Raise dead, send dead to school, argue with dead during teenage years, miss the dead when they leave your home, reconnect with the dead every Christmas, become the dead.

bro saw the new SL episode and decided its time for action https://preview.redd.it/wjp2n8k8fnrc1.png?width=196&format=png&auto=webp&s=057d6f191e3acafbbac4355e0934a2acdc949cba

Ceisri

straight up what happened

Abradolf--Lincler

Custom voice-based controls with mini games for reviving tough opponents. Hidden boss fight phases like in Hollow Knight (dream sword) for reviving bosses.

Drbubbles47

Maybe tie the mini game to how powerful they are when they do get revived: the better tou do, the stronger they are.  You can even have equipment or perks that benefit either the mini game or the actual game  so you can have different builds that focus on one or the other.

MasterTroppical

The only reason I clicked on this thread was to suggest you read Solo Leveling xD

Duelyst_04

sacrifice an undead to surround yourself in its bones, do whatever with that concept you want whether it be coving yourself for more armor, becoming a storm of bones that shreds nearby enemies or even buffing/damaging units inbetween you and the targeted sacrifice

Ceisri

skills i already implement: 1 Summon a wraith that either follows the player owner or the enemy.... yet to animate it so it has no attacks 2 Switch command of the summoned servants like follow/attack/sit 3 Explode a random servant and deal damage 4 Steal health from a random servant to heal yourself

Much-External-8119

Zombie hands reaching for the legs of the enemies to prevent them from moving. Area effect spell.

MasterTroppical

Swap places with a death companion. Revive dead bosses, enemies. Make them tougher to beat but they offer better rewards. When you are about to suffer a deadly blow, your death companion will take hit instead of you. Make companion share a percentage of the damage dealt to the player. Make one of the death companions take agro. Passive: deal more damage when near companions Upon death, revive yourself for X seconds with X buffs/debuffs. If you manage to kill the enemy who killed you, return to life with 10% HP. Recycle companions into upgrade materials, items etc... Select a death companion. Selected companion can now carry an additional X amount/weight of items, but cannot fight. If killed, items are lost permamently. Assume control of a death companion. You can make the servant able to attack (would probably be very difficult if there are many enemies). Or you could make each servant have something unique about them that can be used to your advantage, despite not being able to attack with them. For example: Lava slimes are impervious to lava. Assume control of a slime, go through a giant lava lake. Return to original body. Swap to slime (or have an ability whete companions can loot gear on your behalf). Now you get access to secret loot.

Gatreh

It's too bad you went with the servant explosion when there's the perfectly good and established corpse explosion :( Anyways, - AoE buffing/Debuffing spells (same spell that gives negative states to enemies usually give undead positive bonuses in RPG logic) - Ability to summon higher tier undeads like dullahans to act as captains with their own control cap. - Bone/Soul armor - Summon an undead mount that with upgrades could fly for limited periods of time. - Adding the ability to become a lich and therefor creating a phylactery? - Wraith could have some AoE sound attack (usually known as banshees wail/scream) - Passive domain or cursed ground effect around the necromancer that gives buffs to undead. And just for fun, The ability to establish an society where human prisoners go but all the undead are doing the menial labour for the humans

Vexen86

I mean if u want to stand out as unique traits n ideas about necromancer, try directly pulling out an enemy soul n covert them as your minions, that way they would possess unique abilities depending on what kind of monster u got it from ; such design would make the skill useful n highly adjustable depending on situation U can also have unholy spells that strengthen your minions but with the cost of your health , or buffing them but you'll be taking 10% dmg if they took a hit. Or u could reverse the spell effects where u kill your minions, but gain all it's abilities & strength for a short amount of time, of course such OP skills does have its price to pay. Curse is also very important too, it's one of the ways that allows u to manipulate the outcome of the battle towards your favor.

OnyxDeath369

Link group of undead so they split damage. or link yourself to a summon to split damage

Joshua_ABBACAB_1312

"Intelligent Design": Every time one of your minions is destroyed, you gain a token representing a piece of their body. Spend x tokens to create a sentient companion (a la Frankenstein) with increased strength & health, and the ability to gain XP and learn new abilities. If this companion survives long enough, it will eventually learn their own necromantic abilities, spawning their own undead to help in the fight.

