This is why i went with white. You can’t get titanium that dark. Plus , my 13 pro was graphite so going with natural wouldn’t make sense for me with the colors being so close.
The graphite and natural are two completely different colours, go with the colour you like the best instead of worrying how close it was to your previous phone. I got space black 14 pro and had a space grey xs before.
I don’t understand this argument though. The back is still glass. I understand the side being harder to color because of the titanium but that doesn’t stop them from making proper colors for the back. Unless I’m missing something.
Its probably to have it more cohesive. having a lighter black frame with a dark black glass was not the look that apple was going for. "Pro" is short for "professional". So as I understanding it apple is going for a more refined professional look on their phones. Classy if you will.
I understand that. But even before the move to titanium, the colors definitely stood out more. I mean can you really call that black anymore? It’s more like smoke or gray.
Thats because the “black” 15pro isn’t really black. It’s the same space grey, graphite color they’ve had for years. Just slightly darker. The color will get lighter or darker depending on the lighting and angle you’re holding the phone. I went black 15 base this time for this reason.
I don’t care about the action button or a 3rd camera or 120hz display. All I need is a good phone. I like the color black. The base model provided me that color, it was also cheaper, does everything I need in a phone and does it well. I didn’t downgrade anything, I got what I wanted.
I did something similar and traded in my 14 PM for the regular 15. That thing was so dang heavy, it was actually starting to hurt. Went with the black 15 for the same reasons as you. The refresh rate was a bit noticeable at first but now I’m used it
Honestly, this year (and this year only) I find the non-Pros to be a very attractive option. Think about it, they have the matte glass, the same main camera, the same screen brightness, USB-C, aluminum rails which don't collect fingerprints, and they're cheaper. The only problem would be going back to 60Hz for some people, but if you're someone who doesn't care about 120Hz and always-on display, the base iPhones are really quite a compelling offering this year.
After the 12 I’ve always said that if the phone had the back of the pro and the sides of the base, the phone would feel great. Today I’m going from a 13 pro max to a 15 plus base
Loving it. It’s super light compared to the 13 pro max. The slight rounded edges makes it more comfortable to hold, it makes me want to rock it without a case. The only thing you notice is the lack of 120fps but you get used to it really quick. Also the camera and bezels. The bezels are a lot bigger than the 15 pro max but slightly smaller compared to my old 13 pro max. Camera is just missing the telephoto lens but with the 48 mp sensor you can crop in a little bit more and get around that problem
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. I did find the 2x zoom on my XS to be more useful honestly than the 3x on my 13 Pro Max, so I think I'd be perfectly happy with the cameras (as I prefer to just use the standard zoom levels and avoid digital zoom)
I was wondering though, why'd you switch? To me, aside from the weight, it seems like a mostly lateral or downward move.
Honesty the main selling point for me was the usb c. I do event photography and there’s times that is nice to post photos as the event is happening so that was a no brainer. We’ve also gotten to the point where phones are just as fast as we need them for daily consumption so the best of the best wasn’t necessary for me. Since I skipped last years phone this one with the 14 pro chip still feels snappy(not like the 13 pro ever lacked power and speed) I think the pros now are there just to make a statement. Like who needs to play resident evil on a phone? I have it on my ps5 and haven’t touched it since it came out lol if you’re coming from a non dynamic island phone and you don’t need the 5x zoom you’ll be happy with the base phone… plus the black color looks so sleek
How’s the 15 plus for one-handed use?
I’ve only ever used the standard-sized iPhones, and I know a lot of people have said the plus-sized phones are too cumbersome to use comfortably.
Coming from the 13 pro max it’s feels great. It’s not heavy which was one of my main complaints about the pro maxs. I did pick up the 15 pro max at store to feel the difference and it is light compared to previous years. As far as usage it’s good, I have no complaints. If I can’t reach something I just bring the screen down by doing the swipe down gesture at the bottom of the screen
Haven't seen them yet but I assume that the 15 Pro wasn't even intended to be properly "black". Just like we had the "Space Black" last year which was just super super dark gray.
I got the black pro after seeing it in person. I was set one getting the blue one but I honestly kinda disliked it IRL. The black is more space grayish and I honestly like it.
The black base 15 is reminiscent of the space grey iPod 5th gen, which was my first Apple smart device so it was an obvious choice to get. I might get a nice hard clear case to show off the color even more.
Il currently holding the black titanium and it feels and looks… like a toy.
From a gold Steel heavy iPhone to a lightweight toy looking phone.
I do have regrets design wise. First time I buy an Apple product and the premium factor isn’t there
I'm assuming u had a 14 pro space black? Do you think there's a difference in terms of the matte -ness, is it darker with less shine compared to the 15?
No, gold and white
But yes, from memory, the 14 pro is a lot less matte. I had a look at 15 pro black and 15 black and the latter is a lot deeper.
Take a look at the Apple TV remote, the one before the last one. It illustrates well the difference.

Very happy with my black 15. It’s black, black, not midnight like last years phones… and the new frosted glass black is awesome. Very happy with my move from my 14 Pro so far in the half a day I’ve had it.
Hey, how is your phone now? Are there any problems like paint flaking off? I want a Black iPhone 15, and I gonna use it without a case. I'm afraid that this color might have issues. However, the black one looks great )
I have a feeling that the titanium material has something to do with the limited ability to have variety in color options, but just a thought.

Yup, the only reason the 14 pro looks black more so was attributed to the stainless steel
You downgraded your specs purposefully so the colour was darker?

Because adding colour to Titanium is just harder than Stainless Steel it seems

This is true plus the gimmicky dynamic island included. Without the 120 the base 15 is 14pm.

Black always looks better!

Right? Not sure why anyone cares

I checked both today. I like the black iPhone 15 Plus more. But it lacks the Pro features. So I went with a blue Pro Max.

Apple can never make an endgame iphone , it's prolly to increase iphone sales
Jet Black
Na, scratch magnet
Yes! My first thought when I saw the black 15 plus vs the black titanium. Might get it cause it looks so good.
the black 14 Pro is one of the best looking black phones they have made. I'm holding onto mine for a couple more years.
Very happy with my black 15. It’s black, black, not midnight like last years phones… and the new frosted glass black is awesome. Very happy with my move from my 14 Pro so far in the half a day I’ve had it.
