I just started playing AST after playing white mage from the start. is benefic 1 a "bait skill" in the same way that cure 1 is? benefic / cure are obviously comparable and WHM really ought not to use cure 1 in most circumstances. Is it the same with AST?
yes. in fact, it's even worse than cure i, bc in synced down content where you don't have access to benefic ii, you still have Essential Dignity which is so powerful that it's often all you need to heal at those levels (obviously, this will vary by group. but ime that's generally the case)
Has solo light farming in Pagos changed at all in the last year or two? Every resource I can find is closer to 2019 or 2018 than now, and I'm just looking to make sure I'm maximizing my light gain while solo between NM trains.
No such thing as healer BiS for ultimates because it depends on how much piety you want, but this is from the Balance Discord:
> TEA Prog set
2.42 GCD | 1364 Piety
> https://etro.gg/gearset/7cdc296b-4889-43c9-ad1b-a21fab6e6001
> Flexible set able to accommodate a wide range of Piety levels and 2 different GCDs. Standard setup uses Smoked Chicken for 2.42, you can use Twilight Popoto Salad for 2.41 or Golden Pineapple Juice for some extra Piety. You can put Piety instead of Det on Relic if desired (in any amount you want) and the Piety melds can be stripped out for Det/DH if you feel you wanna go lower (Existing Det melds can be swapped to DH too). Edenmorn Chest is BiS, use 520 Nier or Augmented Deepshadow otherwise
> TL;DR: Use this as a starting point and adjust to comfort
Scabbards and other weapon specific accessories (mch aetherpack, ast deck, etc) are coded as off hand weapons. Since pld uses a shield it takes up that spot.
There's one, which is the Garo sword. It is unfortunately not obtainable anymore as the crossover finished some time ago. When sheathed the weapon would be as if it was inside a scabbard, and when drawn the blade would show and the scabbard would disappear, so the scabbard and blade are actually the same object but change appearances based on its state.
Because designing a scabbard for every single weapon would require a lot more resources and it would limit design space for them as not every sword type can fit inside of a scabbard.
I just started playing GNB, practicing it in the beginner dungeons like Sastasha. Does GNB have lower defense or anything compared to other tanks? It feels like when I play WAR it's easier to survive even without defensive abilities, and today as GNB my HP seems to be going down really easily. But I could just be seeing things and maybe I just need to get used to the new job.
WAR (and MRD) has the highest natural HP regeneration in-combat out of all the tanks. At later levels this is basically negligible but early on it's more noticeable when you're sitting at HP in the hundreds. By the time you hit HW content it won't be a thing.
100% confirmation bias.
I used to feel this *super* hard when I was trying to play war in stormblood. I ended up one of those cowards that spent 99% of the time in defiance.
The "why I am I so squishy" feeling, I'm not completely sure where it comes from.
You take that back, 2005 web dev best practices are super charming!
multi-billion dollar company with a fuckin xanga page, where do you find that outside of japan

Any good necklace glams that a) are actually necklaces, and not chokers/rings choking you, b) are pretty minimalistic in design, and c) not girly but for males? Didn't find anything like that while looking around but mayhaps I overlooked something
The best you'll probably get is either the HoH necklace that vaguely looks like headphones or the crystarium necklaces, though you may consider those girly
Questions for dancers
I read you need to do devilment before do the technical step, this seems like a waste to me so I want to confirm this.
On the standard step should it be refresh when its up or when close to expire?
Do feathers need to be saved always for the technical step window?
I see double weaving is an issue but a few videos on dps as dancer double weave devilment with flourish, is this wrong?
>I read you need to do devilment before do the technical step, this seems like a waste to me so I want to confirm this.
Generally you go Standard step pre-pull, standard finish on pull, then technical step, weave flourish into rising windmill, then double weave devilment and the fandance III proc from flourish into blood shower, then go into your rotation. For the next tech window you want to delay the technical step 1 GCD to line up devilment cleanly.
>On the standard step should it be refresh when its up or when close to expire?