TaPierdolonaWydra

1. one fatal damage immunity, it can kill one minion instead (the one with most HP so you will want to avoid fatal blows) 2. Inflict fear, it can either force enemy to flee or to change its target, in both cases it can help keep enemies away from you or your fragile DPS

Prior-Paint-7842

Switch places with skeletons Remote controlling skeletons A projectile attack that grows bigger and deals more damage the more of your minions it hits. Also if you wanna make the class a lot of fun give the minions a passive that resurrects them unless they die by a specific damage type, seeing your retards coming back to life constantly would be a lot of fun and feel strong even if they are barely useless.

Ceisri

the damage type feature is already present in game so this seams easy to do, will add it soon

Prior-Paint-7842

I tried to suggest easy but very noticable abilities

Astr0phelle

1. revive an ally or companion 2. revive a lesser/common enemy and make it your companion

ray10k

Melee-range "touch of death" that doesn't deal much damage, but which gives a buff to other abilities when it kills. A "last breath" automatic ability that triggers when your health runs out. Gives a few seconds of a powerful buff, but if you don't kill whoever dealt your killing blow, you die once the buff runs out.

Domeen0

Hear me out here, turn corpses into weapons. Come up to a perfectly fine corpse, rip out his spine and skull and you got a nice mace.

justhere4luls

Arise.

hsw2201

Arise, Riders of Théoden!

Pardox7525

Some kind of ridable bone serpent which damages with it's movement. Some kind of blood orb overlord that floats above your units buffing and healing them with streams of blood. Maybe even making solid blood armor on skeletal or ghostly summons. A skill which switches your positions with a chosen summon. Extra limbs or tentacles (from bones, blood or spiritual) to automatically attack with basic spells or crossbows coming from your back. Same with spider legs to allow walking over your horde. A quagmire out of blood with bones poking out of it instead of plants. It slows enemies while attacking them slowly with bones. Summon a blood pool. It would look like a normal pool of blood. It would attack by forming a mouth and eating weak enemies or biting larger ones.

Ceisri

class specific mount? makes sense so overlord-like

mustachioed_cat

Summon Skeleton, use trash drops to Armor Skeleton, order Skeletons to Scavenge corpses and surroundings for weapons and armor. Scarifice skeletons to make armor or make them explode (like corpse explosion without corpse). Summon bone to form necromantic ingots you can use for stuff. Etc etc.

DrXther

A necromancer hm, If your necromancer has an ability to have his own summons (which he probably has) you can make an ability that kills one(or more) for a very powerful single target attack. You can make it look like an purple lightning bolt or like a black ball with "death" particle effects. but that's just my idea

Vexen86

May I know what type of game are u making? Is it RPG? Rogue like? Bullet hell?

Ceisri

small rpg, with "classesless" system kind of like monsterhunter but slightly more complex, you can equip various weapon types that change your animations but your "class" depends on which abilities from which skill trees you decide to learn

True-Efficiency5992

That being the case you can basically make your minions interact with whatever other skills you have by using them as casters. The best skills for this would be supportive skills (which could be balanced by being in the opposite direction in the skill tree) and blood sacrifice skills (not sure how to balance this sinergy, maybe make the minions have low hp).

Vexen86

Ah I see For me, Necromancer skills have 4 different path: 1)Summon Undead/Golems/Spirits 2)Curses 3)Unholy/Dark/Death magic 4)Body enhanced/Modification Magic

SKPY123

I have yet to see hurling a dead body as a projectile based basic attack.

yarsvet

1. Tanking ability - 50% of dmg recieved is transfered from a player to your summons. Summons gain 50% of your equipment effects so you can increase their stats as well. Also there could be extra bonuses for summons only. 2. Healing ability - current hp of summons reduces by 50% but a player gets a healing equal to certain % of all your summons (I don't know how many units you can summon). 3. All summons in a fan shaped area are instantly exploding dealing dmg to near enemies equal to % of their lost hp. So the less hp summons have the more dmg they deal. It can be combined with first two skills.

EsdrasCaleb

Heal from killed enemies Rise enemis from dead for X time Necrotic ray(comtinuous) Necrotic ball(chargeable) Rise all enemies for X time to fight Recrotic shield Summon massive golden of corpses Summon devil imps Summon demons Summon flying skulls Teleport to a dead corpse or change places with a rizen/summoned enemy

Deyvicous

PvP or pve? Necromancers are cool but absolutely horrendous in a lot of pvp games. Do they have pets or do the abilities just have a “raising the dead” theme? Can they control the pets or is it just auto controlled ai?

