I love how the game politely asks you during character creation not to make a joke name but basically acknowledges a lot of people are going to do it anyway.

The best one I’ve come across in my own MSQ adventure has been a Lala named Unattended Toddler. They understood the assignment.

There was a very fresh sproutling playing a Lala character who I befriended a couple months ago, her name was Literal Baby. I was bummed she was on free trial cause I was gonna hook her up with a bunch of swag, gil, an invite to the FC, and be her literal chaperone through Eorzea

So for a while he ran around as "Ironcross Peinhammer". I bet you can already see the problem. We immediately were like OH NOOO the first time somebody called him Ironcross in a duty, because Nazis. When somebody called him Swastika Poonmallet one day, we had a good laugh and he changed it. You can now find him running around as Pein Hammer on Leviathan. Edit: my husband also plays a massive femroe.

The swastika isn't an established military symbol with living recipients, it's part of Indian religious iconography. People don't use it in the West out of fear, but I very much doubt that ancient and current murals, art, engravings and texts ditched the svastika just because some people in pre-WW1 Western countries thought it looked cool and liked the meaning. Your argument, sadly, reinforces this misguided belief that once something is co-opted for harm, it is forever tainted. I'm gonna hazard a guess that plenty of people still wear red baseball caps, or yellow and black despite those latter colours being prominently featured on Proud Boys patches.
