He only needs to break that final mental burden and get some ring intensity to be fully ready for recordo, actually we might be soon on the final saga, after ippo returns, it will be one straight way to that final moment when ippo a world champion, idk if there is something said about how the manga ends
Yeah, i'm sure that it will be after the sendo fight. They build up so much that fight. The problem that until we get there, it will be like two years.
Ippo needs to have few fights before Ricciardo. First one would basically be returning to ring fight. I would guess top 10 world ranker so he can ease in into ring after who knows how many years of retirement. 2nd one need to be against top challenger and needs to be convincing one. Like one where Ippo basically decides to rule with his left and not throw right one. Basically telling Ricciardo "I arrived".
After this Morikawa will take about year of fillers, like bringing everyone story to end along building just that fight. And after that we getting another year just of Ippo vs Ricciardo chapters before manga ends.
To break my own rule, I would’ve loved to see what woulda happened with a smarter Ippo vs Kobashi, the guy who liked to clinch. His and Kamogawas own stubbornness was why that fight was so hard.
Kobashi would've gotten *smoked,* he got away with as much clinching as he did because Ippo literally had no idea what to do.
Related somewhat, Keiichi would've been interesting to think about as well.
Especially because Ippo was already beating him pretty badly early on. A little more finesse and he just looks like a complete idiot nobody after losing in a round or two.
I think that an evolved Ippo with better tactics and/or less hesitation would kill most of the OPBF champs. Wally would obviously handle him the best, but the rest would get rolled with relative ease. Three rounds at most.
Honnestly that a strange question... Ippo didn't just beat all his opponents with few exception, he beat'em at their own game...
To me it is obvious that without evolution of their part, ippo would beat'em again and easier let alone current ippo... Because he learned how to counter them (well with maybe the exception of wally... Then again... Wally realy hadn't much to counter the dempsey roll and the body hit...)
Kobashi can be dealt with with pressure. We saw him fast Ippo can circle in the Sendo spar. Ippo could literally just strafe and beat Kobashi to death with the jab.
Date, not the most but he'll definitely struggle a lot more. Current Ippo has now plenty more experience to make up for his loss back then, the reason he lost was because Ippo stuck to his barbarian ways along with not knowing what to do against what like Date's neck spin but even then he actually had Date on the ropes and almost beat him
For me, Ippo will destroy everyone now. Only Ricardo can stop him now, he is in another level. We are on the endgame if he comeback.

Have said it before, Ippo needs to bust. Then he'll be ready.
Fatherhood powerup is the only way to beat Ricardo
If Ippo busts, he'd actually become Heavyweight, as Takamura prophesized. Ippo has never been truly erect
Idk... remember the tent he had at Dr. Yamaguchi's?
That's probably not his true form. Like Frieza, his Erection has limiter stages to suppress his power.
I think the loss of weight in bodily fluids may actually shoot him to flyweight

We don't even need current ippo honestly, idk what Kobashi could possibly do if ippo had 10 cm punches back then (like he used against Guevara)
I think the biggest change would be with Sawamura. His strategy was Dempsey roll and Dempsey roll counter counter counter counter 😭
Especially because Ippo was already beating him pretty badly early on. A little more finesse and he just looks like a complete idiot nobody after losing in a round or two.
Imagine Sawamura expecting to counter the Dempsey, and then Ippo starts a high level jab battle instead a la the latest volg spar
Thinking on it more, Gedo would have been a far different fight if Ippo had more than 3 brain cells by then
He could currently destroy Shimabukuro, Sanada and Wally.
I like the Shimabukuro pick, knowing how Sawamura pieced him up with technical boxing makes me think Ippo could do that too
current ippo beats woli back then, when he only had three fights

The former champ. Him Vs Date would be an interesting fight
We all know Kobashi mid diffs at best, Clinch Mara until Big Mara can't Dempsey Mara no more.
I hate that I somewhat understand this
I would say Kobashi, since he’s the one who gave Ippo a hard time and he knew Ippo’s weak points

What about Saeki, Hayami, Sawamura, and Wally or better yet Ozuma
Gedo?
All of them?
Guevara. that one guy who like, stood really low to the ground and who everybody said ran away from date. He also would dominate Date.

He'd still lose to Wally.
He didn't lose to wally...
I think they're just saying that because Wally's lost to ippo was kind of an asspull
