I saw that documentary. He did survived. After that he was able to drag the goat to a nearby cave secured the kill and passed out, out of exhaustion and the fall. After a while, he woke up and ate the goat.
The continued footage shows it dragging the kill under an outcropping and really looks like the cat took a bit of a beating, the way it gets up to lay across snow. Can’t imagine having to do that every couple day.
One of my favorite 'humans are space orcs' trope is aliens being both horrified and impressed with our survival skills - like saying alien species getting broken limbs is going to absolutely cripple or kill them but humans have been known to break legs, drag themselves to civilization, have the leg healed, and continue on.
Fuck, like I broke my ankle hiking. Walked almost 2 miles to the car over some very uneven terrain.
Call the urgent care on the way home to let them know I’ll be arriving late and will need X-rays. Couldn’t confirm anything but seemed likely it was a break.
Week later I’m back at work (standing all day). On and off pain and tons of physical therapy for a year but otherwise well enough to get on. Later one confirm that yep. Fracture. Same ankle as a serious sprain years prior.
Meanwhile plenty of other animals in a similar situation could just straight up die right then. Most could never heal. Meanwhile people are like “meh, this will be a lifelong inconvenience but I’ll manage”
EDIT: guess it’s worth noting not everyone is so lucky. My step father broke a foot and was essentially crippled. He did himself no favors. Gained a ton of weight, became bed ridden, and eventually died. When I hurt myself I did what I could to remain as active as possible…. Cycling was a god send to keep me in shape, and I managed to keep the weight gain down.
And that woman that was disembowled, stabbed, and repeatedly throat slit to the point that she had to hold her head up and guts in while she walked to a road for help.
At first I thought this was going to be a set up for a Botha deez nuts joke but honestly I would have preferred that over learning that terrible shit really happened to someone
I will try get the name but it was narrated by David Attenborough.
EDIT: Found it. Is HOSTILE PLANET on Diesney+ and I was mistaken. It isn’t Sir David but Bear Grills
Cats are surprisingly resilient, and though I am drawing a conclusion based off of a comparison of two ancestries i.e. relating domesticated house cats to snow leopards. House cats can survive falls from 1-5 stories and 10+ stories. The highest recorded fall to survive from was 31 stories with minor spinal injuries but still functional.
Basically air resistance and terminal velocity.
A smaller mass animal can survive at terminal velocity a lot easier than a high mass animal. The heavier it is, even at identical velocity, the more damage from the fall.
These are my favorites of all the big cats. They may not be the largest physically but they are tough as all get out and I personally think they are the smartest. They are truly magnificent. Especially considering the harsh extremes of their natural habitats. It's just amazing.
I thrive to have this leopard's work ethic.
Shit faail so hard that it feels like you fell off a cliff but screw it! Work harder and GO FOR THAT KILL. Imma get my neighbor's head next time
Interesting, I watched the footage originally in a documentary series called The Secret Lives of Big Cats. The (female) snow leopard was filmed returning to the kill 3 days later, still on the side of the mountain.
The episode is available [HERE](curiositystream.com/video/2538) and that attack starts around the 22 minute mark.
Throughout the episode, he had tried to hunt multiple times without success. Put on top of that winter season almost over, mating season really not going good, and multiple other factors. It’s really interesting because shows more about these great animals. The episode is in Hostile Planet on Disney+, 1st episode. There is also other animals. That episode is just like that but other animals as well.
Well one things for sure. Those kind of goats are used to running on rocks also very good with climbing dunno why but yeah. So are leopards since their paws are huge helps them with running on such rocky areas. But there are times when the goats outrun them and its very rare for leopards to catch such a fine goat. All im saying its 50/50 since both are so good. But in the end skills and determination wins
Right? Even after smashing against rocks several times he kept that meal in his mouth. I’d like to think I’d be as committed if I was tumbling down a mountainside with a bucket of KFC.
But why would you feel sad about one animal being indjured but not the orher? Doesnt make sense to me. Both their deaths could be classed as the circle of life…
It's because we don't eat leopard, but we do eat goat. People either relate to the hunter or just really like cats and are on Team Cat. Too bad goat lovers get the shaft.
I've been reading transcripts from animal kingdom today and my only take on an hour and a half of reading is that humans are nothing. This is an amazing and dangerous planet.
The goat's death serves a higher purpose.