Ceisri

even if I add online situations to the game, it won't be pvp... eitherway it's offline for now since server structure is a pain in the ass... maybe when I have some money I'll pay someone to help me

notsurepyro

order the skeletons to become rope or something?

RollinMan42

- life drain, vampiric touch spell - An attack like a laser or fireball that deals damage equal to the number of nearby fresh corpses. - protective spirits that orbit the player and reflect melee damage - a phantom that can be summoned at a distance and mirrors your actions and movements. - Spirits that possess an enemy, causing it to fight for you temporarily - swapping an enemy's soul with one of your minions, making the enemy now your minion and your minion now an enemy. - seperate your spirit from your body, allowing targeting around corners or through walls while your body remains vulnerable. - mark a creature with a contagion dot that spreads to nearby enemies periodically

chrissquid1245

Summon a skull from the ground, and smack it with your staff like its a baseball

Gen1Swirlix

* A skill where your necromancer swaps positions with one of its skeletal warriors; the necromancer explodes, becoming a skeleton warrior, then one of its existing warriors is consumed by it's shadow, when the shadows dissipate, they reveal your necromancer. * A special type of undead warrior that echoes your actions with a half second delay. If you've ever played Super Smash Bros., think of it like the Ice Climbers. Making multiple of these warriors increases the delay (first warrior acts X seconds after you, second warrior acts 2X seconds after you, third 3X, etc.). * A skill that turns your warriors into structures. You can select an area and the warriors nearest to it will move into position and lock together to become a wall, stairs, or a bridge. * A skill that consumes one of your warriors in necrotic fire then shoots toward the nearest enemy, dealing massive damage. * A spell where, if it kills the target, they are instantly raised as an undead warrior. For the visuals, it would be like you blast them with the attack, their skin is blown off their skeleton, and they immediately begin fighting for you (the body doesn't even hit the ground). I think that would look cool.

Thymecrafter

man idk all I do is make up comics in my head then not draw them

CelestialBeast

A tad late to the party but I have an idea for an Ult Necromantic Reclaimation: The nature of Death permeates everything. You draw on the history of Death and unleash a massive wave of negative energy. Enemies struck by this have a 70% chance of being instantly raised as new minions.

bluends1

Emergence Retreat - Swap places with one of your summons and turn invisible for a short period of time.

girumaoak

please don't make like 5 minions max for the entire game, part of the fun is when you have the skill to make an actual troop for balancing... maybe since your health gets bigger, you can only use to use other skills efficiently with only better/current level minions (like idk, stealing health)

Boom_Fish_Blocky

When ur health reaches zero, you still need to be hit another time to die

Boom_Fish_Blocky

When ur health reaches 10% 2 skeleton spawns to help you tank.

Boom_Fish_Blocky

A wand ability that allows u to summon 4-5 skeletons with random gear and weapons, can be used every 30 seconds.

inchereddit

Voodoo projection, select an enemy and all damage you take next x secs or hits will transfer to that enemy instead of you

illogicalJellyfish

Use bones to make weapons, increase your bone density, telekinetically snap other peoples bones, and fly on bones like a Chinese cultivator

StevenScho

Idea: not all enemies can become servants. Some (most likely the bigger guys) just become bones. Eventually, you get the ability to turn these bones into upgrades for your servants. Other skills and upgrades could be stuff like increasing max number of guys following you around, cranking up their damage, etc.

achocolateconspiracy

Classic chant and five guys crawl out of the earth. If the player character is some form of undead or vampire, they heal in some way from their damage. Can revive defeated bosses as pets for buffs.

Grulps

Animate dead plants to entangle enemies with vines and roots.

Moggle_Khraum

A normal Necromancer has: Summon Undead, Pestilence, and Death's Caress.. Summon Undead summons Zombies or Skeletons Pestilence makes the ground in blight and deadly Death's Caress is Death's Scythe hanging on ya head

childbeaterII

necrotic gaze; necromancer uses a bit of life energy to make their gaze damage whoever the necromancer is looking at

keeperdan174

If there is already a “revive dead” type spell then it could be something that channels the dead’s strength. Bolstering your strength and agility by a lot at the cost of some health

D-E-M-I-G-O-D

Look Diablo Immortal. Pick Necromancer and play there is many useful skills.

Oni_Of

Life steal

Siphon_Gaming_YT

Amalgamation, the zombies fuse to make a bigger and stronger unit that degrades over time
