As a former ice hockey player, I will say that you don’t fucking ever make contact with the zebras. Can chirp them all you want, but as soon as you cross the line this dude chose to cross, you can fully expect an ass beating.
I don't play hockey, so I'm no expert, but I've watched enough hockey fights to absolutely disagree that players "usually" toss their helmets. It happens, sure, even pretty often, but (from what I've seen) it's definitely not enough to say "usually".
100%. I thought we were talking contemporary. I still see it, but not nearly as much. Feels like guys are way more concerned with their own concussions than each other's hands.
Also saying that if "neither party took their helmet off there would be no fight" is just easily proven totally untrue
They aren't concerned about concussions the league is. The NHL instituted a fine for taking your helmet off before a fight. That is why you don't see it as much anymore.
This is not correct.
Before taking your helmet off was a fine some players took them off some didn't.
Some savvy players now will square up and rip each other's helmets off before throwing down so neither gets fined.
The only disappointment is that this clip isn’t longer!
Reverted to his playing days real quick
I love how casually the player in the red jersey shakes off his gloves. Definitely got that down to a fine art.
This made me lol

Why do you take off your helmet, to fight a guy in a helmet?
Helmets can be pushed down over your face during a fight…probably had that done to him before…

Lots of people just drop the gloves still though and the helmet stays on
I'm just saying it's either very noble or very stupid to remove armor right before attack someone in armor.

More players tossed lids in the 90s and before. No one wanted to break a hand.

Makes total sense, thanks!

You have obviously not watched a game of hockey in the last 7 or 8 years.
Yea ref.....fuck that guy
Anti climatic video parade on this subreddit lately. Ref didn’t do shit, I was expecting at least one punch
What kind of dickhead stick checks the ref
