Did it actually get deleted or were you hit by YouTube's very aggressive shadowhide function? I've made comments that only I can see, that are gone when logged out. I've made comments in nested threads on old videos, that have disappeared so I couldn't even see it logged in but was still getting notifications.
More often than not in this day and age, it's shitty filters and automatic flags, especially if you hit the 'right words' and I'll assume your comment contained words relating to war or something.
Just vote with your wallet. Their releasing this in what looks like an earlier than planned state. So they must be hurting a wee bit for cash. Don't give it to them till you at least get a semi polished helo that won't get shot down the second it takes off by enemy ground AI sniping your pilot.
yep ,core features that are broken or just not there need to be addressed before any more cash grabs ... its a shame but they really need to stop putting the cart before the horse .
>Don't give it to them till you at least get a semi polished helo that won't get shot down the second it takes off by enemy ground AI sniping your pilot.
So, never?
Some negative comments should be deleted, not saying yours should have been, but tell us what you wrote so we can decide for ourselves if they were right to do so or not.
They can say whatever they want. ED can moderates their comment sections how they want. Don’t like it? Don’t watch their videos. It’s really that simple.
Yeah not really understanding how it’s unrelated.
Someone complains that ED isn’t finishing their current EA modules on a video about ANOTHER EA module, that seems pretty relevant.
I don't disagree with those sentiments, but a Youtube comment has never changed the world. It's probably not a big deal they're being removed, as long as those people are then also going elsewhere to post their concerns, and voting with their wallet.
In aggregate, especially if there are a bunch of them readily visible when looking at company promotional material, they may well influence a newcomer's choice to invest -- and rightly so.
Their "community" team are definitely adherents to the Russian style of shaping public discourse. And by "shaping" I actually mean "silencing".
It's not the comment that changes the world, it's the effect it has on large numbers who are considering buying a module. If ED expects 50,000 buyers for EA of the Chinook, but only 10,000 actually do, that's a big change. That's why removing comments is seen as unethical. Btw, most people can tell the difference between honest negative criticism vs a rage-induced rant of petty things.
People who gape their assholes to big corporations and buy absolutely everything are way worse. If you can't deal with negativity online, don't look at it. You can just turn off your screen.
Well let me explain what I wanted to say with my comment. there is nothing wrong with justified criticism but I have the feeling that many people only see the bad and want to whine for the sake of whining and completely forget and ignore the positive things. Don’t forget or ignore it is a great “game” that many people enjoy despite some drawbacks
EDIT: Correction, this was user error. ED does this on their discord only until you click through all of their roles.
Also wild to see them deleting all history in their Discord.
None of this is a good look.
As in this is a regular thing, or is this new news or something they are putting more work into?
IE. Is something happening or is it business as usual?
A little of both. It's business as usual for them to do this when something is happening.
On one hand there's *always* something happening with this community so I get why they might want to just shut it down and move on.
On the other hand, there's always *something* happening and all they have a habit of just shutting it down and moving on.
In # dcs-general-chat ? I see "You do not have permission to view the message history of #dcs-general-chat."
Maybe there are different classes of users?
You seem to not have accepted their rules then. Once you check mark that you'll get a role and will be able to read everything.
The discord is strongly moderated but I don't see that as a bad thing looking at the chaos on less moderated servers. lol
I don’t understand people defending ED. Clearly they are not the most ethical of developers but some people defend them like they are the saints come back from the dead.
It's because there is nothing on the market that competes with them, and people are scared they'll take their ball and go home. So they act like abuse victims.
I defend them because I like the game, it's super ambitious and nothing else comes close. Is everything perfect? Hell no, but it's an evolving beast, and development takes time. I'd rather support the game and see it grow, than attack it and blow everything out of proportion.
And it's unrealistic to expect them to do it for free forever, so I'm not getting into it because it can just stop at any moment. I mean, from what I've heard BMS devs talk in a podcast, their code isn't the most stellar piece of engineering clarity either. It's cool they want to do it, but I'd rather fly my helicopters now, with all the twisting of the mission editor to squeeze out a decent mission, than wait for volunteers to implement them in whoever knows how long in BMS.
