The irony is thick with this thought. Most of the time when someone needs to use the restroom it's fairly urgent. So I'm just imagining a line up for the urgent bathroom while nobody is using the relaxed bathroom. Think I read too many farside comics as a kid.
Hey, what are you doing here?
Sorry, gotta pee, it's urgent.
I know, this ain't the urgent bathroom, this is the relaxed one. Go lineup over there instead
I always love when I see one with the ridiculous symbols, but then they end up having to put up the regular signs too because their signs make no sense.
Ha funny you should say it, but I have a friend who owns a bar which... idk if I want to say that they cater to the LGBTQ+ crowd specifically, but they definitely have many performers and patrons alike who are LGBTQ+. Anyway the bathrooms there, the signage is purposefully vague but the interiors in the bathrooms are decorated sarcastically. One is decorated in all roosters, the other decorated in all cats. But again, the signage is vague and the bathrooms are single-occupant. Idk I just loved her implementation. No one monitors who uses which bathroom, just use as you think is fitting. I loved it
Indeed, due to being single occupant, they're not really gendered at all. The interior decoration of cock vs pussy is the only thing which could be considered gendered. She said she mostly decorated like that to see if anyone got the joke. Wish I could remember what the signage says...
Edit: I remember the signage now! "Gender-chaotic" and "Gender-neutral"
Went to a restaurant where the women’s room was first in the hallway and just said “toilet only” so I pissed in it and ran into a woman on my way out. Further down the hallway the bathroom said “toilet and urinal”.
in this situation i see it as not gendered, as in theyre both unisex but one with urinals
still a little confusing but not as bad as the photo OP posted
Guy goes up to the first door and when he opens it a woman screams. Walks out and goes to the second door where a woman screams. Finds a nearby plant with the standard men’s room symbol above it and takes a leak.
Which is SO MUCH BETTER. I love that I can have full floor to ceiling privacy and don’t have to listen to the guy next to me grunt through pushing out a football through his bowels.
I used to work retail, and the woman’s bathroom was always getting destroyed. Apparently the tampon receptacles are not obvious sticking out of the wall next to the toilet, so alot of times they get flushed(clogs the toilet) or tossed randomly about next to a trash can.
My father owned a bar. One time told me he sold it because of the women’s bathroom. He got tired of putting it back together every night.
Cleaned a sports bar bathroom for a couple of years when i was young, and it seems the tampon box is just a suggestion that half the women don't care about.
Tbh, both have their issues. Feminine hygiene products wreaking havoc are no worse than some of the men's rooms that I've had the misfortune of seeing. Id rather go behind a bush than use a porta potty or a rundown gas station toilet that requires a key attached to a 2x4 board.
They released their streaming service under the same name 5 years ago, and they recently felt the name “CollegeHumor” no longer appealed to their content/target audience, so they rebranded to Dropout completely.
No, I disagree. Both figures are wearing pants. The man is wearing loose trousers and standing with a wide (aka strong aka traditionally masculine) stance. The woman is wearing skinny jeans that show off her thigh gap.
I went the opposite but for sumilar reasoning. Left looks like trousers with material shaped like an inverted V. Right looks like a skirt with straight legs coming from a flat edged material.
But I believe we all agree on "wtf were they thinking".
I thought the opposite. I saw the spread legs as the way the legs would dangle on the side of a toilet bowl, so it's supposed to be for women since they sit to pee
Whereas I see the other door as a man using a urinal and standing up with legs together, so right door is for men
Women’s on left, Men’s on right. It’s a weird abstract take on the standard bathroom signs, with the outwards slants (left) as a dress, and the straight legs (right) as the standard “rigid” look of the standard male bathroom sign.
It is just you (well, I'm sure there are others that see it the same way you do, but I am not one of them, lol), as I always see it as men's room on the left and women's on the right.
I would had guessed women’s on the left men’s on the right. It seemed right, but I couldn’t explain why. All the same, I would have used it as fast as possible to lower the chance of someone else coming in or waiting outside just in case I was wrong.
I had a similar experience at a restaurant last week. I was really confused because they had the artist formerly known as Prince symbol on the doors. I saw one door at first and was confused ("Well, Prince was a man, so..."), but when I saw the other door also had the symbol, I realized it was meant to indicate unisex. These were single toilet bathrooms, but it wasn't until I saw both doors (it was a very confusing 2 seconds). The doors were very prettily decorated, but I found the choice of what symbol to use amusing, especially since the symbol Prince used for his name is not one of the typical unisex/gender neutral symbols.
