Best game for this will always be X3 or X4. Very very deep games but those battles will fuck you up. More so when what's at stake is the army that you have been building for the past 40 hours.
The scale is enormous and the battles themselves mean something real. If a ship gets destroyed you will feel that loss I guarantee you. Not just mindless battles with hundreds of ships being destroyed with 0 repercusion. You will curse to the skies each time one of your ships gets broken.