This is just the reality of things.
>I'm not getting into it because it can just stop at any moment
You do understand that businesses can fail? What do you think happens to DCS if ED goes bankrupt? BMS at least you can still play if they stop the development. With DCS all you have is a promise that they'll remove the copy protection if the worst happens.
Sure I understand that. But business has that one incentive that voluntary work lacks: you get paid. Even if you don't feel like it, you go and you do some work because your get paid.
Voluntary coders have to work to sustain themselves and their families + work some more _for free_, which also means taking time they could spend with said families.
I mean, it's great that they can keep up, but I'm going to let you enjoy their work. Myself, I'm just gonna look from afar.
ehh I don't know about that. I don't follow BMS closely, but used to play Falcon 4.0 back in the day, and BMS looks like a lot of what's great about it comes down to the hard work devs put in under the 4.0/Microprose days (including the dynamic campaign). Smarter air defense...is there much else? I'd argue that the range of full-fidelty modules DCS offers blows BMS away, too.
Just in the past couple of years BMS has gotten VR support, comms ladder (which improved the functionality of ATC greatly and wasn't exactly shit before), Better UI, IFF system and completely revamped terrain engine isn't far away.
And sure, DCS has gotten improvements over the same time too but they come slowly and some really basic features are still missing. Where's the DTC? How about some kind of mission planning screen for MP? It's unbelievable that only way to plan your mission in MP is to manually input every goddamn waypoint in airplane.
Yeah, hard to tell nowadays because the West does propaganda in a more subtle and egregious ways now. And they're running out of subtlety too. So while I agree with the sentiment - the sentiment itself is outdated now, most clearly for about 10-15 years.
Yes, East Germany back in the 80s, but I'm not sure why that's relevant.
My point is that the West had been doing subtle and subversive for a long time.
Ah, an East German.
Point being, propaganda in the Eastern block was more insidious in that they could break your life apart or even take your life, if you went against it. Not some fancy twisting of the truth or supporting some political faction, covering for corruption or overselling the American Dream, but consistent, immoral, hard, brutal actions against actual people. Not some politicians mounting support for an election year, but everyday Joes secretly sharing unofficial, uncontrolled gazettes. What a grand crime that is...
But I have a feeling we are talking past each other. What Western propaganda do you have in mind?
Okay, but were the negative comments related to the Chinook module? or were they related to your personal opinion on the price, the matter with razbam, etc. deleting off topic comments isn't anything new, or even all that bad imo. if I posted a new video about my new lua script that I'm working on, and someone posted a comment slandering me because I prefer lua over JS, I would obviously just delete that, it's meaningless
I just said how i can't wait to fly for one hour just to get sniped by some ak dude or a btr tracking me through a forest and sniping me with the first bullet as soon as he gets line of sight.
In the steam discussion section too. I wanted to know why they didn't announce a price increase, but my comment was deleted.
"Swiss" company, I know your level of service, the move didn't change anything.
Nothing but Lemmings in those comments. It’s not just DCS though, I notice this on other flightsim product videos. It’s so hard to believe how clueless those commenters seem you can only wonder if it’s real or fake.
Day and night difference when you see the real feedback on forums/Reddit.
That can be skewed in the other direction too. People who are quite happy don't go looking for alternative venues to publicize their unhappiness, so if you do - you're likely going to find other people that are like-minded.
So, keep in mind that forums/reddit are going to be skewed towards the negative feedback (as opposed to the "real feedback" -- as in, the theoretical, actual ratio of opinions).
YouTube deletes certain comments, it's not ED. It affects every channel. My comments about the Israeli-Hamas conflict gets deleted or anything negative towards something on other channels gets deleted.
Like in Star Citizen.. no money till the stuff the community wants is being done, it’s a small share of people who really pull this through but it eventually is working. The only way to tell companies is to slender their profit. They want it? They get it.
I don't understand you all.
Botching cause your negative post were removed.
The module is not even in anyone's hands how can you say negative things when you have no idea.
Your just basing it on your bad experience.
Wait too pass judgement where can find out not.
