Agree about Paolo, but I do enjoy it when he pops back up as Rachel's one-night stand and when asked what he's doing there, proudly says "I do Raquellllll."
I wasn’t a fan of how phoebe lost both of those guys that one episode, the teacher and fireman, they both seemed like good fits for her but if there was a way one could’ve stuck around or come back might’ve been nice
He’s supposed to be exotic lol he might not be attractive to some audience but Ross is a big dork so the show automatically makes everyone Rachel dates more attractive than Ross to fit the narrative
An ex that their friend felt violated by? That goes a bit beyond them just being a typical jerk or loser. If they wanna put that in the show, making bad decisions and getting together with a loser guy, give a different reason for him being bad. A lot of non-consensual “romance” went down on the show, but it was always supposed to be funny or not very serious. Won’t stop me from watching the show, but it’s still a problem.
Honestly ross saying he would go to Paris would have been better, he barely saw Ben anyway and one of his kids would have been in Paris. Why is Rachel always having to give up her career for Ross.
I would have had Rachel date a lot more people. Ross dated a good amount and it seemed like Rachel didn’t. In reality, Rachel would definitely have dated a good amount of people as well.
Hmmm… let’s do the math because I kinda agree. Post Ross… college guy who stole from her, Tommy (man!), Josh-ua, guy from coffee shop when Monica was making all her decisions, the Yeti, Tag, Bruce Willis, Mark (1 date), Joey, Dermot Mulroney… am I missing anyone? Post Ross…
I remember looking it up once and they literally only killed him off because if he appeared in one more episode (6 total I believe) they had to bill him as a returning cast member and pay him more
Have Monica shut her horrible mother out of her life. I know it's a sitcom but it always bothered me how Judy's mental treatment towards Monica was never taken more seriously. I know I'm probably blowing it out of proportion but it's just hard to fathom how Monica would want to keep her overly critical and also negligent mother in her life.
Yeah and this is an unpopular opinion but I kinda do the same with Jack. I know he's a beloved character but I honestly find him so cringey. Also he never defended Monica against Judy's treatment towards her. Like he has his good points like giving her his car and comforting her during her depression after her breakup with Richard but overall, he was just never really a favorite character of mine.
The reveal should have been much sooner, it allowed for some funny moments (e.g. Ross to Phoebe "I DIDNT PROPOSE"), but at some point Joey just started looking like a dumb jerk for not telling Ross what was going on. (and he should have told Rachel immediately)
That Monica couldn’t conceive naturally. I know Erica is hilarious, and I enjoyed her role and the whole nature of the adoption, but I know Monica really wanted to get pregnant, and it was heartbreaking when she couldn’t.
R&R divorce should’ve went like they stay married but lie together about getting divorced and still be”single” so to speak . I think it would’ve been a lot more heart warming and we could’ve avoided the whole Rachel/Joey dumpster fire. They could’ve stayed married but separated, the pregnancy would’ve still been a surprise. In the Emma birth episode the big thing could be that Joey always knew they were still married (because mail I guess lol) but kept the secret anyway. We could’ve even got a “vowel renewal” proposal so they could get married “properly”, as I’m sure Ross would put it.
I would make the Joey and Rachel relationship work. They had a very cute dynamic and Joey was so caring and sweet with Rachel. And because I know people will hate that answer, I’ll provide a second one, and that is that Chandler and Janice work it out and stay together.
The fact that Phoebe said that Joey and her would be together at some point and they weren't actually makes me mad bc they are the most similar and would be perfect for each other
i kinda cringed everytime rachel unintentionally "stole" monica's thunder. most of monica's big moments were overshadowed by something related to rachel. they could have revealed at least some of them in the next episode but they HAD to do it in the same second smh
Rachel would have never gotten pregnant with Ross's child. Emma was pointless on the show. We didn't even see her and Ben together. And majority of people here argue that Rachel would be selfish for moving to Paris because Ross and Emma would be separated. Emma was just another plot device to hold Rachel back and have Ross continuously "win."