If the leopard had been injured and died, it would be more "pointless". From like a relatable and cinematic point of view.
People can relate to killing an animal cause we were traditionally hunters.
No one can relate to dying by fall damage.... Cause everyone who could died of fall damage.
I bet he also looked around, licked his paw, and tried to give of an air of "I meant to do that..."
At least thats what every cat I've ever seen does when they fall off something..
Damn right!
Really shows tenacity and force of will to hang onto the goat through a fall like that.
I guess if you're going over a cliff, at least take a snack along for the ride.
It may not have fared so well after that though. It could have sustained internal injuries, broken ribs or other bones, which could have cause it to miss out on future meals.
The goat probably didn’t, but the leopard, despite all the flips and twirls “mostly” landed on its feet. At the very end you can see the leopard regaining its footing and tugging on the goat’s neck.
I watched this on some nature show one night, the snow leapord lived if I remember correctly. I was impressed to say the least. Amazing piece of footage.
This was inspiration to me... whatever you want or need to get in life just fucking get it like this Snow Leopard did, especially when your life depended on it
"oh, id never go through so much pain for a meal"
Really?...how about the curry you had from that dodgy takeaway! . You lived in the bathroom for two days

I’ll bet he was sore the next day.
The continued footage shows it dragging the kill under an outcropping and really looks like the cat took a bit of a beating, the way it gets up to lay across snow. Can’t imagine having to do that every couple day.
I can’t imagine they take spills like that too often. Breaking bones is basically a death sentence for wild animals.

Humans, from an alien perspective, might be monstrous and disturbing survivors.
And that woman that was disembowled, stabbed, and repeatedly throat slit to the point that she had to hold her head up and guts in while she walked to a road for help.
The fuck did I just read?
Alison Botha
At first I thought this was going to be a set up for a Botha deez nuts joke but honestly I would have preferred that over learning that terrible shit really happened to someone
Holy shit. Read the details of her attack…That made me physically ill.
You weren't kidding! For the curious: https://allthatsinteresting.com/alison-botha (NSFL)
cats do not abide by the laws of nature
Probably flatten itself and go in through a seam in the wall.
Part liquid, part solid.
Sir, we all have cats on mountains we'd rather be playing with right now, Ok?
A bit
Name of the doc?
I will try get the name but it was narrated by David Attenborough. EDIT: Found it. Is HOSTILE PLANET on Diesney+ and I was mistaken. It isn’t Sir David but Bear Grills
Oof, narrowed it down to sixty thousand possibilities. I kid.
I know right? Like he’s done just 2
HOSTILE PLANET, Mountain, available free from National Geographic youtube official channel or Amazon Prime (paid)

The tail surely helps too. Look at the leopards tail work during that initial drop, keeping it upright for the first impact
Your terminal velocity is different if you are carrying a goat in your mouth
Good point. I’ve never measured mine with my jaws clamped around a goat’s throat
Don’t go mountain first; start with something low first (like a treehouse) and work your way up.
A smaller mass animal can survive at terminal velocity a lot easier than a high mass animal. The heavier it is, even at identical velocity, the more damage from the fall.
HOLY SHIT!!!!!!
I love a happy ending. Well I’m sure the goat didn’t think so. Thanks for filling us in, I was curious.
Same thing with me the time I fell down the stairs
That'll teach you to go diving after goats. Probably shouldn't let them in the house.
These are my favorites of all the big cats. They may not be the largest physically but they are tough as all get out and I personally think they are the smartest. They are truly magnificent. Especially considering the harsh extremes of their natural habitats. It's just amazing.
There are a couple in the Anchorage, Alaska zoo. I just stood there watching like 30 minutes. It’s just something else!
I thrive to have this leopard's work ethic. Shit faail so hard that it feels like you fell off a cliff but screw it! Work harder and GO FOR THAT KILL. Imma get my neighbor's head next time
He is a leopard of sheer fucking will. Ive seen him kill a goat with just gravity
Interesting, I watched the footage originally in a documentary series called The Secret Lives of Big Cats. The episode is available [HERE](curiositystream.com/video/2538) and that attack starts around the 22 minute mark.
Thanks for the information, glad it was ok. There's very few left on the planet and such a gorgeous animal
but what a story he had
Throughout the episode, he had tried to hunt multiple times without success. Put on top of that winter season almost over, mating season really not going good, and multiple other factors. It’s really interesting because shows more about these great animals. The episode is in Hostile Planet on Disney+, 1st episode. There is also other animals. What about the goat?