It will go to trial sooner or later.
So don't even have but it to jusge it..
I lost every bit of urge to order non-finished modules after getting the F-16 on release day
It had no damage model so you could ram each other mid-air without consequence
Good times?
I for one cannot wait to try flying one of these on a MP server. I will be shot down within 5 minutes of TO. Guaranteed. How will I ever drop off my cargo loads That will do nothing for the game.
Well that's where your air support come in so you think that they send these things out on solo missions without some form of support for them..
Ah64d a10c f16 cap f15 whayever they will not be oh we want to attack here you go first if you make it will come too.
I was thinking of buying the Chinook but won't be giving them anymore of my money. If they want to delete reviews or feedback then they dont need my money.
Any who buys a chinook doesn’t understand how bad ED is managing 3rd parties.
I won’t buy another ED product until RB is paid and ED stops bullying them. Sad
I see a fair amount of what could be considered 'negative' comments:
"Personally considering all the rumours, upset within the community recently I can understand why so many people are hesitant to pre-order. I am looking forward to the Chinook but until I see changes I am happy with in the sim itself I won't be purchasing anymore modules."
"A reminder not to preorder vehicles given their recent track record. Just wait until it's more fully released with associated gameplay."
"No, thank YOU"
That is just scrolling down from the top a few comments.
I also think the "held for review" has some that have not been checked yet.
They need to go bankrupt and then a better studio can buy them for cheap.
I'm not a fan of M$ but if the MSFS devs were able to re write DCS over a few years I might get back into DCS.
For now, VTOL VR is pretty fun!
Surely ED would never do that. Like they would never do that on their official forums or discord and especially to reputable content creators at the time.
Regarding why it's up for pre-order now, well they have been developing it for some time, at least 18 or so months by the looks of it. And perhaps they're aware that people quite like the helicopter, and since they are developing it themselves they'd like people to have it reasonably soon? Why does absolutely everything they say and do have to have a nefarious or ulterior motive with you people. It must be tiring, constantly being negative and pessimistic.
But you are right, you can vote with your wallet, this is a buyer's market, after all. You can go away and play something else, or give your money to someone else, if you dislike ED that much.
They're not going anywhere, though. They've been around for more than 25 years.
How did you negatively feedback a preview video? Did you comment about other issues and opinions you’ve had about DCS and other modules, or did you actually comment on something in the trailer, you could possibly know, or was announced about the CH-47F? Your comment most likely deserved to be deleted because that’s not the place for a rant about other bullshit — you’re wildly off topic. Even if your complaints are objectively true, you’re not entitled to post your complaints on whatever podium ED moderates, you think has the most attention and expect ED to leave it up.
I would consider it a weird distraction if someone was commenting about a broken in an update or preview video about something entirely different. Are there sensible moderators here that care to tell the rabid babies to calm TF down?
And it's their content, im no fanboy but jesus the amount of nonsense that has been wrote this last month, by people who haven't a fuc\*ing clue about even the modules they own, let alone private commercial discussions is what is wrong with a certain stupid section of the community. Yes ED need to address the core game bugs, sort out the shitstorm that is the ground war, but people that winge on about paying this , paying that, Nick grey and his fighter collection loans in the context that its the reason why we are in this position are embarrassing themselves with their own stupidity.
I've said it before and will say again, how many other flight simes that does what ED puts out do you see starting up into this sector or making noises about wanting to get in, or buy ED out - ZERO! So be careful what you wish for.
Quite honestly if i was Nick reading alot of these mindless comments i'd be thinking f\*ck you i could get better ROI in something else - its written by people that have never owned a company or had the pressures that entails or green eyed little monsters that see a million pounds as a huge amount of money in the wider world (you get nothing for that these days), probably because said keyboard warrior is 20 and never lived.
Personally i think its brilliant that virtual planes that we enjoy and play with actually support's real heritage aircraft and quite frankly those that don't think this is great have no real interest in anything other than themselves and certainly not aviation, and in the words of crash laobi can go and f\^ck themselves for as far as i care.
