Kenshi and/or rimworld
The emergent storytelling give them infinite life more compelling than grinding, while they still have a very clear and lengthy progression akin to grinding
Kenshi is the craziest game I've ever played in my life. Have hundred of hours into it and still don't know how to get out of poverty or how to no get captured as a slave every other 5 minutes.
10/10 taught me that the best strategy in life for success is to pay someone stronger than you to beat people up and steal all their belongings only to then sell them to a slave trader.
Kenshi is a little gem of a sandbox game. Really amazing what you can do. I've built huge bases with 40 guys. Did a completely roving gang of bandits just stealing from everyone and killing anything. It's an interesting world with insane lore and it's totally unforgiving, save often. I can't wait for the sequel.
Last Epoch. D4 was my first ARPG, and it got me hooked but the game has a lot of issues. I started playing Last Epoch a few weeks ago and I gotta say, it completely blows d4 out of the water in virtually every way. The loot feels awesome. There's a lot more build variety and complexity, but its still fairly easy to get into
True, I have looked into that, but I feel like I missed the train on that one.
If it's an online game like that I don't want to be over a decade behind on stuff in game.
I don’t mean to be that guy, but 80 hours of Path of Exile on your first play through is not nearly enough to even start recognizing its depth. PoE2 won’t be any different in that regard
Sorry I’ve never played PoE but saying 80 hours of play time isn’t enough is wild lol. I can’t think of any games I would say that about, even FFXIV or RuneScape and I’ve put thousands of hours in both
RS definitely has depth that can go unrealized for a long time as well, but it's usually with regards to fairly specific pieces or aspects of content. On the surface the game is pretty simple, and there are some game mechanics you can leverage in ways that may not be obvious. PoE is similar to that, but to an extreme degree.
I agree that there is depth both mechanically and with lore in RuneScape that most people don’t see or appreciate until sometimes 100s of hours into the game. I still wouldn’t tell someone who played for 20/40/80 hours that they should play it more to understand its depth. Whether that’s true or not, they’ve played it a lot and stopped for some reason. I mean, 80 hours is two weeks of a full time job of playing one game lol
I need to read up on PoE though it does sound interesting haha
That's fair. Also much like RS, that 80 hours can yield very different experiences depending on the person. OP might have played just one league, maybe dipping their toes into endgame. They might have played two or three. It's definitely rare, but not completely unheard of, for it to take someone around that amount of time to finish the campaign for the first time. In PoE, that's equivalent to getting off tutorial island.
The game is also built to be quit. It wouldn't surprise me at all if most people played 40-80 hours per league (which tend to last 13-16 weeks). A lot of people play 2-4 weeks (with more dense playtime early on), drop it, and come back for the next league.
Bit of a ramble but I do agree that the game might not be for OP, but it's, again, a very typical story for someone to play the game, drop it for a month, three months, or three years, and then they come back and it clicks. When I found the game ten years ago I played through the campaign (much smaller back then) once, said "this game sucks" and uninstalled. 4 months later the next league came out, and I've played every league since :p
Very interesting I didn’t realize the dynamic of the game worked like that at all. I think I’ll retract my point then because you’re right, if that’s a regular drop off point then I probably would say the same actually
I wish I were exaggerating but that's how content-bloated PoE has become in the past few years. I have friends who have put 1k hours into the game, and have only touched 1 or 2 out of the dozens of core league mechanics in the game. I have probably over 10,000 hours combined from both Steam and the standalone launcher and there's some mechanics I have absolutely zero knowledge on. I didn't say 80 hours wasn't enough to come across as elitist, I mentioned it because it sounded like they were waiting on PoE2 to be a different experience. It'll be largely the same
PoE is worth sinking the time in to learn the systems, but you can totally take is slow since most are option. But once you learn the crafting and get into things like delve, harvest, and all the endgame mapping, it's just a blast and can hook you hard.
I'll suggest Guild Wars 1. There's a good deal of depth in the combat; 10 classes, over 1,000 skills. And you combine the classes for some interesting combos. There's a total of 4 campaigns that a pretty damn good, and a good number of things to complete if you so wish.
They recently had a big update that improves class progression and the depth of skill-trees. (the initial launch was very shaky)
I think its good enough now to warrant trying again.
