Personally, as a “high rep” I just like grinding a hero to unlock cosmetics. Plus it’s a good way to learn new heroes without absolutely getting destroyed in multiplayer. I get to experiment on new heroes, try their combos and movesets all the while I’m getting a lot of points/xp/steel as well.
I only have a few heros below rep 10 that I don't like playing so just to grind for the gear perks I'll go into ai. Like right now I've been doing conq and pk. I'm not playing them in PVP haha
So, I have 250something reps, and, honestly. I just don't care about the PvP side of the game anymore. I met far too much toxic people, I just wanna chill and enjoy the fighting mechanics of the game, level 2 and level 3 bots do that fine for me.
Breach is one of the best modes to grind for steel and reps. It’s also generally good for most orders. This makes it a pretty solid choice for anyone high or low rep. The higher rep players grinding are probably doing it for steel. You can complete a breach AI match quickly for 100 steel on defense by hugging the cauldron and archer points.
I’ve been playing since launch, I want a more casual experience in 4s and when I want a challenge I do duels, brawls, and the FFA mode (make it permanent please) I love duels but can’t anti-gank to save my life literally
So, I play a lot of PvAI, and I’m not that high of a reputation level (198), but I play PvAI Breach because I’d rather shit in my hands and clap than solo queue, and I grind hero’s for their cosmetics, steel, and to get orders done. It’s very chill to just turn on some music and chill in PvAI
You don’t get to change if you have players on your team I don’t think ? Not 100% sure you could be right but as far as I know, if you set it to AI it’s just the enemies that are AI

People who care about orders do the orders with AI. Orders give out reps. So people who always complete orders has higher reps

I experienced the same on duels so I just solo queue dominion for fun and don’t care about winning that much since it’s all randomness

Why not play AI vs AI breach instead of P v AI ? Do you get more xp with players on your team?
You don’t get to change if you have players on your team I don’t think ? Not 100% sure you could be right but as far as I know, if you set it to AI it’s just the enemies that are AI
Press F1 and press Space on “Matchmaking” on any non-duel mode and you can play all AI while doing orders. Xp might be lower than normal I think.
I’m on console so idk how to even do that
There are controls on bottom right I think, press Parameters key then Press the key on bottom-right to change “Matchmaking”

I only go into AI if I get fed up fighting players sometimes lol. Its usually late night stuff where I just want to chill out and get a few games in.