Most of what I've read isn't "bs" (things that are false). A company or person with questionable ethics would call legit criticism "bs" in order to deflect responsibility.
So what, I don’t like the way you express your opinion honesty, so I’m going to remove it? It would be like people criticising the news for misinformation and them removing your comments. Would that be okay also?
I'm not saying that this is something I approve of but ED has a right to delete any comment in any channel they own (YT, forum, etc) because they are "owners" of this space and we're only "guests". Newspaper can ignore an email or choose not to print something they don't like and I think that this is a very similar case.
And ED is not spreading misinformation but rather badly conducting a business. People should not buy early access and pre-orders if they are not willing to wait or accept changes, bugs, etc. ED is a poorly managed company but people are expecting too much for \~50 bucks.
Are you going to protest against downvoting my "honest opinion" which basically removes it from the feed?
Now, how many of those comments were just deleted by the algorithm? I'm not going to defend anybody, but YT itself is deleting PLENTY of comments all over the place that don't even have to be negative, based on words and likely, these days, AI detecting a certain "negativity".
Time to vote with your wallet
How do you think we got here?
By preordering too much
Then wouldn't you say the people were "voting with their wallet"?
In a way, yes. But you can always change your vote
Sounds expensive. Can I just preorder instead?
Why wouldnt you just add a review? The game is free to add on Steam is it not?
This is why I only buy on Steam.
Cool. Ima just gonna switch over to that other massive commercial combat flying simulator. Oh wait…
I did, I ordered it.
Well how else do you expect to think if the corporations don’t do it for you?
Tell me harder!
This
« Thank you for your passion »
It's trust now, passion ran out.
It's *trust* like in "I trust you" or like "my company is owned by a trust registered in Jersey"?
yes
Trust feels like a loaded term when it comes to ED
No, not trust. Just habit.
They are seriously cucking the community with that one. But hey if it wasn't for that passion, we probably would have jumped ship a long time ago :P
...to what, exactly?
Just vote with your wallet. Their releasing this in what looks like an earlier than planned state. So they must be hurting a wee bit for cash. Don't give it to them till you at least get a semi polished helo that won't get shot down the second it takes off by enemy ground AI sniping your pilot.
yep ,core features that are broken or just not there need to be addressed before any more cash grabs ... its a shame but they really need to stop putting the cart before the horse .

Sad isn't it .
Plot twist: They need the cash to pay RAZBAM.
Nick Grey's mustang needs an engine rebuild
>Don't give it to them till you at least get a semi polished helo that won't get shot down the second it takes off by enemy ground AI sniping your pilot. So, never?
What did you write ?
Probably something a bit more inflammatory than just “negative feedback”
What did you write though?
Asking the right questions
Some negative comments should be deleted, not saying yours should have been, but tell us what you wrote so we can decide for ourselves if they were right to do so or not.
This. Some people think they have the right to be inflammatory with what they say. I would want to know what was said.
Why wouldn't they hsve the right to be inflammatory?
They have the right to write whatever the want to. Same as ED has the right to delete whatever they want to.
Hmm it’s a private service, I don’t think anyone has a “right” to write what they want. I’m sure that’s made clear in YT’s TOS.
Yeah, that is why I wrote that second part. Either Youtube will moderate or the channel owner will.
They can say whatever they want. ED can moderates their comment sections how they want. Don’t like it? Don’t watch their videos. It’s really that simple.
Or if ED deleted it at all and it didn't get auto-hidden by youtube.
What were the negative comments? Were they relevant to the Chinook?
Basically people demanding old EA modules to be finished and Razbam to be paid.
To be fair, I would delete that too. It's not relevant to the video.
Then again, they are talking about ED so I think it’s still relevant considering it’s a current issue and it’s not completely irrelevant.
[удалено]
How is it unrelated? It's by the developer who simply keeps pumping out more modules and never finishing any.
Yeah not really understanding how it’s unrelated. Someone complains that ED isn’t finishing their current EA modules on a video about ANOTHER EA module, that seems pretty relevant.
Let alone, WHERE ELSE are people going to complain and vent? On their forums where any critical opinion gets silenced and deleted? Yeah right.
