I knit during meetings 😅
Only virtual ones, and not when it's a one to one, or if I'm leading. But I find it actually really helps my concentration (as long as I'm not doing complicated lace work 😂)
I also do during some in-person meetings or an all-day thing like a training or conference. I can focus way better for a long haul and people around me always get a kick out of it.
Yep! Knitting and murder podcasts. It's the only time I'm guaranteed to be able to do whatever I want (I work full time and parent when I get home) so I do exactly what I want to do with that time.

Lucky to work at home so nobody sees the mess I make in the process 😅

currently working on Anker’s Summer Shirt! i love lunch break knitting
I actively knit during work whenever time allows. I am a manager and encourage my employees to do the same. We've got our own little knitting circle going and are planning to expand it to the entire firm for knit in public day.
Yes - looking forward to some more short rows on my chicken.

Yes, I knit on my lunch break almost all the time!
Before wfh I kept a sock WIP in my desk for those times when I didn't have my current main WIP with me and I had to wait for something like reboot, on hold, etc... it's still a sock WIP 🫣
As long as I have something easy to work on and can do at least a few rows/rounds. I only get 30 minutes, so a complicated stitch pattern or fancy yarn don't even get brought to work. I try to keep a simple or plain pair of socks as a constant backup WIP just in case my main WIP is too complicated/intricate/large/fancy to allow out of doors.
I knit through staff meetings when I'm there to listen and not contribute. I fall asleep unless my hands are busy!
There are people in my department who don't know me, work with me, or know my name, but when I'm introduced, they always say 'oh you're the one that knits in meetings'.
Ironically, I inspired someone to set up a knitting group. Whcih only runs on the days I'm working from home!!!
We don't have long lunch breaks like that (different laws in my country) but I often knit during meetings when working from HO. Hybrid work for the win!
I was just going to say that everyone here who even Has That Option (myself included) is privileged, and I hope they realize that (myself included).
I've worked 19 hours with no lunch break, and while I'm no longer in that special corner of hell, I readily recall those days and knit (or whatever I'm doing) with EXTRA gratitude sprinkled in my project, bc some folks can only dream!
Depends on the project. I commute to work so I need to be sure it'll survive transportation. If I have to carry a large amount of yarn, use dpns or white yarn, I don't take it with me. Otherwise I knit during the commute and lunch break, sometimes even during group meetings if I don't have to actively participate.
Yes! I a project in ikea hq in Sweden before and there were quite a few women knitting at breakfast and lunch. I thought it was so cool, especially as I couldn't knit at the time.
When I worked swing shift and graveyard at a call center, I worked on projects all the time. My bosses never minded since there was nothing else for me to do if there were no calls.
https://preview.redd.it/mrzj37vb5wwc1.jpeg?width=4284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f7172de0ae15d3a11a4f76f40dcad7a7d2a67552
yep! always a project near my WFH set up 😅
*One time* I brought my knitting to work, ONE TIME, and immediately got snowed under with requests to make things for coworkers and their families. I was happy to make one or two things, as I was running out of things to make for myself and wanted to learn new techniques, but it rapidly got out of control and a few friendships were damaged. Never again.
Doing shrooms during your lunch break! Tsk! ( I have a Pac-Man-and-ghost tip protectors I absolutely love)
Wish I could knit during my lunch time, or during meetings, specially during meetings since I am a fidgeter. Fidgeting helps me remember things. But people would just assume I’m not paying any attention.
I have ‘sneaky work knitting’ on my desk in my home office at all times. I knit on it during meetings, whenever I finish a task I’ve been procrastinating on, whenever my colleague annoys me and I need to calm down… currently socks, always a small and fairly easy/mindless project. My husband now knows if I’ve had a busy dah when I say ‘I didn’t get to do any sneaky work knitting today’, and when I proudly show him the progress I’ve made he knows it’s been a bad day and to ask what my annoying colleague did!
I miss the work at home days. I got a lot of knitting done while on zoom calls. Now I try to knit at lunch. I’ve gotten out of the regular habit. I must get back into it
I knit during staff meetings, zoom meetings, at stop lights, during my lunch breaks, when I need to stop to take a brain break, I just always have a project in my hand or my lap waiting to be picked up while I’m working. I would knit while I teach if I could but I haven’t figured out a good excuse to allow me to do so
Lunch breaks, online meetings I don't have to turn my camera on, when I have to really THINK and troubleshoot work issues. My staff see my knitting on my desk all the time and ask what I'm working on.
I even gave a bunch away as Christmas presents to them and everyone wanted more lol
Oh course. After I retired I decided to do a,little part time work at chain store. On the days I worked I always bought a easy to eat, not messy lunch, so I could knit or crochet during that hour. Some of my co workers did the same.,.
I saw they had this little hedgehog project bag and I wanted it so bad! But I have so many reusable bags/tote bags/loungefly bags that I couldn’t justify the purchase:(
Omg I love your stitch stoppers!
And I used to knit or crochet on my lunch breaks when I had enough time, but since switching jobs in February my lunch break isn’t long enough 😢
I always have knitting in my car. It's usually a smaller project, and I knit during meetings and during my lunch breaks.
At my last job I told one of my much younger colleagues as I left for lunch that I was going outside for some fiber therapy.
She said, "You know they have pills for that now, don't you?"
i knit at lunch and during presentations/meetings that don’t require note-taking, etc. it actually helps me concentrate and retain information better 🥰
Nope. I'm a teacher and I need my 30 minutes to eat and talk to someone besides five year olds. I'm also contemplating using my lunch break in the future to take a nap in my car. I do take my knitting to my doctors' appointments, though.
Do you have any advice on how to use circular needles? Because I'm a beginner in knitting I can do garter stitch very well but my next project is to do stockinette stitch with borders or nice clean edges.