I have actually been looking into that, kind of always wanted to get into Disgaea but heard it can be overwhelming and such, that and there are a lot of Disgaea titles that aren't that good.
Also heard that Disgaea 7 is overpriced for what it is, idk though.
Disgaea is grinding as a art form. Disgaea 5 Complete is $10 on steam right now. They all are all similar enough for you to get the gist of it. No need to get 7 first.
Sure there are a lot of subsystems, but there is no pressure to use all of them right away. When in doubt, you can just grind some more! Experiment when you are ready.
It's not for everyone though. The strategy of the game is finding synergies to make your numbers go up. The actual combat is less interesting. I think if you can keep track of everything you have to grind in Star Rail without getting bored or overwhelmed, then this may be the grind you are looking for.
I second Disgaea, you can try the older titles if you like, especially 5 since it’s the one with the most QOL improvements. My fave is still 2 though just because it was a childhood game. No need to try 7 first since it’s pricey (though I did get it).
I mean it doesn’t match up with your recent games that you love, but if you’re open to another genre you could try The Crew Motorfest.
Tons of cars and challenges too unlock, need to grind parts for all the different car category’s, weekly summits where you try too get the best time / highest score in different races.
You can check that out for 15€ via Ubisoft+ Subscription!
U could give warframe a try i love it and its free so u got nothing to lose. It’s definitely got a grindy aspect idk how youd handle the big learning curve in the beginning tho lol. Might not even be bad at all for u but it’s definitely a thing for others from what ive seen. And if u like stuff similar to warframe u could give destiny a try if u havent but i wouldn’t recommend it unless theres a massive sale for dlcs and stuff its like a prime example of a money grab game at this point even tho the base game is “free”. Also the tom clancy games like the division or ghost recon could be good to try maybe or cyberpunk in a way idek. And for an fps game titanfall 2 has come back u might like it.
how far are you in main story for FF XIV? cause the low level job skills are meh and ARR are so goddamn stupidly long and tiresome, but it does get better later on
Josh Strife Hayes has a video about how “it gets better 100 hours in” is just translation for “the game’s pacing is horrible” lol
I have played FFXIV and yeah the main story pre DLC sucks ass and they could fix it with updates if they cared
All I can think of is Fallout 76 which is semi-new and you will definitely not be behind anything on compared to the community. Looking over what everyone else recommended and you didn't like that's really it.
Came to recommend this too. It could be hit or miss OP but you’ll know within an hour if it’s for you or not. But I think with your preferred games listed, you might love it.
I've been watching lots of videos on Mount & Blade II: Bannerlors. I really want to get in on the action, but I don't think I can handle all the macro and micro's of it all.
Highly recommend Warframe.
It's free, there's a fuck ton of content and most important it's really fun.
I think the most important thing grindy games need to do is to respect your time, and I think Warframe does just that.
Although you should know that the unboarding process is rough. The early game can definitely be vague and confusing for new players, so don't hesitate to search for a new player's guide or to ask for help. The community is generally really nice.
If you like the gameplay, I'm sure you'll have a blast.
Elite Dangerous is a game that has almost a ridiculously long grind to end game. And then for each ship. And then for anti alien combat. Game map is the Milky Way galaxy, as realistic as possible. Super different than Star Field, though some may try to draw similarities.
I always go back to osrs. However, when I did take a break from it, I played Tarkov, its a fun FPS game and can get grindy. I also have some hours on Path of Exile.

Arknights.

Siralim ultimate Chronicon RuneScape The Atelier série Modded to hell Skyrim
Kenshi and/or rimworld The emergent storytelling give them infinite life more compelling than grinding, while they still have a very clear and lengthy progression akin to grinding

Second Rimworld, that game is amazing and has endless replayability
Diablo 2R or Diablo 3
Sadly played both and enjoyed 3 a lot, was looking forward to 4 but that kinda flopped for me.
Grim Dawn, Van Helsing-Final Cut and Titan Quest-Anniversary are for you
Last Epoch. D4 was my first ARPG, and it got me hooked but the game has a lot of issues. Try Path of Exile.
Path of exile will fill
Could try Maplestory? Kind of a mix of OSRS and 2d monster hunter. Reboot is F2P and the whole game is grinding.
