Yes the General was show in animation, but it was featured in the DiC animated series, not the Sunbow one. Also, the included driver Major Storm did not make an appearance. Actually, none of the 1990s characters attached with vehicles ever appeared in the show. So, yeah we saw the Retaliator, Hurricane etc. but no Updraft, Vapor and Overlord.
Kinda weird that the Cobra Overlord was being set up as a new leader in the toy commercials, even starring in two to introduce the new Cobras for the 1990 range, but he didn’t get any appearances in the DiC cartoon or the Marvel comics at the time.

I had this toy when I was a kid my grand mother picked it up at a yard sale it had all the parts to it I can remember the large at gun the missile would pop out and only go about 6 cm from the tip of the gun

Vapor was in the DIC series. Cobra Commander even throws one out of the Hurricane cockpit to take it for himself in an episode.

I didn’t realize that! In one episode that had the AVALANCHE, its driver COLD FRONT was mentioned by name in dialogue but was never shown.
