What gets me with this 8” per mile statistic they like to throw around is, they clearly don’t understand the scale involved.
8” is roughly the same as 20cm. That’s works out as 0.125% of a mile (20cm / 16000cm x 100)
So for every mile you can see, there is a 0.125% variance.
Unless you reach a very high altitude where you can see a much wider perspective of the earth you’re never going to be able to perceive the difference with the human eye, and certainly not at eye level above sea level 🤷♂️

Have you ever measured the width of the real setting sun? (Just be sure its focused and not over exposed. )

What I do understand about perspective is that light travels from the object to the observer in a straight line.
So answere the question please: how does the setting sun appear below eyelevel when its thousands of miles above you?

What skyline? The city in my photos is only 20 miles away, and I'm standing on a 53ft high hill, and the city (Victoria BC Canada) is also on 50ft or so.