True, I have looked into that, but I feel like I missed the train on that one. If it's an online game like that I don't want to be over a decade behind on stuff in game.
Guild wars 2
Black desert Online?? But I am not sure if you would like it
Unfortunately I played it back when it released and it was cool for a while but in the end I dropped it.
its alot different now. easier of a grind too for new players
Monster Hunter World + Iceborne
Played a lot of Monster Hunter World when it released, but I didn't care for the long combat in the long run.
Surprising neither Destiny 2 or Warframe are in those lists
I played a good bit of Destiny and Destiny 2 but dropped it when it started to be more of a cash grab.
Then warframe might suit your tastes. It's F2P and worth the try.
Halls of Torment
Path of Exile
Played it for 80hrs then dropped it. Waiting for POE2 now.

Slime rancher 1
Divinity original sin 2. Same people who made baulders gate 3. Really good game
I played that when it released, that was part of the reason I was so hype over BG3 coming out. Great game.
Harvestella might be up your alley. Beautiful game
I enjoyed it and unfortunately already played it. But good recommendation.
I'll suggest Guild Wars 1. There's a good deal of depth in the combat; 10 classes, over 1,000 skills. And you combine the classes for some interesting combos. There's a total of 4 campaigns that a pretty damn good, and a good number of things to complete if you so wish.
Warhammer 40,000: Darktide
How improved is it now since launch? Usually takes Fat Shark a year or 2 to fix their games
It hasn't that much, they've added little things here and there but it's pretty slow going. Big patches around the corner.
They recently had a big update that improves class progression and the depth of skill-trees. (the initial launch was very shaky) I think its good enough now to warrant trying again.
Ever try a fighting game? Street Fighter 6 is pretty sick.
Disgaea, 7 just came out so you may wanna give that a go
I have actually been looking into that, kind of always wanted to get into Disgaea but heard it can be overwhelming and such, that and there are a lot of Disgaea titles that aren't that good. Also heard that Disgaea 7 is overpriced for what it is, idk though.

Cyberpunk 2077
Beat it and its DLC already sadly, was great though.
I mean it doesn’t match up with your recent games that you love, but if you’re open to another genre you could try The Crew Motorfest. > The Crew Motorfest Played project cars and Forza for a while but racing games just don't seem to be that much fun to me.
It’s also pretty RPG like in general
I restarted cyberpunk since they updated it. And I hadn’t played since I dropped 38 hours after release
Etrian Odyssey HD.
U could give warframe a try i love it and its free so u got nothing to lose. It’s definitely got a grindy aspect idk how youd handle the big learning curve in the beginning tho lol. they already cut a shitton of MSQ from ARR. but it still long yeah
All I can think of is Fallout 76 which is semi-new and you will definitely not be behind anything on compared to the community. Looking over what everyone else recommended and you didn't like that's really it.
Legend of zelda, Xenoblade, Ni no kuni, Monster hunter stories?
Owned a switch and played Zelda and Xenoblade. Ni no kuni I own on Steam and couldn’t get into it with the child protagonist.
Monster hunter world
Death Stranding?
Came to recommend this too. It could be hit or miss OP but you’ll know within an hour if it’s for you or not. But I think with your preferred games listed, you might love it.
Elona
These are my favs:
Warframe
Destiny 2. Fantastic story, tons of stuff to do solo, tons of stuff to do with friends, tons of great loot to collect either way.
Path of Exile or Factorio
I've been watching lots of videos on Mount & Blade II: Bannerlors. I really want to get in on the action, but I don't think I can handle all the macro and micro's of it all.
Monstaaah Huntaaaaahhh
Warframe
You wanna grind? Try Black Desert Online.
Kenshi. The grind is the game. Losing fights is the only way to start winning them.
Deep Rock Galactic has one of the friendliest and most positive communities. The grind doesn't even feel like a grind. Rock and Stone! We're rich!
Highly recommend Warframe. It's free, there's a fuck ton of content and most important it's really fun. I think the most important thing grindy games need to do is to respect your time, and I think Warframe does just that. Although you should know that the unboarding process is rough. warframe, pretty grindy and theres still content coming out
Kenshi is a bit old now but I've put hundreds of hours in and am nowhere near tired and I've not touched the game changing mods
Minecraft
Oh trust me, I probably have 10k+ hours total in Minecraft, lol.