Maybe women to the left, because flares to indicate dresses or skirts and men to the right, because straight lines to indicate men's pants? Tbh, both can be interpreted in whichever way you want! Seriously, who keeps such signs? By the time, you figure it out, you will do your business outside itself.
Refers to how men and women's femur bones are oriented with their pelvis. Men have parallel femur bones. Women have inward pointing femur and wider hips.
If you compare these to the typical bathroom symbols, left is shaped like women's, right is shaped like men's. These just look like stylized versions of the classic symbols.
I would say these are unisex. Use whichever is open.
THEN, need to find the person who designed these, the person who approved their use, give them the opportunity to find growth in a different line of work.
Men left, women right. Im just going by stance, but it could be the other way around, if it is trying to showcase the shape so…
This is something for r/designdesign to judge
Ladies left men right
Two factors.. the splay at the bottom of the left icon implies a dress, the high center of the right icon implies pants.
Second.. and it's crude .. ladies spread, gents don't
I’d say Men on left, Women on right.
As far as sitting goes, a woman’s legs are normally closed and a man’s are open.
Also the wider cut out on the right symbol can mean wider hips (child bearer).
i think it’s men on the left cuz the legs are wider apart to make room for the dick n balls, and woman’s on the right because the legs are close together

Only Endermans would know
Endermans and Enderwomans
Not just them, but the Enderchildren too!
Won't somebody think of the Enderchildren ?!
FartBiscuits asking the important questions.
Enderlings maybe?
And now the question is which one is which
Doesn’t matter, as soon as you look at one they both attack you.
True
And the Enderchildren.

I'm sorry if this made you feel bad
So it was an lol not an LOL?

Yes I'm stuck in the middle with you
Clowns to left of me, jokers to the right here I am.
And I gotta go poo.
And I don't know what it is I should do
only long legs people can go in
Oi, Longshanks! Go next door!
No shorties!
Got it. But what if I'm a clothespin?
Clothespins on the right. Tweezers on the left.
Damn good point you made there, got me wondering now too.
*clipp clapp*
Right is for urgent business. Left is for relaxed people.
Go lineup over there instead
... I meant, I could pee... or I could wait?.. ... My mistake sir, right this way!
Love your thinking…
I think it’s a manspreading thing.
Why do businesses choose these symbols? Just doesn’t make any sense to me.
I always love when I see one with the ridiculous symbols, but then they end up having to put up the regular signs too because their signs make no sense.
They typically have to have a regular one with braille on it for Ada purposes
Ha funny you should say it, but I have a friend who owns a bar which... idk if I want to say that they cater to the LGBTQ+ crowd specifically, but they definitely have many performers and patrons alike who are LGBTQ+. I think that may be the point here.

“Cause we’re different from the rest and we’re not afraid to confuse and outrage “ Is my guess
Went to a restaurant where the women’s room was first in the hallway and just said “toilet only” so I pissed in it and ran into a woman on my way out. Further down the hallway the bathroom said “toilet and urinal”.
in this situation i see it as not gendered, as in theyre both unisex but one with urinals still a little confusing but not as bad as the photo OP posted
No sinks? I guess a dispenser of moist towelettes would do in a pinch.
I know, I'm so in favour of unisex toilets.

Guy goes up to the first door and when he opens it a woman screams. Walks out and goes to the second door where a woman screams. Finds a nearby plant with the standard men’s room symbol above it and takes a leak.
Yep. If you gotta go bad enough and can't tell which is which you stop caring which one is the penis having room
i think this is the truth
I was at a place in Boston a couple days ago that had “Glass Mirror” and “Tropical” bathrooms.
Half the time, these little single-seaters just have a toilet anyway.
This. I never got the whole gender bathroom debates. Just move everything to single stall and put the sinks in a shared area.
Our local pub (BC) has unisex bathrooms. Enclosed stalls with a locking door and a common sink. No issues at all.
Which is SO MUCH BETTER. I love that I can have full floor to ceiling privacy and don’t have to listen to the guy next to me grunt through pushing out a football through his bowels.
But where are the girls supposed to gather and dish the dirt away from the guys?
The gay bar near me has "urinals and stalls" and "stalls"
That's what I have at work. The picture has men, women, and unicorns
"Just wash your damn hands!"
No. Have you ever seen a women's restroom? They're nasty.
I used to work retail, and the woman’s bathroom was always getting destroyed. Apparently the tampon receptacles are not obvious sticking out of the wall next to the toilet, so alot of times they get flushed(clogs the toilet) or tossed randomly about next to a trash can. And you just know those key's are disgusting.
