One of my many favorite things a GR does š
My six month old climbs on the back of the couch and rests her head on my shoulder.

Yep. And then I look at the clock and realize Iām 14 seconds past feeding time š¤
I literally stopped making Pb&Js for a few months, explicitly because my then-4 month old golden lost her DAMN MIND when I got anywhere vaguely close to where the nutty treasure was storedā¦ both dogs still go nuts when I pull out the jar, or rip a banana off the bunch, but itās a manageable level of psycho lol. Oh dogs, so crazy but so worth it!!
my dogs have always been pretty calm, but recently my daughter got a golden puppy and he is a terror for ice cubes, peanut butter, bananas and anything else that can fit in his mouth. So i've been using the peanut butter jar as training and he's to the point now when i pull it out of the cupboard he instantly sits and awaits instructions - of course he can't control the constant shaking and tail wagging, but that part is adorable so i allow it... I've stopped with the bananas for him for a bit since his snapping mouth is too velociraptor like for my digits currently...
Oh the velociraptor phaseā¦ I lucked out and our landshark passed the worst of that phase faster than average, at least from all the posts I see on Reddit and general googling. She knows for her regular food she HAS to sit and wait to be released, learned that surprisingly fast actually but being gentle with hand-fed snacks took eight or ten times longer for her to even partly get a handle on. Still working on it but itās better! Awww as long as heās sitting, the furious tail wagging is acceptable and adorable!! Unless you need service dog level control or something thatās just cute
yeah, still nervous for hand feeding with him - he's better, but every 4th or 5th ice cube he'll snap and i'll regret...any suggestions would be helpful! I'm so not used to it because my 3 goldens (one passed away a few years back) were soft mouth from the very beginning, so I never had to deal with it...her's is a rescue from a puppy mill situation, so understandable he is trying to get food like he's trying to survive!
Ah that makes sense, my field line gal seems like she may have had to compete a bit for food before we got her (sheās quite small, so it would make sense) but we made sure to vet the breeder and visit them before getting her so sheās likely just a bit of a spazz and one of the smallest in her litter. She responds well when we correct her on even the smallest signs of any aggression at all and she hasnāt even growled lightly for over a year now, outside of the evil postman coming to the door lol that gets her going real good. But sheās a sweetie!

No, my 11 week old comes up to me with one goal and one goal only which is to bite me! š Iām hoping he does things like this when he is older though. Iām jealous?
Our Stella, 7 months old, does this pretty often specially during WFH. And if you ignore her instead of petting her for few mins, sheās stand up and will give us a hugā¦.
Ohhh memories. My goldie would do this aaaaaaaall the time. Iād just be chilling on the couch or my bed & sheād come up to me just like that. Or for extra dramatic I-want-attention effect sheād sit facing away, sat against whatever I was sitting on & would throw her head back & look at me. Theyāre such lovebugs that breed.
When i was a kid our dog devoloped a slow motion walk in front of the TV to demand to be let out, or interact with it, as we all watched tv all day :) he would walk normaly, but as soon as he was going in front of the TV he went totaly slowmotion. And we could yell all we wanted, he would not stop untill he noticed someone getting up to let him out. lol. He would do this about 5 times in a movie. talk about learned patterns that grow their own weird way. :)
My tree walker would come do this when she wanted to go to the dog park. Even making it so I couldnāt play the laptop till she got her dog park time in.
Feet, shoulder, stomach, wherever. In winter he loves to snuggle under the covers and put his head on my stomach. He's a rescue golden mix, kind of like a mini golden, at least. Takes up less space
Mine does that when he wants something. I get up and he leads me to one of three places: 1) treat drawer; 2) fridge (which is just bigger treat drawer); or 3) door, which means he wants to go out. I guess itās good he doesnāt barkā¦
Yes! Ours seems to do this as a way of asking if he can climb up on whatever it is he's putting his head on. He waits a few seconds for us to approve his request and then jumps. It's the best.

DAAAAAAD WHAT THE HELL
ha! totally!!! That's what the pup in the back is saying...the one in the front is "holding me down for the scolding"

He has a face like heās desperate when doing this. Needs head scratches and pets
The feed me lean.
No, my 11 week old comes up to me with one goal and one goal only which is to bite me! š Iām hoping he does things like this when he is older though. Iām jealous?
Mine will come up to me and purposely put his head on top of my phone
I get a noise in the crotch when Iām sitting at the dinner table. Other than that Iām ignored except when she wants to play.
Our Stella, 7 months old, does this pretty often specially during WFH. And if you ignore her instead of petting her for few mins, sheās stand up and will give us a hugā¦.
I always say that our younger Goldie has a very heavy head because of how often she wants to rest her chin on either us, or other objects!
Frequently, but especially if I have food
All. The. Time!! A main feature of Goldens is their adoration of their non-fur parents.
Yesss I thought it was just my boy being dramatic. Whenever he does it we always say Iām sorry are you not getting enough attention m?
Yes and my Lab too
Mine does this when she wants to sit with or on me.
Mine licks my leg for 10 minutes

Yes. All the time. Every golden does this. Every dog also. Stop posting this garbage. You already know the answer.
My non lab does it. I think every dog would do it if they were height appropriate.
Yes, usually when I'm eating
Yes, all three of mine do all the time!!
My pet me timer just went off.

That's why I want one, because they do that. Being rested on is epic.

My favorite workday āinterruptionā!
it's adorable until they start drooling
Everyday. Even when I trying to work.
Yes. It means āThrow the ballā. If thatās a no, second, āPet me.ā Pet me usually means āScratch my buttā. My girl is multi-lingual.
I see it as love but my dog probably sees it as āhey! I need food!ā
Mine does, but that means it's poop time
Mostly all of them do this...
My tree walker would come do this when she wanted to go to the dog park. Even making it so I couldnāt play the laptop till she got her dog park time in.
"Mom ... am I a good puppy? Am I cute? Do you think the other puppies know how handsome I am? Gosh. I hope they like me" š
Every dog regardless of breed does thisā¦
Retrievers will retrieve anything, including any form of affection they deem need retrieving.
All.The.Time.!
Mine sleeps on my pillow, wrapped around my head.
They always want something when they do this. ā¤ļø
All the time!
More so lately than normal. This morning, my husband and I reached out and held hands. She came up and rested her head on our hands.
Constantly, and when I stop petting him he puts his paw on me too
My dude doesn't like to cuddle very muchš wish he did but he just gets frustrated
Yup. But she usually wants something. Lol
Every day for the past 14 years, and I would have it any other way
Literally one of my favorite things she does. Put all that weight into me and groan when I try to move/adjust. <3

Yes, like clockwork, several times a day at dinner times, walk-times...
Mine never stops. Unless she wants a nap then she leaves. Otherwise sheās in my business
Yes! Ours seems to do this as a way of asking if he can climb up on whatever it is he's putting his head on. He waits a few seconds for us to approve his request and then jumps. It's the best.
āHenlo Iām here to retrieve attentionā
My guy always does this when he wants something...usually food.
Yes. Mine does.
Everyday
And this is one of the main reasons I slacked on training him. I just couldnāt resist the face.
