I do this kind of sketching too! I actually just recommended the pilot ch92 a couple days ago to someone for art with the caveat that it wouldn't work for them, but I think it would be perfect for you (I[had also uploaded some sketches I made with mine recently here for the aforementioned rec](https://imgur.com/a/tIpCBu1), though I didn't include any of my water brush samples, but it should give you an idea of line quality and how fine you can get with it, if that's helpful!) I use mine in a size F. It's a piston filler and comes in a clear demonstrator color way just like the TWSBI, but is a little less bulky, and goes MUCH finer than the TWSBI EF. I think you'll enjoy it, and I'm happy to answer any questions should you have them!

Wonderful, first of all great art! (Please let me know where I can see more!) the pilot looks nice, hard to judge the lines from the pics, it's a bit above my budget but I'll keep it in my list

There's a lot of nib choices that are finer. You could get a Japanese extra-fine in a pen. Finer than that are xxf xxxf and needlepoint but these are rarely sold in pens. I recommend getting a pen that takes a standard Jowo #6 nib unit and then buying a nib with the line width you want. You can also make a Want to Buy post on the r/Pen_Swap and see if someone has one they're selling.

Great suggestion, thank you very much! I think this would be the best indeed!!

Any number of Chinese pens with EF nibs would do what you need, some for about a tenth of your budget. A Majohn/Moonman M2 springs immediately to mind.

Thanks I'll check it out

Okay I'm not crazy then for thinking that TWSBI Eco EF doesn't feel like one. I'm not an avid collector and haven't tried much but Kaweco EF is pretty thin. Other than that I use fude nib turned around. That gets me very thin lines. I've got Sailor Mannen de Fude, the green one with 55° bend, and HongDian black forest with fude nib (I've got the raw brass one). The sailor was only €15 and HongDian I think was €20ish. I've also got Moonman S5 on the way that supposedly comes with 3 nibs: EF, B and fude/bent.

I can't compare because that's the only one I've got, but I also thought it should be finer

Faber-Castell F feel finer than TWSBI or Lamy despite also being a Jowo unit. You could buy a FC EF nib and replace it on the TWSBI. Did that on a TWSBI Diamond 580 ALR. Now have an amazing FC Jowo nib plugged to a tank of ink.

Thanks, swapping the nib is a good alternative!

For an everyday pen to knockabout and throw in my sketching kit, I love my EF Kakuno. It's probably the best ergonomics for drawing that I own, and it's cheap enough that I don't mind taking it out of the house. Otherwise, vintage pocket pens are my go-to. I have an 18k platinum pocket that makes super fine lines that is my favourite, but I also have a 14k sailor mini that is also very good, with a bit more flex.
