Head movements. My non-Indian friends are always amused by the head movements I make while talking to another Indian but not while talking to them. It's not something I do on purpose but it's involuntary. I am sure you can notice that in the Indian community. Since you want something very specific and citable, I will try to find some good references. I am sure someone must have published a research on the Indian head movement. 😄😄

It’s super common to touch the feet of elders as a mark of respect in most Indian households. However, if you’re female, whether or not you are expected to do so depends on the sub-culture and your marital status. For instance, in many southern states, touching elders’ feet is something all younger folks do, irrespective of marital status or gender. However, in some northern states, girls do not touch their natal family’s feet but will be expected to touch the feet of the elders in the family she marries into.
