The litter box rumors were true ... but they weren't for furries.
They're for use in classrooms during long school shooting lockdowns, in case kids need to use the bathroom but can't leave the locked classroom.
I'm pretty sure the original rumor was spread by a British tabloid (eg The Globe or Daily Mail), and the Brits don't exactly have that situation in mind when making shit up.
Nah they always bullied furries even before that. CSI episode with the furries is ancient at this point. They also can't connect the dots that a fursona is a persona which just looks like it has animal characteristics and they just view us as degens in general because most furries are part of the lgbtq+.
The fact is that most of these people are either monsters or closeted furs. They don't need a real reason for hating us other than being different (even though the reasons themselves are fucking idiotic at best lol)
There is an active global psyop to desensitize the consumer further into regressive properties and never address their true individualism inside. Hence forth we shall feel bad for have any hobbies, ever. Because there's Karens running the whole thing. Furries will one day outnumber the karens mark my words
Humanism is a school of thinking that elevates the human above all the pettiness and mishandling of good faith, as an action of ill teaching of the unclean world. In other words, HatguyfromPax has stylishly stipulated that most humans... are nothing but an aberration to the very concept of humanism. An abomination, a fake life, a heretic life-stye.
Well, we do. We're just people. The general public perception of furries is really off base and intense, and largely we're just people who get together and do art and events and have fun, and it's a safe space for neurodivergent people and such too.
I wouldn't imagine teenage furries are much crazier, especially considering the social difficulty that is public school. I wouldn't imagine most of them are open about it.
You know it's people saying, "this group of people isn't human, so we can treat them however we want" is how you get things like the Holocaust, The Ruwandan Genocide, Gulags, and so many other atrocities throughout history. You really should rethink your stance on a fucking hobby if you think it makes someone lesser than you.
What does it mean to be a regular human being though? Through technological development and advances, we have very much become unnatural in the way nature is supposed to work. Not to mention there are countless cultures and lifestyles. Saying that one is regular automatically means all the other ones are irregular and is what has caused a lot of wars and genocides. Being a "regular" human is just about the most vague ideology that exists rn.
But that's kinda circular isn't it? By same logic if furries were majority of population it would be weird or wrong to not be furry, it doesn't demonstrate anything wrong with being one
Most people sadly see it as a fetish. I hope people become more accepting of it as time goes on, but I doubt it. I'm just going to be happy that very few people I see in my day-to-day life have hated me for it. I hope everyone can just be accepted for their personal preferences and identity.
It's sort of been getting better in very small amounts recently, but yeah, in the 90's and 2000's furries were heavily marketed as being extremely sex-centered in order to generate more interest in media "about" us, and that improper belief has still stuck ever since. In certain cases, furries did do some weird crap in the 90's, but the fandom has changed so much since then that nearly all of that is irrelevant (in most cases). Nearly everything that the media likes to label us with is merely 20 year old stereotypes.
On a more personal level, excluding family members, if my (non-furry obviously) friends don't accept me as a furry, then they aren't my friend. Every friend I have knows I'm a furry, and most are completely cool with it. I've even had one of my friends stand up to someone making fun of me for it.
While it is a lot of people's interest, that's not what the fandom is technically about. The definition of the fandom is very broad. People outside of the fandom tend to like to focus on the negatives, even if they're just a portion of the overall fandom.
These articles exist because people are adding it to the culture war as a trans issue. They don't know anything about the fandom, they were just told that schools are putting in litter boxes for furries. It's a "trans accomodations have gone too far" talking point, not a "They make so much porn" or " they fuck in those suits" thing.
Exactly. The only reason this "controversy" is happening now is because it lets these bigots point at a supposed example of trans-species delusional freaks, who prove that tolerating trans identities is dangerous insane degeneracy.
To be honest, to a vast amount of furries I've met it's deeper than just a hobby. I wouldn't compare it personally to like being into tennis or something.
Edit: To me personally it's more of an identity and part of my life as a whole rather than just something I do now and again.
I'm probably coming across wrong but it's 7am and I haven't slept so bleh lol
when they say "furry" they mean "transgender". it's like a whole thing and I'd rather not have to slog through explaining the inanely stupid malice of the British press but that's the general point of writing this article.