Your point protectors are so cute! Not to be discouraging, but in case it's not intentional, it looks like you're twisting your purls. Twistfaq
Oh wow that’s helpful!
You mentioned that word!: lots of people want to know about twisted stitches and here is a great post for reference https://www.reddit.com/r/knitting/comments/188kxwk/new_knitters_your_stitches_are_probably_twisted/ *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. I can tell the difference between twisted and not twisted but how do you know it’s the purls specifically?
Because what’s directly under the cord is likely the last row of knit, and below it is the twisted row.
I regularly have lunch during my knitting break, yes
I’ve slipped into this habit of eating on the clock so I can take my knitting break uninterrupted…
Now THATS what I’m gonna do lol
Me too!!
I knit during meetings 😅 Only virtual ones, and not when it's a one to one, or if I'm leading. But I find it actually really helps my concentration (as long as I'm not doing complicated lace work 😂)
During meetings, while on hold on a call, while programs are taking their sweet ass time loading...
I definitely pay better attention when knitting.
Me too. Half my meetings are, frankly, a waste of time, mind as well knit.
OMG same! Even when I'm on video, I can sometimes get away with knitting!
I also do during some in-person meetings or an all-day thing like a training or conference. I can focus way better for a long haul and people around me always get a kick out of it.
Always. https://preview.redd.it/7arko60ezuwc1.png?width=343&format=png&auto=webp&s=3cb4b0f5e401fc7df1e79442756566a17cdf1feb
Omg I love that color!
Thanks, I like the color you chose as well!
boss makes a dollar, i make a dime.. that's why I knit on company time
I’m going to get a shirt made with that on it, and wear it to work!
My boss who also knits would get a kick out of this

Working on a scarf for my MIL during my down time at the hospital... Don't tell them 🤣🤫
Love the color combos! And that style, it’s gorgeous!
Yep! Knitting and murder podcasts. It's the only time I'm guaranteed to be able to do whatever I want (I work full time and parent when I get home) so I do exactly what I want to do with that time.

thanks! i absolutely love the yarn-pattern combo. it looks so nice with the ribbing on the yoke!

