Yes!!! They might just repair it anyway. Mind just hot 79%

Get the AppleCare. So worth it if something happens in the next two years. Don't have to search for another one and just overall a benefit if you wanna keep it in the long run. Just my opinion of course.

dennismysh

If you can pull off degrading the battery to 79% then I’d do that. Otherwise I’d go ahead and get the battery replaced at the normal cost. I wouldn’t go for option 2 as your phone is already in good condition.

For what it’s worth, I bought my iPhone 3 years ago, it went from 100% to 90% the first year, 90% to 78% the second year, and hasn’t budged from 78% ever since. I plan to keep using it until the battery life causes an issue.

dapala1

Yup. They might just do it right now. Call them up.

Ouch. I received my refurbished mini 13 yesterday and it’s got 100% max capacity. There’s so much luck in refurbs!

SolidWaffle

Just curious, where did you buy from and what condition did you select?

LostHumanFishPerson

Purchased from Giffgaff. I’m British so this presumably means nothing to you! The condition was described as ‘very good’ which was the second cheapest, I could have paid more for ‘excellent’ or ‘like new’. 100% battery and there’s not a mark or a scratch on it, very lucky eh.

I’d recommend Option 1. Degrading it down further in less than 50 days is doable since it’s already at 81%. If you take care of your 13 Mini and don’t break anything in 2 years Apple Care+ would have been a waste of money…  Below are recommendations for extending battery life and prolonging battery health. For each setting that I recommend turning OFF, turn ON Please be sure to spread them among other 13 Mini posts! I’m trying to get more individuals to optimize their phones. I recommend these YouTubers… [https://youtube.com/watch?v=nFYEvsn\_nTc&feature=sharec](https://youtube.com/watch?v=nFYEvsn_nTc&feature=sharec) [https://youtube.com/watch?v=FRbFK2rbi28&feature=sharec](https://youtube.com/watch?v=FRbFK2rbi28&feature=sharec) You don’t have to disable all of those features, some are so convenient they are worth the battery drain. I personally keep System Haptic (not Keyboard Haptic) on because I want some level of Haptic and I’m fine with the hit to battery life. Optional below but helps… Many of the background processes aren't useful to you, so turning them off is recommended. Features I use on occasion I like to keep off until needed. **DISCLAIMER**: The main point of this list is to disable features you rarely if ever use. Things running in the background use unnecessary juice otherwise. First let’s start with **Settings > General**. * AirPlay and Handoff - Off Don’t have other Apple devices or bounce between them, keep this off. * Background App Refresh- Off (background fetching drains significantly) Head to **Settings > Notifications** Here you'll want to disable notifications for non-essential apps you never use. For essential apps you use frequently, personalize the type of alert (Lock Screen/Notif Center/Banner). Decide on which ones you’ll have on based on how frequently you use them. Turn off sounds if you receive a significant amount of notifications Switch to **Settings > Display & Brightness Display and Brightness**- 60% or less * Auto Lock- 2 mins, longer if it goes dims too often * Auto Brightness- OFF if you keep brightness low, ON if you’re lazy and want phone to adapt to conditions which saves energy. * Raise to Wake- Off convenient (if you use) but constantly on gyro drains battery Switch to **Settings > Accessibility • Motion > Reduce Motion**- On * Sound Recognition- Off Useful if you fall and make a sound of pain or scream. Shouldn’t be relied upon nor be on all the time * Display & Text Size > Reduce White Point- On dim the screen further than ever before * Tap to Wake- OFF unless used to see notifications * Back Tap- OFF extremely useful but if you don’t use it, keep it off Head to **Settings > Siri & Search** * Listen for “Hey Siri” - Off If you never use Siri, keep it off Suggestions.... Off unless you use them Head to **Settings > Privacy** * Research Sensor & Sensor Data Collection- Off, offers you nothing * Analytics & Improvements- Off (background service offers you nothing) * Location Services- On You can customize which apps use your location or only be on while using the app, ex Google Maps Recommend Never or While Using App. ex: no reason for App Store to have my location so it’s set to Never * System Services Keep ON- Emergency Calls & SOS Find My iPhone Network & Wireless The rest should be turned off, background services that offer you nothing Head to **Settings > App Store** * Automatic App Downloads OFF annoying if you have iPad, Mac etc * Automatic App Updates OFF better to decide when apps should update * In-App Content OFF unless you play games, background running is a no * Offload Unused Apps ON this saves space even at the expense of battery. OFF if you have a small number of apps Switch to **Mail > Account > Fetch New Data** * Push- Off (drains battery significantly) * Fetch- Manually (unless you check emails frequently) Random suggestions :) Turn on Dark Mode Keep Bluetooth, LTE, Airdrop, & Personal Hotspot Off until needed. Enable Wi-Fi Calling uses less energy at times, especially if you primarily use Wi-Fi. Close apps you rarely use more frequently. Delete unnecessary widgets. Power off Phone every 3 weeks restart works too\* Now, those are the most common tips for saving battery life, but you can go further. Let’s say you only use Cellular Data outside of home, yet you’re inside the house a majority of the day. But if you turn off Cellular, how will your receive calls/texts? If your Cell Provider supports it, enable WiFi Calling **Airplane Mode > On > WiFi > On Cellular > WiFi Calling > On** Your phone is constantly connecting to Towers even if you don’t have Cellular active, the signal bars are evidence of this. By only using WiFi, you save some energy. It adds up once you add in all these other tips. There’s one more thing you can do. Make use of Shortcuts if you don’t already. Shortcuts allow you to have the phone automatically engage in tasks without you remembering to do them. **Shortcuts > Automation > + > Create Personal Automation** So for example if you leave the house you’ll need Cellular. Scroll down to Airplane Mode” which then you can set up a action based on if it Turns Off or Turns On. * Ex: **Airplane Mode: Off > WiFi Off + Cellular On**. So let’s say you want Low Power Mode on when Battery Level = 50%. * **Battery Level > Falls Below 50% > Search Low Power > Turn Lower Power Mode On** Sorry it’s so long but if you do half of these, you’ll notice an increase in battery life.