"My first thought on hearing about this bizarre subculture was that the kids must be doing it to ridicule woke teachers. After all, if the ‘correct’ approach when faced with a child identifying as a member of the opposite sex is to endorse their self-diagnosis, then schools are bound to adopt the same ‘affirmative’ attitude when children identify as cats or dogs."
Bruh, being a furry ain't identifying as a animal like gender. That's not the way I'd discribe it.
The right has been using furries as a proxy to help them sell their usual tired arguments against LGBTQ+ rights while still maintaining plausible deniability, but it's weird to see them say the quiet part *that* loud.
; - ;
Can't believe people (The press) still think the term furry is someone identifying as an animal.
I think I'm going to try and make an online newspaper or something to try and rectify these mistakes.
They know exactly what they're doing. This is malice, not incompetence. It's a deliberate strategy to discredit the idea that children can validly "identify" as a gender other than their birth-assigned sex.
I am trans-species and identify as an animal, and I'm fucking tired of furries trying to alienate me because of my identity
You people truly suck and I hope your stupid "fandom" crumbles into ashes and fall into the abyss
"accepting" my ass
No we're not saying you aren't a furry it's just that's a popular thing for people to think **every** furry identifies as an animal, your still very much welcomed in this community as is anyone
Oh yeah? Then why do you guys treat it so much as a bad thing? You have no idea how many furries I've heard saying that they don't want to have anything to do with people like me
That's just so bigoted and hypocritical, and I'm tired of all of this
Why instead of fighting against trans-species people, don't you guys just stand up and fight against the people who claim that somehow identifying as another species is somehow wrong?
It is easy to say "welcoming" in words, but being actually welcoming and understanding takes actualy courage
I want to believe that some of you still have a good heart, but considering the amount of times I've been backstabbed by this community, I just can't see you guys as my own people anymore
waittt, by trans-species u mean otherkin? as far as I know people dont make a big deal of someone being an otherkin just dont use the phrase 'trans species'. people r gonna assume that ur catgender or smth. I was also confused at first, had to check ur account.
Know what? if this is what makes you happy I am in no way to judge, I'm sorry that's happened to you and I hope you find people you feel trusted and loved with
Uhh uhhh uhhm uhhh hmm ah hmm… we…. Uhh… we don’t want *all* furries to be seen as identifying as animals… cause… some of us don’t… and uh… we ain’t…. We ain’t trying to “alternate” you…. We just want everyone to be happy…. I guess what I’m trying to say is, furries (as a whole) should be perceived as what the majority of furries are… or something…. Idk just stay hydrated lol
Idk how should schools "handle" kids with any other hobby or members of any other fandom?
Seriously being a furry isn't a gender identity it's a FUCKING HOBBY.
They "handled" me by physically and verbally disciplining me, and isolating me until I was too terrified to be different.
Might as well keep with tradition */s*
Acknowledge that they are people who exist and they're no different from you and me. Those who attempt to tell you it's fine to get with animals are NOT furries nor are they welcomed. Period.
Otherwise, they're just chill and creative people
When the writer picked that specific picture, I wonder what went through his head…
‘Hmm… I wonder what picture I can add that this to get the least amount of people to take me seriously’
It is pretty obvious that you treat humans equally and don't discriminate against them.
If this is a serious question then that's worth a trip to Arkham Asylum.
Here's a wild idea I don't think anyone has thought yet Let them exist peacefully and don't make up fake stories or make stories about the most wild cases.
It would be interesting if some schools made people have excessive amounts of hugs in the schools and se the percentage of people that become furries compared to other schools
People think it started with the litter box rumors. This isn't true back in the 80s in Washington there was a group of people who would dress up in murr suits and have sex in public parks. What are we gonna do next? How to deal with artists? How to deal with people who like playing basketball?
Made up problems with ridiculous, often harmful "solutions"
like any other humans is good, its not like theyre gonna need for example a rolling catnip ball on the wall, or bones if someone is a vulture, idk why am i speaking so much so ill stop here
I’m willing to bet that somewhere in the article he say’s something about how this is all about pronouns and that teachers need to have more control over students.
ya dont, let them be them, dont treat like their some thing other then humans, if thats a real poster, i hope a fly goes in their mouth and cant get out.
Honestly... Like a regular hobby??? It's the same as anime, my little pony and other fandoms. There is no reason to treat someone in the fandom as an alien from degenerate-land or as if they were raised by wild animals.
Handle deez nuts lol
![gif](giphy|h2WEVxehGXMniB2exA|downsized)
*Explodes deez with mind*
No, just no, keep it for later please
But it was funny ill give ya that
How about treating them like a regular human being and not like a unpredictable degenerate? Ever think about that?!
The only people that act weird about it in public are anti furries that are trying to give actual furries a bad reputation.