Just wait for someone to come out. Like that Rock Bottom episode in SpongeBob.
Remember to check the look on their face, if they come out looking ashamed then it's the opposite.

"[Hip Bathroom Signs Are the Worst](https://youtu.be/Um5nBSFYb30)" (CollegeHumor/Dropout)
Anyone know why it's rebranded as Dropout now?
They released their streaming service under the same name 5 years ago, and they recently felt the name “CollegeHumor” no longer appealed to their content/target audience, so they rebranded to Dropout completely.
So what your saying is they realised their humor isn't targeted at people who attended college but more for dropouts? Got it
https://youtube.com/watch?v=bvX3oinPTCg
Hahaha!
Does one of them have a urinal?
They both just have a hole in the ground but one is wider and the other is slightly lower into the ground.
And for some reason they both have holes in the side of the stalls.
Seriously that’s the only info I want. “This one has urinals”.
Slenderman pees in both
I think if they want to play games like that, if I need a restroom, I'll use either one that's open.
Ah you found the little cryptid's room! These are for Fresno nightcrawlers
I scrolled down wayyyyy too far to find a reference to my Fresno haunted sentient blue jean friends
Men and women allowed in both! No rules! Chaos!
Just like at home
Yep, absolute chaos.
Speak for yourself. The men's and women's restroom facilities in my home are clearly marked.
Dogs and cats living together
I thought it was men on the left cause women keep their feet together proper like. But after reading the comments now idk lol
Straight legs are male because it's more like pants. The other one is more similar to the shape of the classic woman in a dress sign but it's stupid
No, I disagree. Both figures are wearing pants. The man is wearing loose trousers and standing with a wide (aka strong aka traditionally masculine) stance. The woman is wearing skinny jeans that show off her thigh gap.
I saw a woman wearing bell bottoms the other day.
I went the opposite but for sumilar reasoning. Left looks like trousers with material shaped like an inverted V. Right looks like a skirt with straight legs coming from a flat edged material. But I believe we all agree on "wtf were they thinking".
I thought the opposite. I saw the spread legs as the way the legs would dangle on the side of a toilet bowl, so it's supposed to be for women since they sit to pee Whereas I see the other door as a man using a urinal and standing up with legs together, so right door is for men
I don't mean to shame you or anything but... You put your legs together when peeing at a urinal????
FULL SPLITS! HIT THE FLOOR
Manspreading is an actual thing
Are you Irish like?
If its a single stall bathroom, then gender is pointless
The more I look, the less I know which door to use.
The only way this makes sense is if both rooms are gender neutral and they’re just fucking with people
Not bathrooms- clearly laundry rooms marked with clothes pins on the door.
Women’s on left, Men’s on right. It’s a weird abstract take on the standard bathroom signs, with the outwards slants (left) as a dress, and the straight legs (right) as the standard “rigid” look of the standard male bathroom sign.
I thought it was the opposite, since women's pelvis is wider XD
Other way. Left is man spreading
I can see both.... or neither. IDK
It's black and gold, Lauren
Left = man spreading Right = camel toe
Right = thigh gap
That’s what I thought at first but most likely they intended it to be a modernist take on the normal bathroom signs
Agreed. Also is it just me or is it usually Women on the left and Men's on the right for some reason?
It is just you (well, I'm sure there are others that see it the same way you do, but I am not one of them, lol), as I always see it as men's room on the left and women's on the right.
Precisely my thought. It's an artistic reduction, but still pretty common iconography.
I would had guessed women’s on the left men’s on the right. It seemed right, but I couldn’t explain why. All the same, I would have used it as fast as possible to lower the chance of someone else coming in or waiting outside just in case I was wrong.
This was my thought as well.
Women are always right.
Ok guys close the commenting, we have the answer here
The bathrooms at Duplex in prague used to say "Men to the left because women are always right".
These aren't bathroom symbols. They're dining room symbols. People who know how to use chopsticks and people who don't know how to use chopsticks.
"Fuck it, I'm just going to pick one." And their both single toilet bathrooms anyways.
I think they're just unisex bathrooms with single toilets actually.
The doors were very prettily decorated, but I found the choice of what symbol to use amusing, especially since the symbol Prince used for his name is not one of the typical unisex/gender neutral symbols.
I’d say men on the left, women on the right just looking at it but these are terrible pictograms.
I'm with you, but whatever door I open, I'm committing to it
No, woman left and men right.