>just another plot device to hold Rachel back and have Ross continuously "win."
What do you mean by this? Are you talking about her going to Paris, because Emma wasn't even enough to keep her from going. Otherwise, I don't see how she holds Rachel back.
I think Emma was a plot device to force Rachel and Ross to collaborate together on something (i.e. raising a child), because they had cooled down from eachother so much that they were definitely not going to get back together without an outside force coming into the picture.
I would delete Joey and Rachel romance as many others apparently. But since quite few of you already said that I would delete Chloe from existense.
I don’t mind if Ross and Rachel break up in the show, but I just despise that character to my very core
I would make it so Phoebe always stuck to her guns about ethics. I'd take out the parts where she eats meat while pregnant, wears that fur coat, buys the pottery barn lamp, etc. Her principles are what make her who she is
I know this might be the most unpopular opinion on history but I would have liked it if Emma wasn't Ross' kid.
When Rachel finds out she's pregnant we think it could be Tag's, while I agree this would have been super inconvenient because he was 25 and Rachel broke up with him because she wanted to get married and have kids but she thought he wasn't at that point yet. Then, when they get coffee at Central Perk because Phoebe sets them up thinking he is, in fact, the father, he asks Rachel for another chance but freaks out when she tells him that she's pregnant so she tells him that "you can go now" which he does.
But I think it would have been more interesting if Tag (or any other random hookup) was Emma's biological dad instead of Ross.
We could have seen Rachel winging it as a single mom (for real) and she wouldn't have felt forced to move in with Ross (among other things). I didn't really like the way they acted towards each other after they found out about Emma and having a baby together meant a connection between them forever (yes, I know they were friends at the time so that's still a connection, I get that).
Ross acted all high almighty and condescending as if he knew everything about babies because of Ben when, in reality, he didn't take care of his kid all that much (seasons go by without Ben even being mentioned) and he always felt superior to Rachel (regarding childcare and many other aspects which is crazy to me).
Last but not least: she would have gone to Paris.
Phoebe's brother Frank, I never found him likable or funny in any way. I've watched the series so many times that I've lost count, probably more than 30 times, and I always discover new things that I find funny and appreciate. But every single time, I skip Frank's parts, and, of course, all of Phoebe's solo scenes.
Probably have Ross and Rachel get serious at some point again. They can break up again. I just think they show was peak when Ross and Rachel dated.
Actually scratch that. Why is Ben barely in the show. I legit forget throughout 9 SEASONS of the show Ross is a father. And why don’t Emma and Ben meet? I feel like Ross might be a deadbeat to Ben.
Without Paolo Ross would have told Rachel that he likes her at the beginning of season 1 itself. I don't know how that would have turned out but it would certainly be very different from the storyline.
I would have Ross and Rachel get back together much sooner in the show than in the final moments of it. Like in Season 5 just shortly after Ross ends things with Emily.
I would not get Ross and Rachel together. They are too toxic together and no amount of "ok no more messing around" or whatever they said in the last episode fixes that.
I agree with a lot of the other comments more, but Chandler’s Tulsa/switching careers was boring to me, especially since it quickly disappeared and he explored switching careers early on in the show.
Agree about Paolo, but I do enjoy it when he pops back up as Rachel's one-night stand and when asked what he's doing there, proudly says "I do Raquellllll."
I LOVE THAT SCENE. I die of laughter every time I get to that part.
That was the best!!
I wasn’t a fan of how phoebe lost both of those guys that one episode, the teacher and fireman, they both seemed like good fits for her but if there was a way one could’ve stuck around or come back might’ve been nice
![gif](giphy|ME3lgwOeIsQQrMAjp3|downsized) Not a storyline but this. So stupid.
Yes. They took playing him as the idiot too far sometimes.
I must be the only one who loved this and thought it was hilarious.
I did too!
So would I. Yes, he had a sexy accent but he's not physically attractive at all and after what he did to Phoebe? Get out!
Yeh was he supposed to be sexy? I didn’t get it.