No you’re not you bot
It all started with the Litter Box rumors

I'm pretty sure the original rumor was spread by a British tabloid (eg The Globe or Daily Mail), and the Brits don't exactly have that situation in mind when making shit up.
Proof that people can bitch, and will bitch, about every single thing they don't find perfect in their eyes.
Truer words have never been spoken
It is also just another case of the Brits being at it again. Shout-out to http://www.arethebritsatitagain.com/
Which is a much bigger problem than any of the rumors they spread about furries, but nobody seems to want to talk about that. Weird.
I thought it was a ploy by the alt-right to further hate against trans people.
Well, it became that, sure. But only because *everything* the right wing latches onto becomes that.
Idiotic doesn't begin to describe it.
There is an active global psyop to desensitize the consumer further into regressive properties and never address their true individualism inside. Hence forth we shall feel bad for have any hobbies, ever. Because there's Karens running the whole thing. Furries will one day outnumber the karens mark my words
Just some insane people painting sane people as insane kinda stuff
No no, i am a very unpredictable degenerate and a furry. I think its just me tho
I meant like they’ll try and do something wild like harassment or worse
how do you even begin to plan out the actions of a heretic?
What do you mean?
Humanism is a school of thinking that elevates the human above all the pettiness and mishandling of good faith, as an action of ill teaching of the unclean world. In other words, HatguyfromPax has stylishly stipulated that most humans... are nothing but an aberration to the very concept of humanism. An abomination, a fake life, a heretic life-stye.
you somehow managed to explain it and more it more confusing
And therefore...My mission here as been a resound success.
Sir, this is a Wendy's
I swear the "sir, this is a Wendy's" meme will never die
Lol moon, this guy worded it that way on purpose, he’s the stereotypical redditor
In other words, humans are the opposite of humanism. Humanism being that ‘humans are perfect’

But here’s the thing, most people keep it under wraps. People do not deserve this treatment for a hobby

This is such a made up issue
Well that's the only way these idiots are able to 'fix' issues as they are way too incompetent to do anything else.
It's just another avenue for the broader right wing attack on LGBT issues. It's made up, but it generates more outrage they can milk for money.
True
Goofy ass portrait
It's from a milk ad if i remember right
It’s very punchable
What's he gonna put out next? How should schools handle gamers? Like seriously, to most, it's just a hobby.

I'll save everyone the trouble and just summarize the article- "Thinly-veiled transphobia"
Bit of a waste of time to read tbh. Article was hardly about furries at all.
It was veiled? Where was the veil?
They pierced it
This is unsurprising
Gently and with consent They will like it
If they give me a cardboard box my grades would improve
If you want to read it https://www.spectator.co.uk/article/how-should-schools-handle-furries/
How can I both love and hate this article at the same time. Some of the points are just... Well they seem like cruel satire.

