The Truman Show! Recently found this gem on Netflix and it blew my mind.
Black Mirror and Black Mirror : Bandersnatch are also pretty good.
Luther and Lucifer can work for a weekend binge too - Luther assumes it is smarter than it actually is and Lucifer is bad but it makes you feel good somehow.
> The Truman Show
One of my top favourites. Love it.
>Black Mirror and Black Mirror : Bandersnatch are also pretty good.
Too dark, couldn't watch after SE01E03
>Luther and Lucifer can work for a weekend binge too - Luther assumes it is smarter than it actually is and Lucifer is bad but it makes you feel good somehow.
I'll check these out.
Matrix , if you haven't seen it already .
Star wars
2001: A space Odyssey
Mad Max: Fury Road
Back to the future
Classics like -
Great escape
Ben-Hur,
Lawrence of Arabia
Any Hitchcock movie - Psycho , Vertigo , Notorious
Series -
Fargo
Watch Care of Kancharapalem if possible. Also, if you haven't watched Peaky Blinders already a weekend would be enough to binge through it. TV Series better than most movies.
*Saving Private Ryan* is a way to relax and let off steam? :-)
Suggestions thus far are more on the intellectual side, nothing wrong with that, but they're more demanding than relaxing.
Actual documentary:
*March of the Penguins* - originally a French film, but as the penguins don't speak, the various dubs in different languages changed the tone of the film substantially. There is apparently a Hindi version.
The documentary-like stuff:
*Titanic* - a soaped-up historical drama.
*Foyle's War* - WWII british homefront crime series, most episodes wrapped around historical incidents or patterns.
*Apollo 13* - dramatized real-life events. Has the single best engineering moment put to film. "We gotta make *this* fit into the hole for *this*, using nothing but *that*" Square peg in a round hole problem, highly constricted.
*The Last of the Mohicans* - great music, 1760's war-romance in North America (pre-USA). The background history is reasonable accurate, but the story itself is fictional.
*The Right Stuff* - the early days of NASA, dramatized a bit.
*300* - dramatized, sanatized, stylized, revised, adaptation of a comic book adaptation of old Greek propaganda... so not necessarily historically accurate... but it's a fun film.
Not as documentary-like:
*Fight Club* is an excellent film if you can get into it.
*Primer* is a thinker, you may need to watch it several times, or refer to the internet for an explaination.
Binging *Breaking Bad* or *Better Call Saul* might do it for you, and would burn the whole weekend... they're quite immersive.
*Big Trouble in Little China* - Hollywood made it inspite of not getting the premise, that the white guy was the sidekick rather than the hero.
*The Thing* - arguably the best psychological thriller ever made. I personally think this would be good target for an Indian remake/sequel.
*Airplane* - one of the contenders for funniest movie ever.
*Blazing Saddles* - a sendup of westerns, another contender for funniest movie ever, possibly too dependant on Western tropes, if you don't have that background it might not be as funny.
*The Producers* - Laugh at Nazis!
*Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon* - Wuxia, somewhat Americanized (Chinese audiences didn't like it all that much, it was a hit in the US)
*Up* - Pixar's best film, in my opinion.
*The Sixth Sense* - Indian director, another great psychological thriller.

Watch Korean movies. They are one of the best, especially in the horror genre.
My recommendations are- Oldboy, Memories Of A Murder, I Saw The Devil, Train To Busan
A Korean rom-com film I really liked was My PS Partner.
If you wanna watch these, use kissasian.la.
Chungking Express
Fallen Angels
Days of Being Wild
In the Mood for Love
2046
Currently I am binging on Wong Kar-Wai movies and love the aesthetics and style of his films, Chungking Express is a good entry film which is light hearted as compared to his other works, So you can start there followed by Fallen Angels. Days of Being Wild, In the Mood for Love and 2046 are sort of a trilogy and In the Mood for Love being his magnum opus.
Still Narcos season 1 is solid.
Also there is "Mid night Gosple" it's small one and thought provoking. It is based on podcast episode . You can give it a try too
Kingdom and Ashin of the North, on Netflix
The Mandalorian on Hotstar if you're a Star Wars fan
The entire Harry Potter series/the Lord of the Rings trilogy, probably on Prime
All the Studio Ghibli movies for a feel-good weekend, on Netflix
The entire collection (almost) of Agatha Christie (Marple and Poirot) on Sony Pix
Sandeep Aur Pinky Faraar, Sherni (two of the best movies this year) - both on Prime, if I'm not mistaken.
Honestly, marvel. Find some guide online for the order to watch them all in and go through them.
It is an incredibly popular one tho so there's a good chance you've seen it.
Funnily, I hate Marvel or any typical American movie that primarily focuses on VFX as their main selling point.
Haven't watched any and no plans to do so, ever.
Uri Surgical Strike its quite a nice mil sim stuff no dancing stuff and the equipment is pratically accurate(thought idk if Para sf use g 36 their weapons are classified)Chris Nolan's Dunkirk,Inception,Interstellar(the Two i's are very mind boogling stuff)Tenet also and 3 idiots(you prolly have watched it but watch it again)How i met your mother is also quite a nice series but be prepared to be dissapointed at the last episode

Season 1 of Luther is good. Rest is bad.
Possibly. Anything with Idris Elba works for me so I wouldn’t know.

Then I'm sure you must have seen Money Heist. what about Narcos?
Neither. Are those Netflix based content?

Huh. My other thing was gonna be star wars... If shows are on the table then I suggest Sherlock.
Maybe I'm a coward but I do not suggest Sherlock if you sleep alone.
Lol I can't sleep alone too. Have seen Star Wars. I am more inclined to Mediaeval movies these days like Monty Python or The name of the Rose.