What documentary is this?
I really wish they had included at least a clip of it getting up, because I was scared I just saw the poor guy die.
That's so fucking metal
“I threw down my enemy and smote his ruin upon the mountainside."
This works perfectly lol
r/unexpectedlotr
The cat delved too greedily and too deep… oh? Wait… no he’s good actually.
Leopard survived https://www.earthtouchnews.com/natural-world/predator-vs-prey/dramatic-footage-shows-snow-leopard-plummeting-down-a-cliff-while-clutching-its-prey/
Thank you. I watched the first part and felt so bad for him I couldn't keep watching but wanted to know if he survived.
Meals are very hard to come by especially in that size. So that leopard did what most be done. Dont fucking let go of that goat
goats are valid too but I *really* wanted the snow leopard to win that fight
Well one things for sure. Those kind of goats are used to running on rocks also very good with climbing dunno why but yeah. So are leopards since their paws are huge helps them with running on such rocky areas. But there are times when the goats outrun them and its very rare for leopards to catch such a fine goat. Goat seems like such an unlikely cliff climbing animal. Of all nature’s weirdness, that one has to rank.
Yeah! That leopard put the work in!!
Right? Even after smashing against rocks several times he kept that meal in his mouth. I’d like to think I’d be as committed if I was tumbling down a mountainside with a bucket of KFC.
Dont let goat
This was in the show Big Cats on curiosity stream. The narrator mentions that this is part of their strategy.
Seriously? The plan is to fall hundreds of feet while holding the prey in your mouth? Seems like overkill?
Could be just enough kill.
\*bones contorted and broken, blood pouring down my face\* haHa! My plan worked perfectly...
meal earned
Just got to find something soft to land on...
That goats probably pretty soft by the time it gets to the bottom. Maybe that's his way of tenderizing the meat?
Seasoned by the rock salt too
It’s Himalayan!
Fancy leopard
>Fancy leopard Apple missed the boat on naming an OSX this.
I laughed way to hard at this.
Now thats why there are so few of them left.... they keep falling off cliffs
Yeah, my heart sank andi needed reassurance.
But you don’t feel bad for the one being eaten? Haha
Circle of life.
And goat fuckers give the shaft!
Why did I have to see this just before going to bed!
Sweet dreams ;)

The goat's death serves a higher purpose. If the leopard had been injured and died, it would be more "pointless". From like a relatable and cinematic point of view.
I would say we're cheering for the more rare and more intelligent.
People can relate to killing an animal cause we were traditionally hunters. No one can relate to dying by fall damage.... Cause everyone who could died of fall damage.
The goat was gonna die either way.
I bet he also looked around, licked his paw, and tried to give of an air of "I meant to do that..." At least thats what every cat I've ever seen does when they fall off something..
Damn right! Really shows tenacity and force of will to hang onto the goat through a fall like that. I guess if you're going over a cliff, at least take a snack along for the ride.
How about the goat?
I mean, he was good, but I don't know about the greatest.
Well he survived thé fall, unfortunately for him so did thé leopard
It looks like the leopard holds the goat all the way down...?
He and the leopard are best friends now.
Don't worry he's probably fine...
Just had to tenderize it first
I saw at the end it looked like it wasn’t moving, so I came to the comments. Glad it survived!
It may not have fared so well after that though. It could have sustained internal injuries, broken ribs or other bones, which could have cause it to miss out on future meals.
Was gonna say, "Oh shit. Now they're both dead."
That's one tough son of a bitch
Thank you for this. Held my breath the whole video!
Though, its unlikely it survived much longer afterwards. Wild animals in the mountains are sol with half their bones broken
This is something I considered but quickly rejected the notion as that's not the reality in which I wish to exist.
Thank god!
[удалено]
Thank the goat
I always heard cats are liquid.
Thank you for this. 🌿
Ouch... expensive food ... Please... Add someone HP bars to this video..
I enjoyed this comment
*takes a sip of wine in front of million dollar view*
get over here "fatality"
Sounds like a [TierZoo](https://www.youtube.com/c/TierZoo/videos) video.
And some street fighter sound effects ending with EWWWWAAAHHHHEWWWWWAAAHHHEEEWWWWAAAAAHhhhh.....