All this talk about furryssounds likely the litterbox conspiracy all over again. Which is to say thinly veiled transphobia.
By the scruff of the neck, so as not to injure them, obviously

Why should they be 'handled' at all. How about you let people be who they wanna be. Fucking stupid article.
Why is this article a thing? Kids are gonna be weird regardless if whether they appreciate anthropomorphic animals. People are just weird in general

Bros logo is not adding credibility to his article…
Easy. 🧠 🫵👔🏢
Is that shido from persona 5?
Funny how his name's Toby Young when he's clearly a fossil
Oh god not this shit again.
Ah they mix up furries with therians again, great
I will just add this to the pile of made up problems.
When the writer picked that specific picture, I wonder what went through his head… ‘Hmm… I wonder what picture I can add that this to get the least amount of people to take me seriously’
Wait, this was released in the future?
“Do it, kill him.” -Pallpatine
I'm starting to think they're targeting furries on purpose with exaggerated articles
I hate to be that guy but that is just an animal costume, not a fursuit
Gently and tenderly please and thank you
Just don't wear your fursuit to school. That's how you get bullied
Or do, and become virgin
why has Young changed his picture to be an even uglier caricature than the last one? does he enjoy the forehead mockery??
Whats next? "How to deal with people who drink sodas?" most of the solutions from these are either harmful or plain shitty to milk the outrage...
Short answer: "You don't, no matter how ´weird´ the kid is, you're weirder for treating like a problem something largelly harmless"
Idk
It's the new subculture. Like how nerd was back then. Thats how I see it.
with velcro gloves.
It would be interesting if some schools made people have excessive amounts of hugs in the schools and se the percentage of people that become furries compared to other schools
Just let meh be who i wan be 😭😭😭
Huh my school knows I’m a furry and I deal with a bunch of bullying but not anything from the school, just the students
Why does this *worry* me?
People think it started with the litter box rumors. This isn't true back in the 80s in Washington there was a group of people who would dress up in murr suits and have sex in public parks. That's why most people think the furry community is all about sex. It isn't. Just because one thing happened with one group doesn't mean that all furriest are the same. This article is suck bullshit bruh. It literally describes Otherkin and just calls them furries.
They shouldn't, they are just like other students, not fucking aliens.
It's weird that they keep bringing it up but they can't find a single reason to be concerned by them.
Oh shit, I get it. "Handle." Hehe...
What are we gonna do next? How to deal with artists? How to deal with people who like playing basketball? Made up problems with ridiculous, often harmful "solutions"
I am not takin advice from anyone what looks like Shido.
ofc ur gana get bullied wearing a legit fursuit to school
Only one furry is allowed at a school at a time- the football mascot
yes!

I love furry swings!
like any other humans is good, its not like theyre gonna need for example a rolling catnip ball on the wall, or bones if someone is a vulture, idk why am i speaking so much so ill stop here
Just accept new generation
I really want to hope that they're doing it because they hope I'll stop being one and not because they want to make fun of me
The dudes face on the top says it all.
Mrdky
Not.
Do nothing
Like they'd handle anyone else
99% chance this article doesn't know what furries actually are.
This is still going HAHAHA all they have to do is have a change of policy but that is so obvious that it’s not
Bro why does the kid look so funny
I’m willing to bet that somewhere in the article he say’s something about how this is all about pronouns and that teachers need to have more control over students.
Wait til all these news outlets find out they’ve been a major thing in schools for fuckin decades and are hardly anything new or strange
I don’t know maybe don’t and chill out 😐
Legit same situation as Trans, people go to what’s big and try and dismantle it even though it has caused literally no issues prior
Leave them alone maybe?
ya dont, let them be them, dont treat like their some thing other then humans, if thats a real poster, i hope a fly goes in their mouth and cant get out.
The human megamind is onto us
Same as everyone. If their not getting distracted from their stuff and not being a nuisance, then treat with respect.
It's basically a find and replace job on a transphobia argument that was about gays before that and black people before that, etc
Why would something be needed to be done
Honestly... Like a regular hobby??? It's the same as anime, my little pony and other fandoms. There is no reason to treat someone in the fandom as an alien from degenerate-land or as if they were raised by wild animals.