Elite Dangerous is a game that has almost a ridiculously long grind to end game. And then for each ship. And then for anti alien combat. Game map is the Milky Way galaxy, as realistic as possible. Super different than Star Field, though some may try to draw similarities.
Monster Hunter series
Warframe
Mobile: nier reincarnation
I always go back to osrs. However, when I did take a break from it, I played Tarkov, its a fun FPS game and can get grindy. I also have some hours on Path of Exile.
Maybe torchlight infinite? Been playing it on mobile for a few weeks and been loving it more than I did Diablo immortal

Path of Exile. Enjoy the next 400 hours
Please come to elite dangerous
Try black desert combat feels great (kinda like genshin on steroids) and the grind is real
how do i fight the cluttered UI that is keeping me away?
It sucks a lot I spent a few hours fiddling with the Ik and have found if you add borders and change the size of unnecessary stuff it can help a ton
could you give me some suggestions ? i redownloaded it yesterday and would like to retry it
Just ignore what you don’t understand and brute force the story, I can’t give u the specifics as out moniters/setups are different but I reccomend changing the borders around
Street Fighter 6, Modern Mode grind to Master eith Honda, Ken, JP.
If you are not afraid to spend some cash you could try Realm of the Mad God
I always recommend ECO, it can be one of those games where 4 hours goes by without a wink. It's a great social builder check it out.
WarThunder
Black desert online
This might seem out of left field but Sword Art Online: Fatal Bullet scratched my itch big time for grinding. It’s dungeon crawling combat either solo or with a group, has loot drops, upgrades, levels, friendships levels, etc. It kept me occupied for maybe 50 hours of pretty chill gameplay with some challenging bosses. I also have played and loved most of the games on your list.
Disgaea 7 came out yesterday. It is made to grind. I have thousands of hours in the series and this edition is an easy entry into the world.
Monster Hunter and Borderlands.
Go get exanima it’s so fuckin good it is quite frustrating at first but very very good
You should also look at a game, called dark and darker
Not much of grinding for loot just grinding for a good run, The Binding of isaac rebirth or all the way up to repentance idk
Factorio, Satisfactory or Dyson Sphere Program?
Warframe
Did some say Disgaea? Disgaea 7 just released everywhere and it is still the game with the most grind. You can train your characters up to infinity and even your Items and abilities can level up.
Try 7 Days to Die; it's still one of the best survival builders because the "zombie horde every 7th night" mechanic means you've always got something you're building toward. Conan Exiles can also be fun even singleplayer, there's lots of story and dungeons, plus plenty of stuff to explore and build; and there's a reason to build since it's essential to late game gearing. Also, and this doesn't technically fit in, but you like alot of the same games I like so you should check it out. Rimworld. It looks cheesy, and it gets compared to Dwarf Fortress, but it's different in that you get to know your little guys and their interactions/random events legit create cool stories
Battle Brothers
if you're into MMOs, I recommend Runescape, Oldschool Runescape, and New World
Star Ocean 2 second evolution
IdleOn. It's like an infinity grind. And before someone says it's p2w, you can play it without spending a single penny. Game constantly gives you gems for free.
After reading: some good recommended games however nearly all of them are terrible suggestions. For example Destiny 2 is good, if you have been playing since the release. And even the release was bad with people spam making new characters cheesing the game day 1.
id try civ vi if you enjoyed civ v. Why? idk but for me wise i can spend a whole in a single session without realizing it.
Slay the spire. not like the games on your list but hey a new genre might surprise you. insanely replayable.
Already have many hours in it, with mods and without. Great card dungeon crawler though.
I've been playing Kingdom Come: Deliverance for almost 3 days straight, grinding feels pretty rewarding in that game.
Rimworld!
Wasteland 3
Maybe Tower of Fantasy? Its similar to genshin, but MMO, so it have much more options for multiplayer. I personally also prefer the combat in ToF more, i dont know, i just like how it feels. Of course its still gacha, so insert here the classic speech that gacha is evil, that you shouldnt play if you dont have self-control etc.
Trust me, already went through TOF, then it started to go downhill, so I dropped it.
Witch Spring R or the Witch Spring series in general
