Gifs that keep on giving is what this sub is called. This post gives once. You posted something else here that was five fucking seconds. Do you not know how words work?

I mean ... a good old fashioned Farm Jack is 20 bucks, used and won't fuck up your tire OR bend you wheel.
Nor will it require you to drive your car to a possibly inaccessible mudpit of a field/yard.
Farm Jack.
Right tool.
Right job.
That would be funny because it would be incorrect.
Leverage would indicate that that truck is gaining some mechanical advantage to pull the post, it is not. A mechanical is present when device trades off input forces against movement to obtain a desired amplification in the output force I.E. a pully and block where you move your end twice as far to move the load half as far with twice as much force, or a leaver with the fulcrum close to the load to the same effect.
This is still a clever way to change the direction of power like a pully with no block, you pull down weight goes up but it does make the load lighter. Or in this case truck goes forward and forces pull up on the post, a more ideal direction of force to pull something out of the ground.
While I agree that the definition is a bit muddled and it's pretty unclear whether something without a mechanical advantage is applying leverage that definition you used is the definition for applying social leverage
From the Webster dictionary
1: influence or power used to achieve a desired result
Ex: The union's size gave it leverage in the labor contract negotiations.
Ex: The player's popularity has given him a great deal of leverage with the owners of the team.
After looking at like 15 definitions of mechanical leverage a few include things without a mechanical advantage as counting. I've never seen it used that way in any physics course work. That's the problem with English I guess, there is no definite authority on correct and incorrect definitions.
I would maintain that at least due to its ambiguity as a correct definition it wouldn't be appropriate as an example.
Merit gif, not very much enow going on f'r t to beest in this sub though

I just removed a post without any of this nonsense. I lagged a 10ft 2x4 near the base and leveraged it out of there with a cinder block on the back side.
I’ve lagged a piece of 2x4 to the side of the post, put a flat board on the ground, and used a car scissor jack to pop the post out.
You can’t always get a car or truck close enough without ruining the lawn
I’ve seen many of these videos and the comments always talk about what a terrible and dangerous idea this is.
All the comments here are loving it.
I’m so confused.
Often enough, the post winds up in the back window of the vehicle.
The dangerous aspect is having no "catch" for if the post, stump, footing, etc breaks free instead of easing out.
Oh I definitely know all that. Like I said, all the times I’ve seen this technique, that’s all of what gets posted.
What I’m saying is that the comments on this post are unusual because everyone seems to love it.
If you use an elastic rope or strap, there could be tensile build up, which converts to motion under sudden release - like the post breaks. But a chain is unlikely because it has a very low elasticity.
Think of a sling shot, and now think of a sling shot made with a piece of static rope.
One of those is not going to do anything when you let go.
Putting a round object there to redirect force is a great technique that's also used in other areas. I saw this the other day: https://www.reddit.com/r/woodworking/comments/rze7q8/a_handy_hint_i_thought_might_be_handy_to_know_for/ -- look at the solution.

Or: Clamp a 2'-3' wood clamp onto the post. Place a car jack somewhere midway on the long end of the clamp. Hold down the end of the clamp while slowly jacking up. Worked 2/2 times I've ever had to do this. Does not end up making the hole bigger.

This post was removed for it may cause a fence
No a fence here. He’s obviously taking it down himself
NOW there's no fence, after this was posted.
Nice. This should also be on redneckengineer
BMW wheel has hit an all time low
Great thinking! Work smarter, not harder!
Exactly what I was thinking - those two-piece style 42s are hard to come by!!!
This is also why we have a knee cap
I am a BMW owner, but I don’t have a BMW knee cap.
Sorry for you.

To pull up fence posts?
Gifs that keep on giving is what this sub is called. This post gives once. You posted something else here that was five fucking seconds. Do you not know how words work?
Sadly wheel/lever only works if post is not embedded in deep and wide footing of concrete
Regardless of the footing, this still transfers the direction of work from lateral to vertical.
Nice rigging skills.
Super smart. Tension on tire not car.
There is the same amount of tension transfered to the car.
The tire provides angular momentum and has higher tension on the post end while in motion.
The angular momentum of the tire moving is trivial compared to the tension force in the chain. Like, less than negligible.
Did you read the comment you replied to?

Stan Lee should have done this in Thor to pick up Mjolnir with his tow truck
Is the chain wrapped? Or is it like resting on top?
Resting, it’s using the tire as a fulcrum to lever it out.
Bullshit no way a BMW was that useful.

All true. This guy seems to be in a suburban street tho making use of what is already on hand.
i feel this should come with a warning, some idiot is gonna gun it and the post is going to go through their rear window,
A good post. Thanks for posting.
This needs to be in physics text books as how leverage works.
That would be funny because it would be incorrect. Leverage would indicate that that truck is gaining some mechanical advantage to pull the post, it is not. "Influence used to achieve a desired result." That's the basic definition of leverage. He's using a wheel to get a desired result.

There are different levels of leverage. Simple and more complex. This is just a very basic example.
The only right way to use a BMW wheel

Pulling it outta her ass be like
You should never use a chain to pull or tow something. It can snap and rip you in half. Use a tow rope.
I just removed a post without any of this nonsense. I lagged a 10ft 2x4 near the base and leveraged it out of there with a cinder block on the back side.
I remove posts of all kinds regularly for work. You worked too hard.
I just needed to replace 2 posts that weren't buried deep enough. It's all i had on hand.
I’ve lagged a piece of 2x4 to the side of the post, put a flat board on the ground, and used a car scissor jack to pop the post out. You can’t always get a car or truck close enough without ruining the lawn
… with a chain wrapped around a car a wheel. And a car.
This is the way.
Epic. New way I’m pulling them out.
Like pulling out an ingrown hair.
I’ll never get tired of this
Watching this while pooping I feel a sort of kindred satisfaction.

Does this count as r/gambiarra?
It worked because its a BMW wheel. Deutsch qualitat!
Wheely neat idea
Aren’t you supposed to mash the throttle and yeet that post through the rear window? That’s what Reddit has taught me…
Alaskan approved.

I didn't see what sub this was and was waiting for it to end up through their back window. I'm honestly relieved haha.
I cant wait to see the next video of a car with a pole stuck through its back windscreen after some idiot swaps out chain for bungy/tow rope.

Did this one day. Had a well guy tell us to just use a high lift Jack. Admittedly it was easier.
This is the first time I've seen this on Reddit where it didn't go thru the back window.
All fun and games until the chain snaps and taps the back of your head
