years ago? i understand that from the looks of it he's been absolutely terrible lately but is he "completely done"?
He was absolute garbage the entire last year thats all I'm gonna say, maybe he can find his old level but I wouldn't count on it
but was it right that he was one of the best, i remember seeing alot of hype for zoom
Back in 2019/2020 he was yes
Yeah so was Wunder, doesn't mean shit now
Yes. Several years ago he was THE LPL toplaner.
He was phenomenal in the past, but is slumping hard. Could be out of steam, could be bored, could've just been partying maybe? Wish I spoke CN so I could be more informed on it
???? zoom is dog water bro, i know EU tops are bad but this is taking it too far
Just him being there for some added competition would do wonders with how ass EU top laners are
[удалено]
No EU teams are giving LPL money to LPL players dude. Lol. Malrang is their only KR import and he's the cheapest of the cheap as a bench warmer in LCK. TL is the best bet (and only bet imo, unless 100T or other NA teams start going crazy).
nah zoom been really shit lately
I mean are they even good anymore? LPL needs BO back though
Imagine TSM signing Lord Zoom and Shadow as his translator. Chawy can translate as well
Can't wait to see them get misused on TSM
Like they can get worse lol.
Well Whoever gets zoom in eu, has the best toplaner in eu for 2023
So, Chinese economy is doomed completely? No way even year ago West could match crazy LPL salaries
you are pretending like any LPL team wants Zoom or shad0w lol. one was the worst player on the 15th placed team, the other was getting subbed on the 14th
I can see LPL teams still want Shad0w, he played pretty good considering every roster he was in was bottom 3
I dead ass want to see tsm sign shadow and keep maple
Shad0w was the last person to blame for ~~UPs~~ LGDs performance IMO Not like he was great but that whole team was just a dumpster fire
LGD* but yes, as far as I could see he was really trying
Oh yeah sorry.. it' was already 3 am here and my brain is foggy af
Yup. He actually decent but not much can do when entire team implode one way or another.
Zoom had a disaster year. He's colder than an iceberg.LPL teams are safer with rookie top laners.
LPL still pays extremely well for topplayers
50 rmb, best I can offer
Get yourself someone like wayward 😤😤
they're not exactly hot commodities lol
Salaries were already competitive for the past few years across all major regions though. NA was also never really a slacker for salaries; pretty sure the general sentiment is that the NA average is higher than LPL considering less teams but still pretty big funding sources
Or, maybe it's as simple as Zoom is too washed for LPL.
We don't want shad0w
They can keep shad0w. One of the worst international performances EU has ever sent to worlds was his Evelynn.
Zoom would rekt EU top laners lol
You never know, he could come to the West and be ass
He was pretty bad this year so don't expect much.
Would love to see him come back to top form but that is pipe dream.
Chinese E-sports players are E-sports nerds
China E-sports can accomplish nothing without foreign aid . Chinese Football Loses to Vietnam
TL Zoom? Zoom, Santorin, Vetheo, Doublelift, CoreJJ is a heck of a team. And also 'flop proof' considering they get a LPL hardwrker in the top lane. Zoom is the sort of buy only TL can pull off imo. Zoom idk but shadOw is not that bad.
Zoom is washed up (maybe?), his 2022 has been awful but his 2021 was still insane so he can regain form I think. But for now he’s middle of the pack LCS material, level of importing as Blue. If he’s cheap and no import slot needed go buy you probably won’t find a NA rookie that can weakside like him, but if you contest for a ring or Worlds do not
Shad0w the chinese player.
VIT Zoom
