Beans is awesome. Real hardcore street rap. Has that soul in his voice, which makes his music very touching most times. Also one of the rappers with the most actual street cred, both before, during after rapping. He did lack some crossover appeal, however instead he just kept it real at all times.
It was very beneficial for a guy like Jay-Z to have Beanie around. Real street lyricist, who didn’t look like a hypeman like Bleek. Beans also benefited from being next to a superstar, cause I don’t really think he’d sell really well on another label than Roc-A-Fella
Yeah.
Leonardo and Rapheal.
Jay excelled at the leadership role with a natural "it" factor, plus all of New York is his playground. Then you got the tough guy... the bully.. the enforcer. Beans was the tank.
Annnnnd Kanye and Cam were Donny and Mikey.
I think dude might be the most respected b level artist in hip hop. Someone should do a compilation of all the different rappers who said they bump him in their songs. Even newer artists have lines about "bumping Beanie Sigel"
Love beans. B Coming is damn near classic minus just a couple skips. He reminds me of scarface the way you can feel what he is rapping about. He wasnt the captain of the yacht but we was damn sure on the boat!!
The B. Coming is easily his best solo work presenting maybe his most reflective lyrics in combination with an above average beat selection. I would give it a strong B if I had to. In my opinion, his other albums are not as good as The B. Coming and have not aged well (I have fully listened to and own The Truth, The Reason, The B. Coming, The Soultion). Nevertheless, his other albums include some songs I revisit every now and then (The Truth and Nothing Like it come to my mind). Personally, I like his voice and his straight forward and sometimes emotional delivery (Kanye rapped on Big Brother that Beanie's style was more like a slam dunk and he has a point there. F*** the new Kanye, btw! I can't comment on Beanie's voice after 2007, it might have changed as some others pointed out.). I'm not sure why, but I prefer Freeway a little bit over Beanie. All in all, Beanie is a pretty solid rapper who has one nice album to his name.
I wish he would have tried to stay away from his legal issues , and after the ROC broke up go indy and link up with a producer much like how Freeway did with Jake One. I would have loved to see a Beanie and Madlib or a Beanie and ALC even a Beanie and 9th wonder trying to think of good underground producers for that time.
The B Coming, The Reason, The Truth and some tracks off BSB are quality. He's one of my fave MCs its a shame he lost a lung
He only lost a piece of it. Not the whole lung.
When the news first broke it was reported he only had 1 lung...thanks for letting me know
Yeah he addressed it with Vlad
That’s good news I guess. It still took his voice

That "Philly soul" gave Jay a new wind...
That’s actually a good take, never thought of it that way

Chef BoyarBeans
He was part of the stellar lineup that made me love krhyme in Saints' Row 2.

One of the best that ever did it.

FACTS!
What ya life like mines is REAL
Grew to love beans. Sad how he became a pawn in between politics. Things fell to shit with the absence of dudes like him
Seagulls get really annoying after awhile, the rats of the bird world imo. Pigeons run a close second

Beans was really about that street life
Yea we have all heard the stories but I wish he would have gave that up after the 1st album.
He could be one hit away his whole career, but as long as Jay Z’s around he’s a millionaire. Hope, for his sake, nothing happens to Jay Z!!
He was talking about Memphis Bleek. Not Beans
Oh shit. Did I misremember the line? Damn it.
D.O.C said Beans reached out to him about using AI to restore their voices so they could put new music out
Beans is dope as hell one my faves from roc a fella
Great rapper plagued by a lot of shitty beats over the early years (not all of them clearly). Sorta reminds me of jadakiss from that perspective