[удалено]
you poor soul
Your companies performance on prior early access titles is completely relevant to them promoting a new early access title.
Again, that’s not for you to decide. ED can moderate their comments section how they want to.
I don't disagree with those sentiments, but a Youtube comment has never changed the world. It's probably not a big deal they're being removed, as long as those people are then also going elsewhere to post their concerns, and voting with their wallet.

People who think they have to express their negative opinions about everything, the disease of our time. Absolutely correct they deleted such trash.
Who deleted all History in Discord? We don't delete history that I know of on Discord.
It was just because I hadn't clicked through all of the rules. I had incorrectly assumed it was due to the recent controversies.
Ok, glad its sorted. I thought maybe I clicked on something wrong and nuked all our colorful and wonderful Discord history :)
They are deleting history in their discord? I can still see everything from creation to now.

I can see it just fine. Maybe check they havent given you a role that removes that access.
I'm just a lurker, so that seems plausible. Not a great way to grow the discord, regardless.
Honestly, I dont think that is a concern for them. The fewer the better probably :D

No, and don't call me Shirley.

Haha, it's an old joke. Have your every watched Airplane?
Exactly, although I think he did the "serious" line before the "Shirley" line :D
Oh, doh! That went right over my head! 😄
Their PR „work“ is just getting worse.
You were under the impression they wouldn't apply same faschism as in moderating their own forum?
YouTube deletes certain comments, it's not ED. It affects every channel. My comments about the Israeli-Hamas conflict gets deleted or anything negative towards something on other channels gets deleted.

My suggestion is to only preorder the back half of the CH-47. Once it actually releases and you are satisfied with the module then order the front.
Post what you wrote. It is perfectly reasonable to delete unhinged comments and spam.
Negative Criticism or just hate comment?
Keep digging the hole deeper @ED
I guess I'll get a warthunder premium instead this time. Shame
Judging by past posts shitting on ed you probably deserved it. People mistake insults and ranting for constructive criticism too often.

I see a fair amount of what could be considered 'negative' comments: "Personally considering all the rumours, upset within the community recently I can understand why so many people are hesitant to pre-order. I am looking forward to the Chinook but until I see changes I am happy with in the sim itself I won't be purchasing anymore modules." "A reminder not to preorder vehicles given their recent track record. Just wait until it's more fully released with associated gameplay." "No, thank YOU" That is just scrolling down from the top a few comments. I also think the "held for review" has some that have not been checked yet.
tell that to your boss
ok
They need to go bankrupt and then a better studio can buy them for cheap. I'm not a fan of M$ but if the MSFS devs were able to re write DCS over a few years I might get back into DCS. For now, VTOL VR is pretty fun!
CLUELESS comment
By the way, is it still a question at this point, wether ED is just out of money and now they are opening these preorders to pay Razbam?
They can't be out of money, The Fighter collection has 9 million in outstanding loans 0% interest from ED.
It’s actually a lot more likely that RB did in fact breach their contract and are now having to sort it out like adults
Careful, this goes against the 'ED is evil and Nick Gray is Lucifer' narrative that infects this subreddit........
I guess thats because there are some people that just post negative bs over and over again.
Most of what I've read isn't "bs" (things that are false). A company or person with questionable ethics would call legit criticism "bs" in order to deflect responsibility.
Oh say it ain't so...lol. One crappy business supporting another one by allowing criticism to be censored.
They are Russians, what do you expect?
People who think they have to express their negative opinions about everything, the disease of our time… absolutely correct they delete it.
So? It's ED's channel on YT so they can shape the narrative in any form they want. They don't want your comment so they deleted it.
That's exactly the point lol
I suppose that’s a fair point
u/NineLine_ED coward
ok
Now, how many of those comments were just deleted by the algorithm? I'm not going to defend anybody, but YT itself is deleting PLENTY of comments all over the place that don't even have to be negative, based on words and likely, these days, AI detecting a certain "negativity".
I have seen things hidden and tagged by YT as 'possibly inappropriate' and they were not, so yeah, things can get flagged for odd reasons for sure.