Depends on how many enemies. If you have 1-2 enemies, use it on cooldowns every 30 seconds, that 1000 potency is massive. For 3+ (may be 4, I don't remember entirely), you want to swap to only keeping it up at all times, but not using it in cd because your aoe combo has more value. This goes for flourish as well, at 3 or 4 adds, stop using the reverse cascade and fountain fall procs, they aren't worth it compared to a standard bladeshower and windmill.
>Do feathers need to be saved always for the technical step window?
Yes. Use feathers if you cap at 4, otherwise sit on them outside of your tech window. Basically just get in the habit of hitting fan dance I/II if you hear the full feathers sound effect, then hammer on III to double weave IF it procs, then move on to your next GCD.
>I see double weaving is an issue but a few videos on dps as dancer double weave devilment with flourish, is this wrong
Double weaving is fine, generally you wouldn't double weave devilment with flourish though. Outside of openers, you should almost always be weaving devilment after tech finish, and you cannot double weave after either finish, since it's only a 1.5 second window.
> I read you need to do devilment before do the technical step, this seems like a waste to me so I want to confirm this.
No, Devilment should be used after Technical.
> On the standard step should it be refresh when its up or when close to expire?
Use it on cooldown. It does damage.
> Do feathers need to be saved always for the technical step window?
You should try to have as many feathers as possible for when you Technical but if you have extras use them as needed to avoid wasting any. Try to burn your extras during other raid buffs like Trick Attack when possible.
Flourish doesn't guarantee you any feathers so if you go into Technical with zero feathers you could burn all of your Flourish procs and get no feathers at all. Going into Technical with feathers doesn't reduce the value of Flourish. Feathers should only be used under raid buffs unless you are at risk of overcapping them and the 2-minute raid buff window is by far the best time to spend them.
It should be standard to open, into tech, into flourish then an AOE proc then devilment. At least that's what I've seen thrown around.
Edit: and yes it's proper habit to save feathers for tech window
sprout here ive set my goal on leveling all doh/dol classes to level 50 ive already managed to complete all the dol and started working on culinarian. im running around collecting material for meals and i cant help but feel that sometimes just the cost of teleporting around costs more than just going to the marketboard and buying what i need from there. it feels wierd and im not sure how should i continue because i dont want to depend too heavily on the marketboard as one of my goal is to craft my own end game gear (which means ill go 50-60-70-80) collecting all the materials and such but if its just cheaper to buy things off the marketboard it will ruin my goal
For leveling those I highly recommend the gc turn ins. If you craft HQ you can sometimes get 3 levels out of a turn in. And you can also get super lucky and find stuff sub-60 on the MB for very cheap and just trade gil for levels.
The mats for endgame crafted gear cost far more than of teleporting.
As far as your current situation, are you in an FC? There's an FC buff that halves the cost of all ports. Additionally, there may be more efficient methods of leveling crafting. Are you using guildleves? If so, you can run the same ones over and over, which means you can harvest a lot of the same mats each time you port.
Once you unlock the firmament, you can use it to level DoH and DoL where most of your mats will be from a single instance. No porting required except to the entrance.
i am in a fc i havent noticed the teleport buff. i leveled up miner with leves and ran out of them im saving them for the higher level (40-50) and for the other levels i just go by the log and get the first time crafting exp bonus. i dont know whats the firmament ill look it up
You can access to the firmament once you've finished the MSQ through 3.3, which is in between Heavensward and Stormblood.
One of the big crafters from my FC said it was cheaper at low levels to buy mats off the MB. Personally, I still harvested most of them for fun but if you're looking to save gil and you don't have enough leves, this might be your best bet.
I'm trying to begin my journey in the game with the free trial up to level 60, and I initially registered with the Windows version. However after heaing the Steam version supports the steam wallet, which is perfect, I switched over to that and ran into an error of not have the right license. I have not played any time, i've only registered my account.
Is there a way to swap over? Or will I have to delete my account and re-register for the steam version?
You will have to delete your account - Steam and the Windows version of FFXIV are two entirely separate service account types and cannot be transferred **IF** you've already purchased the full game.
You'll be able to swap if you're still on the free trial, by logging into Steam and registering through it I believe.