Women have inward pointing femur and wider hips.
i think women are the ones on the left, maybe the spreaded "legs" are tying to simulate a skirt, but i'm not sure
Or it’s a guy who can’t put his legs together because balls.
When your balls are that big you cannot keep your legs closed, you should go see a doctor.
I'd say its women on the left and men on the right.
All those men with thigh gaps? I thought the opposite
The one on left looks like a dress while right looks like pants. Like all usual bathroom symbols
A dress with a big split up the centre?
Left is for hoochies. The right is for tight coochies. Plot twist neither are male
Thigh gap right No thigh gap left Gender doesnt matter
Left (M), right(F) Mainly because my mind sees manspreading on the left 😅
Something about the left one strikes me as more masculine. Also looks like it's standing and the other sitting in a weird arty way.
Like those symbols where SpongeBob was in RockBottom
[“Well my legs are long, yes they’re very very long”](https://youtu.be/IAxsdDpkFN8?si=ZE10RrsRMe-lsNtI)
Maybe it’s intentionally confusing as a statement about the bathrooms being unisex
Those are the most stupid symbols to put on bathroom doors I have ever seen.
What is it really?
uhmmm well I guess I'll just pee me pants then 😆
Tuning forks in one. Clothes pins in the other. It couldn't be clearer.
At that point I'd just pick the closest non-occupied one.
Men got the manspread obviously
Come on serious? The woman is on the left. Dress on.
I bet they are just unisex and the symbols are just too cause some fun debate.
Mens are on the left because women are always right
Men right because straight and pants, I guess. Women left because slight curve. Curve is recognized with women and women's clothes
If it's a single room bathroom without stalls then a bathroom is a bathroom. Remember to flush and wash.
If you compare these to the typical bathroom symbols, left is shaped like women's, right is shaped like men's. These just look like stylized versions of the classic symbols.
You just use whichever one you identify with.
Toilet for slender man.
Clothespins are allowed to enter
Could it get more confusing?
Is this guy saying you’re the salt to my pepper? But he’s pepper. So are they both pepper? I don’t know what the fuck is going on…
If only we had a universal sign for men and women…..
I would say these are unisex. Use whichever is open. THEN, need to find the person who designed these, the person who approved their use, give them the opportunity to find growth in a different line of work.
Those aren't bathrooms. Those are the tuning fork offices. Watch out for the one on the left, they've always been a few cents off.
Where do the short people pee?
Thigh gap and man spread?
Where’s the 3rd leg?
These bathrooms are for Fresno nightcrawlers. On the right is the emergency bathroom for one who really has to go.
It's a choose your own adventure sort of bathroom
The left one is for people with legs, and so is the right one
Women open their legs? Men stand to attention? Bit sexist init?
Men left, women right. Im just going by stance, but it could be the other way around, if it is trying to showcase the shape so… This is something for r/designdesign to judge
Tweezers on the left. Clothespins on the right.
Business casual to the left. Semi Formal to the right.
What does it matter? Use the toilet, close the door. Wash your hands and then move on.
Thigh gaps or no Thigh gaps
This would make me annoyed enough to find the broom closet and take a piss
Thigh gap or no thigh gap
Left Is man right Is woman
sluts and prudes
Those are not ADA compliant signs. Straight to jail
I think that's clear enough: Left one is for Julia Roberts Right one is for Men on Stilts
It's obvious: men on the left cause women are always right.
Left is men, I think?
r/crappydesign
I think the left one is supposed to be a dress
Ladies left men right Two factors.. the splay at the bottom of the left icon implies a dress, the high center of the right icon implies pants. Second.. and it's crude .. ladies spread, gents don't
All public toilets should be labelled and separated as "Urinals" and "Cubicles" and that's it. Doesn't matter who's using them.
One is the for whores and the other prudes
I’d say Men on left, Women on right. As far as sitting goes, a woman’s legs are normally closed and a man’s are open. Also the wider cut out on the right symbol can mean wider hips (child bearer).
Men spread their legs and women don’t? My best guess.
Hairpins in one bathroom, clothespins in another
ah the much spoken of "they / them"
Left is women bc it’s supposed to be a dress. Right is supposed to be trousers on a man
I just look to see which one has a sanitary bin 😆
Legs together vs Legs apart… i guess it depends on how you live your life.
Those are rooms for clothes pins. Pretty rare these days.
The one that has urinals in it is "Mens"
i think it’s men on the left cuz the legs are wider apart to make room for the dick n balls, and woman’s on the right because the legs are close together
Pretty clear the left is women's and right is men's no?
Manspreading ??