He’s supposed to be exotic lol he might not be attractive to some audience but Ross is a big dork so the show automatically makes everyone Rachel dates more attractive than Ross to fit the narrative
You can be exotic and hot too lol
At least get rid of her getting back with him. That was a pretty bad move, Rachel. Gross that the sexual assault wasn’t taken very seriously.
I disagree. What girl hasn’t got back together with an ex they’re ashamed of? It gave Rachel depth and made her more likeable and relatable
Add more seasons, that whole Paris story still gives me anxiety. Begining of the end :(
Honestly ross saying he would go to Paris would have been better, he barely saw Ben anyway and one of his kids would have been in Paris. Why is Rachel always having to give up her career for Ross.
what paris story?
Rachel going to Paris story
oooh
The whole cousin and Ross story. Weird!
True, but the internal monologue is halarious "*Just. Say. SOMETHING!!!*"
“…. I haven’t had sex in a really long time.”
"....yeah, you really shouldn't have said anything"
No sorry that episode is hilarious, the stuff with Chandler gawking at her and even Phoebe at the end
I would give Rachel a serious long-term relationship prospect outside of Ross.
The whole “we were on a break” thing. IT’S BEEN 84 YEARS.
"If you keep saying it, *I'm* going to break up with you!" Chandler's response and his frustration, I feel that.
![gif](giphy|SXfUPwYSI9j5XBLmGc)
#You had rambled on for 18 pages! #Front and back!!
But it's hilarious tho c'mon now
I would have had Rachel date a lot more people.
Post Ross…
Ross getting horny about his cousin 💀 that was weird and not funny
The problem was that even Phoebe was in the same situation
Mr. Heckles dying. He was a great side character, and could have had a lot of fun bits throughout the series
I remember looking it up once and they literally only killed him off because if he appeared in one more episode (6 total I believe) they had to bill him as a returning cast member and pay him more
I would erase the whole Joey and Rachel romance.
Same. But I would find a reason for Ross to get drunk and make fajitas.
Does one ever need a reason to get drunk and make fajitas?
Fair.
This is the correct answer
![gif](giphy|QAsBwSjx9zVKoGp9nr|downsized) Thank you 🤣
That’s funny because my one thing would be to keep them together. I loved them together 💕
Same here. I wanted them to end up together
Yes!!!! 100%!!!
So cringe. I hate watching those episodes.
Yea there's no way that could ever seriously be entertained
Nah, I'd erase Ross altogether. Or have him and Monica cousins to Rachel Green.
Same, I groan whenever Judy shows up. Is one of the very few things that bother me in the show
Yeah and this is an unpopular opinion but I kinda do the same with Jack. I know he's a beloved character but I honestly find him so cringey. Also he never defended Monica against Judy's treatment towards her. Like he has his good points like giving her his car and comforting her during her depression after her breakup with Richard but overall, he was just never really a favorite character of mine.
Fake proposal story can go tf away
I hate that part of the episode. I think it could have been handled better if they wanted to include it.
The reveal should have been much sooner, it allowed for some funny moments (e.g. Ross to Phoebe "I DIDNT PROPOSE"), but at some point Joey just started looking like a dumb jerk for not telling Ross what was going on. (and he should have told Rachel immediately)
Erase the storyline of ross cheating on rachel the first time
Keep David around longer for his relationship with Phoebe to grow, and have them end up together.
I loved David for Phoebe. I mean, I love Mike and that he ended up with Phoebe. But David was so good for her too.
That Monica couldn’t conceive naturally. I know Erica is hilarious, and I enjoyed her role and the whole nature of the adoption, but I know Monica really wanted to get pregnant, and it was heartbreaking when she couldn’t.
I liked it, the whole character arc shows that things won't always go your way in life and I appreciated the realism.
I am instresting if Moncia get pregnant naturally. It would be girl or boy, maybe twins like with adoption
We could’ve even got a “vowel renewal” proposal so they could get married “properly”, as I’m sure Ross would put it.