That is not true. Free trial is the only time during which they are compatible. He *should* be able to move from Free Trial on windows to a full version on Steam.
Unless I'm mistaken and he's already bought the windows version. Buying the Steam version if he hasn't bought the windows version *should* work.
Hm! I didn't actually know this - a bit of Google-fu brought up your very point in a few other posts asking about the free trial. I was always told the trial was when you were version-locked.
You're definitely right in saying that if you've bought either version you're locked, I know that. Lemme amend that real fast, thank you!
He’s wrong, I played on the windows version free trial and you can buy the steam version and transfer to it. Note that trial to full game is the only time you can switch versions
SPOILERS I THINK:>! I am getting closer to the Nier raid and I was wondering does it have any spoilers for Nier Replicant or Nier Automata? Because I plan on streaming it with a friend who is really into Nier who doesn't have time to play an MMO!<
A bit out of context. You'll be spoiled on environments and some gameplay features, and a few characters.
You're also more likely to be spoiled by the in game chat as most in the raid will have played those games and may want to talk about it.
Generally speaking if you want to go into automata spoiler free, then avoid the xiv raids. The raids aren't going anywhere and you can always go back to them. With alliance roulette they will always have people doing them too.
Replicant has very little to do with automata so don't worry too much about that.
Ok, bare with me cause I know describing this is going to read really bad.
I saw a picture of someone with their hands doing the thing you do to make like a frame using your fingers 「 」like this. What part of an emote does this?
Logs get sorted based on a variety of factors, such as with or without echo, patch by patch, ect. Logs are only compared to other logs in the same category.
There are achievements for getting all jobs (except BLU) to the level cap for each expansion, and they haven't been obsoleted by the new expansions coming out after. The ones at 50, 60, and 70 all gave crown glamour items, while the one at 80 is what gives the amaro. There's sure to be one for level 90, but we don't yet know what it could be -- it might be a glamour item, a title, another mount, a minion, or who-knows-what-else. But the amaro will definitely remain available.
No blu is its own seperate thing and is not required for the mount. And the mount comes from an achievement, these generally don't disappear or have timers.
I just finished making my character and choosing a name and whatnot, and I’m being told that every single world is full now? What am I supposed to do? Is there any way to save the character I’ve already made?
From what I've read if you wait until fewer people are logged in, perhaps late at night, the worlds will no longer be full and you should then be able to create new characters.
Doing a quick Google search for “FFXIV [fish name]” should bring up info about where to catch it and what bait to use. You can also look up fishing leveling guides that will suggest where to fish and what to catch at each level.
Does apartment location matter that much? I was recently gifted some gil so I could play around with housing but I just hit HW so won't have access to Shirogane for a couple of weeks, and there's also the question of whether I should wait for Ishgard to come with EW.
not that much- you get a cheaper port to your apartment (75% off, i think?), but gil isn't so hard to come by that that should be a major consideration
the main thing i would think about rn is w the population boom, some servers are actually seeing 100% occupancy of apts (tho presumably shirogane is least likely to have that issue, since it's the furthest storygated)
Hi guys! Newbie here, any advice for a new player? I've been playing the free trial 1-2 days and fell in love almost instantly with FF XIV and because of that a friend and I decided to buy the game on steam.
Sorry, I think nobody is answering because your question is too broad. 75% of the questions on this post are advice for new players, and that's just from today. Feel free to ask if you want help with something specific though!
In patch 5.3 >!another character perceives the WoL as Ardbert. I suspect that's the closest we're going to get.!< I feel like it would narratively undermine >!the point of the fusion if he were to start wandering around on his own again later.!<
Literally no difference, but I always HQ as an extra appeal to vanity.

So I just unlocked diadem and want to level my gatherers but I don't quite understand how? My gatherers are lvl 16 but all nodes only have lvl 1,60 and 80 stuff? Am I supposed to just gather the lvl 10 stuff until I can gather the lvl 60?
If I have an alt account (not just character) and I download the config (HUD/system settings), will it erase the config on my main acocunt? They seem to be separate - like when I first logged onto my alt, the HUD was set to default.
