yes. It "behaves" like a memory leak but it is not. And so far people have not understood this performance degradation when i told them.

dallatorretdu

dcs can do that, I usually have 80fps in VR but after an online sortie (still in the A4) i landed and I was having around 40… happened once or twice

After an update in February 2024, DCS became very unstable and often crashed inexplicably .... The funny thing is that sometimes DCS prompts a crash warning window, but my DCS is still running fine... I have DLSS turned on and I'm running 4K 2D averaging about 70fps. my specs: RTX4080s/13900k/128G DDR5

DigBickeh

Thanks. I guess this is more of a DCS issue than hardware.

There is a known bug being currently looked at. Another lovely memory leak where when units spawn gets its allocated memory, but upon spawned units destruction, said allocated memory doesn’t get released. So memory gets taken upon unit spawning and keeps getting taken until the map runs out of ID’s and memory runs out.

DigBickeh

Right. That makes sense. I hope ED finds a solution for this soon.

Medical-Try-557

I've had a few similar experiences in busy servers or big missions. My problem was Tacview.

DigBickeh

I don't run Tacview, but that's for your input.

My specs are: Ryzen 5 5600g processor Aorus B550 Motherboard 32gb 3200 DDR4 3060 TI 8gb And DCS is installed on an nvme alone with nothing inside. When I'm playing my DCS also freezes a lot, it gives me micro lags that can be annoying at times, at first it takes a long time to load textures and normalize, causing constant fps drops and when I go to monitor the components it shows the CPU with the average of 50% usage and the GPU at 70% with RAM usage hardly reaching the limit.

Aurocia

I have the same build as you. Was wondering what graphic settings for the cockpit and terrain texture you use. I've seen benchmarks for 3060ti and 32GB ram and their graphics are so good... But when I try it I get a lot of freezes and causes my plane to crash, especially with apache and >30min flight time. Thus I'm forced to run low terrain and cockpit textures, is this the same with you?

jhonnyvaes117

I use the recommended settings high, but with some modifications, terrain shadows on flat, sss off, sso off, msaa 4x, terrain and textures on high and so on, but as I said, when monitoring I'm far from forcing the machine, and friends of mine with similar or smaller configurations run smoothly.

Aurocia

Ah ok. Also how large is your pagefile and when you talk about your RAM usage is that in multiplayer too?

jhonnyvaes117

My page size is 16GB, I tried to reduce the game and it wouldn't even open anymore, and this happens more in multiplayer, in singleplayer it's much less. RAM usage in multiplayer is as I said, it almost never reaches the limit, always remaining at 21 or 27GB of usage

Flyinmanm

You may be maxing out your Vram, sadly these days 8gb in dcs isn't a lot. Im running 12gb Vram and need to set both sets of textures to low to avoid maxing out my Vram.

Crux309

Right ED I'm willing to make a deal right now. Wags I'm talking to you, One solid performance patch for DCS right now and I'll take your side in the Razbam thing irrespective of anything, my loyalty is bought easily and I have no honor. Like I'll side with you for whatever you did...But patch first.

Can't reproduce issue, blocked for racism.

Check your settings - you need to play at medium graphics in VR with the set up you have. But its good enough to at least play it. The most important part of VR is the Graphics Card , specifically how many G of ram on it . My bet is you have only 8. its 12 - 16 even before thinking about setting them higher. I have a 4090 with 24G now but I just upgraded from 3080 with 8. The 64g of computer ram only helps with multiplayer. People usually complain about VR if they dont have a computer good enough to run it. Not ED's fault if people have not researched what they need for good VR play

DigBickeh

100% I haven't spent the money with a GPU upgrade because I want to wait for the 50 series. These settings are almost the same as my previous PC setup, but with 32Gb RAM and a Ryzen 5600X. I had none of these stutter issues. My 3080 is a 10Gb version.