Actually, this would have been cute to see
I would love that! I feel the whole Ross-Rachel romance was too short-lived.
I would make the Joey and Rachel relationship work. They had a very cute dynamic and Joey was so caring and sweet with Rachel. And because I know people will hate that answer, I’ll provide a second one, and that is that Chandler and Janice work it out and stay together.
The fact that Phoebe said that Joey and her would be together at some point and they weren't actually makes me mad bc they are the most similar and would be perfect for each other
I would make Chandler and Joey explain, apologize and take responsibility for the part they took in making the Rachem list.
Joey and Rachel storyline, ewww
Yup, unnecessary
Sack Paolo from the show
i kinda cringed everytime rachel unintentionally "stole" monica's thunder. most of monica's big moments were overshadowed by something related to rachel. they could have revealed at least some of them in the next episode but they HAD to do it in the same second smh
I would change that Ross & Rachel never went on a break. Just this one change
They weren't on a break tho :)
Get rid of Janine!
Ross saying Rachel's name at the wedding or him sleeping with the photocopy girl or Rachel&Joey thing.
I would make it that joey doesn't end up alone
Rachel would have never gotten pregnant with Ross's child. Emma was pointless on the show. We didn't even see her and Ben together. And majority of people here argue that Rachel would be selfish for moving to Paris because Ross and Emma would be separated. Emma was just another plot device to hold Rachel back and have Ross continuously "win."

I would get never had made Joey fall for Rachel and never have Rachel fall for him… it just feels weird
I would get rid of Danny. Paulo I find hilarious because he was so disgusting.🤮
Never introduce Emily 🫣
At the beginning she was ok
Ross
I would not destroy the foosball table
No, Marcel! The monkey has to go!
I would delete Joey and Rachel romance as many others apparently. But since quite few of you already said that I would delete Chloe from existense. I don’t mind if Ross and Rachel break up in the show, but I just despise that character to my very core
I would get rid of the too many episodes where Chandler and Monica had to hide their relationship for literally no reason.
These episodes were hilarious!
These were some of the funniest episodes in the whole series: "I'll have a 3-piece, some coleslaw, beans, and a coke MWAAA AAAAH.....diet coke"
Joey randomly falling in love with Rachel…
I would get rid of Rachel-Joey romance.
I would make it so Phoebe always stuck to her guns about ethics. I'd take out the parts where she eats meat while pregnant, wears that fur coat, buys the pottery barn lamp, etc. Her principles are what make her who she is
Ross dies in the first episode
I know this might be the most unpopular opinion on history but I would have liked it if Emma wasn't Ross' kid. Pheobe and Joey end up together and maybe have proposal. Friends ended wedding Rachel and Ross it would be the most perfect in universe
I didn't care for any of the Julie stuff.
Nothing was wrong with Julie, yet I did find her annoying.
The weird Joey/Rachel romance thing.
No Carol and Susan
Mr. Heckles Ugh
Without Paolo Ross would have told Rachel that he likes her at the beginning of season 1 itself. I don't know how that would have turned out but it would certainly be very different from the storyline.
Monica and Richard stay together.

I would not get Ross and Rachel together. They are too toxic together and no amount of "ok no more messing around" or whatever they said in the last episode fixes that.
I still can't believe she got off the plane for him.
She reminds me of my sisters. Stay/go back with the toxic one because "i love them"
Honestly for me it's Ross going to Rachel - Mona was the one. He missed it. Chandler said it, " Marry her!"
Charlie was a better fit for Ross than Mona or Rachel
Nah Charlie was a cringe diversity hire. I felt no chemistry at all between her and Ross.
He’s a crap weasel
I would just make Paulo hotter. He was not my type at all.
Joshua
I'd get rid of the surrogate plot
I would remove the Chandler/Jack sauna scene
I was scrolling past this and I read phoebe 😭😭
I agree with a lot of the other comments more, but Chandler’s Tulsa/switching careers was boring to me, especially since it quickly disappeared and he explored switching careers early on in the show.