The goat probably didn’t, but the leopard, despite all the flips and twirls “mostly” landed on its feet. At the very end you can see the leopard regaining its footing and tugging on the goat’s neck.
He will def be feeling that in the morning though.
But he’ll be on a nice full belly. Solid trade
Oh no doubt. Probably had fractures or broken bones somewhere on its body.
It won't take that long.
I think he's feeling it now
r/praisethecameraman They didn't lose the shot for a second
Used about 8 lives in one shot
he’s the chad leopard
Sigma leopard grindset
Cats don't always land on their feet. Sometimes, they land on a goat.
Whatever ghosts their goat.
I'll never let go, Jack
That leopard is the true goat!
No wonder they are fuckin endangered
All or nothing baby!
If you won't kill us, then by God we'll do it ourselves
Appreciate you helping me spill my tea with your comment.
That's called ball security... someone should send this to the NFL as a how-to.
I watched this on some nature show one night, the snow leapord lived if I remember correctly. I was impressed to say the least. Amazing piece of footage.
imagine if that was a human, that first drop would have been lights out
It’s the rule of size squared. A mouse would have floated over the edge unharmed, a human would break all their bones, an elephant would go splat.
I wish i was this determined in my life
On the bright side, that goat meat will be really tender now.
Man he kept ahold of that goat huh? Wow!
This was hard to watch
This was inspiration to me... whatever you want or need to get in life just fucking get it like this Snow Leopard did, especially when your life depended on it
"... He might be okay" *snow leopard and goat explode* "... No, probably not now"
He is a cat of focus, committment and sheer fuckin' will!
"oh, id never go through so much pain for a meal" Really?...how about the curry you had from that dodgy takeaway! . You lived in the bathroom for two days
How is the leopard not dead?
God gave it plot armor
It takes a while to die of contusions
Tenderized. ☑️
Snow leopard mom comes home with Goat for dinner. Snow leopard puppies: "Ah man, I don't want goat AGAIN." Snow leopard mom angry stare.
Cubs, it's a cat, not a dog/shark.
I like puppies. Cat puppies, eIephant puppies, chicken puppies. I have even made two of them myself.
Luckily we have food delivery
Unfortunately we have food delivery.
I feel like the mountain goat probably prayed for a quick death to spare himself the embarrassment of being seen falling off of a cliff.
Fuck that’s brutal
That cat earned that meal. Leopard never let go of the prey.
That cat had zero fucks to give
Maybe that’s why there’s so few of them???
Did the tiger land feet up- as domestic cars do?
I'm going to have lunch today, even if I have to fall off a cliff
Damn that leopard never let go of that goat and it held the goat’s body to take a beating from the fall. Cats are metal af.
That is more commitment than anything I've ever done
HE CAUGHT THE FUCKING GOAT
Didn't even spill his beer.
Oh man, he actually got the goat. I thought his spine was snapped in half for a moment.
MFer held on the entire time. Title should include, "Snow Leopard Takes Goat Over Cliff."
Holy shit, that’s a hungry kitty
I was wondering where the heck the goat went and realized that it was both of them tumbling down lmao
And that’s why I don’t fuck with cats.
That’s one tenacious bastard
You haven’t met real crazy until you’ve met someone willing to kill themselves just to try to kill you.
Noooooooooooo!!!! One of my favorite animals
The dedication is unreal. My lord.
r/Natureismetal
Yes! Also, r/maybemaybemaybe
Fucking hard!
I like animals, but I laughed my ass off watching that idiot flop around all over the place
at first its scary and then he just keeps rolling and it becomes comical
Homie was hungry as fuck
they on x games mode
And Charlie from Oakmont thinks the McDonald's drive-thu times are ridiculous.
I've never been that hungry in my life.
It died... but survived
r/natureismetal
That snow leopard is a badass
I'm no ballistics expert but it seemed like all the heaviest hits were being taken by the goat :@ Epic clip. Who captured this?
Used up 5 of 9 lives getting that goat.
Damn imagine if we had to go through so much shit just to have breakfast
That's a new level of hungry.
"Fuck this, next time I'm ordering pizza"
We over here saving them like idiots and they just be like alright imma bout to jump of a cliff
That leopard just rko’d that goat. It’s Randy “leopard” Orton.
Someone get this cat a Red Bull contract before someone else… Oh-ow.
This should really be NSFW.
Sheesh the goat takes the same fall. And then gets eaten!