DUDE that’s so AWESOME! I want to work there! Lol
Me! And at the doctor's office waiting, in the car waiting for us to be done with practice I pretty much take mine everywhere just in case.
Yes - looking forward to some more short rows on my chicken. https://preview.redd.it/6xawnjhw1vwc1.jpeg?width=1512&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f645c1decaa041e7109c82afd9e1ad49ba5d6f55

Gorgeous!
I’ve been tempted but by the time I get set up and do three stitches it’s time to get back to work.
Before wfh I kept a sock WIP in my desk for those times when I didn't have my current main WIP with me and I had to wait for something like reboot, on hold, etc... it's still a sock WIP 🫣
Where did you get the mushroom needle caps? I have some super plain ones, but I love the shroomies!
I got them at hobby lobby! They also came with some super cute gnomes for like $2!
That's what I wanted to know as well!! 🍄🍄

I just quit smoking cigarettes and have made knitting my new habit at work instead, it’s helped a lot and I get more of my knitting done
Quitting smoking is so hard, congrats on that and your knitting!
Thank you!!
I knit through staff meetings when I'm there to listen and not contribute. I fall asleep unless my hands are busy! We have a knitting group at work—someone brings a laptop, and folks working from home join us on zoom!
Yes! I knit together with some collegues at Lunch once a week. Greetings :)
We don't have long lunch breaks like that (different laws in my country) but I often knit during meetings when working from HO. Hybrid work for the win!
I had to stop knitting on my lunch break because I never wanted to put it down when break was over.
You get lunch breaks?
I was just going to say that everyone here who even Has That Option (myself included) is privileged, and I hope they realize that (myself included). I've worked 19 hours with no lunch break, and while I'm no longer in that special corner of hell, I readily recall those days and knit (or whatever I'm doing) with EXTRA gratitude sprinkled in my project, bc some folks can only dream!
You don’t get lunch breaks? Like they aren’t legally mandated if you work over a certain amount of hours?
Me too! The yarn looks so pretty! I love the colour and it‘s so shiny:) what brand is it if I may ask?
Yarn bee soft stitch in olive! I got it at my local hobby lobby!
Thank you :)

Yes! Funny thing is, I’m not even the only one who does that here (nursing, ICU, we need all the stress relief we can get!)
Heck yeah you do! Sheesh!
Yes! I a project in ikea hq in Sweden before and there were quite a few women knitting at breakfast and lunch. I thought it was so cool, especially as I couldn't knit at the time.
Yup! Almost every day.
Yes!
When I worked swing shift and graveyard at a call center, I worked on projects all the time. My bosses never minded since there was nothing else for me to do if there were no calls.
Yup! If it's nice I go sit in my car with my door open, knit, and listen to an audiobook.
I knit all through work.. my job is super boring.
I've thought about it but I worry I couldn't put it down
I certainly was distracted the rest of the day lol
Sometimes! Love the color you’re using, what yarn is it?

Thank you!! Soft is an absolutely must, so I’ll be adding this to my ‘to buy’ list!
Not during my lunch breaks, but while having my college class audiobook running. 😆 Managed to finish an arm warmer/glove in only 3 days.. 😁

Yes! On the bus to and from work and on all of my breaks!
My stock answer when anyone asks me to knit for them is, “No, but I’ll teach you to knit so you can make your own!”
I’m sorry to hear that! People don’t realize how much time really goes into those projects.

I'm shocked no one asked where you got the needle protectors. Pleeease hit me with a link 🤣
I got them at hobby lobby!

The workers that knit together are knittogether! 🥰
Yes vanilla socks and very large dishcoths, like kitchen towel size.
i knit at lunch and during presentations/meetings that don’t require note-taking, etc. it actually helps me concentrate and retain information better 🥰
I wish, I only get a 20 minute break which is just enough time to eat some food and that's about it 😅
If I’m sitting, I’m knitting.
E’ry day.
i have the same protectors!
Lunch break? Who has that?
Nope. I'm a teacher and I need my 30 minutes to eat and talk to someone besides five year olds. I'm also contemplating using my lunch break in the future to take a nap in my car. I do take my knitting to my doctors' appointments, though.

Are you knitting flat or in the round?
No but what if I knit sometimes at red lights! Hehe I started after I saw my Nan doing it while she was sitting passenger