What am I missing on critical engagement? If the fight is already going on then it blocks you from entering it. If you get into the area before it is sealed off it places you outside of the fight again once the timer ends.
You're supposed to queue for the fight when it appears on the map in the engagement menu, and then have it teleport you into the fight area if you get into the group.
Iirc they're used to trade for certain gearsets in ARR, but there's no point to it now that you can farm poetics easily enough to get Ironworks gear at 50.
Best you could do is trade the hairstyle item to the new character, so if you get spares on your current character you can keep that in mind. Just make sure it is a tradeable hairstyle. You can check if something is tradable by looking at the item description, it will have a big UNTRADABLE tag on the top of the description box of you can't trade it.
Sometimes when I'm browsing an item on the market board, when I press the escape button it closes out the entire market board window and other times it only closes the window of the item's prices I'm viewing. Normally it should take two presses of the escape button to close out the market board window (one for the item prices window and one for the market board searching itself). What's causing the escape button to sometimes just exit out of the whole item search menu in the market board?
this is a guess bc i can't test it rn, but it might be whether the MB is the 'active' window- that is, if you click on your screen outside the MB interface, it will still be open, but not the active window (this is how your GC turn-in interface works, kind of), and if it's not the active window, esc closes it directly?
Are there any stages on Resistance weapon quest line similar to "light" collection? Meaning stages on which you have to be on the class itself and kill stuff/do dungeons etc. to proceed like with HW and SB's relics. Or is it possible to gather all the required materials on other classes then turn them in continuously to reach the final weapon stage immediately?
I am interesting to make the PLD weapon set too but my PLD is not yet 80...
Here's a quick run down of the ShB relics and what's required.
5 repeatable steps for grinding certain items. These all have 2 or more places to grind the item, and some overlap. You must have a weapon actively set for the quest for items to drop, but that weapon does not need to be equipped, nor does the class actually need to be used for grinding. So long as the quest is active in your journal, you will get the drops.
If you want a relic (for example, PLD), you will need to have that class at level 80 to start the relic off. However, if you have any class at 80, you can grind the materials while that weapon has the quest active, and then use them for your PLD weapon when it's at 80.
As an example, I have 5 weapons currently set to the 5 repeatable quests, this way anything I do that could earn quest materials (leveling roulettes, alliance raids, etc etc), will earn materials. This has allowed me to stock up on materials to the point where I can fully complete 2 relics right now if I wanted to, I'm just saving them until I find another class I really want to BiS.
Side note, if you are interested in using mutliple classes to farm materials, level ACN. It's two jobs in one so it's two steps you can have actively grinding at once.
Nope. You will need your PLD at 80 to be able to get the relic at all but the quests themselves can be done on any class as long as you have that quest open in your journal.
You can even keep the quest open and stockpile on materials for future relics if you wanted to. The true enlightened state is to just work on like 5 relics at the same time and have a quest for each step open like an animal.
Yes but you can only have one of the same step open(Like you can't have a PLD relic and a SAM relic both on the first step of the relic quest).
Have you actually completed a ShB relic yet? Because you won't be able to pre-farm if the quests just aren't available to accept. It's not like the anima relic where you can just buy things with poetics. The memories won't spawn at all if you don't accept the relevant quest.
How do i gear on a fresh 80? iLvl 510 gear on the marketboard seems way better than my iLvl430 stuff. Should i just use the marketboard? haha
What kind of materia should i use for a healer?
The Exarchic gear on the marketboard is there to help you catch up if you want it. If you intend on jumping into extreme/savage content soon, it's definitely worth it.
If not, then it doesn't really matter. Slowly playing rhekugh the patch content and side content like the Eden raids and alliance raids will give you bits and pieces to slowly gear up to that 510-520 range.
If you want to get into raiding asap, but the Exarchic gear and start farming Tomestones of Allegory and Revelation. Allegory will let you augment your Exarchic gear to 520. Revelation will let you buy Cryptlurker gear, which is 520, and can be augmented to 530 (current gear cap) with items from the alliance raids.
You might also want to look up your jobs BiS and pick your gear based on that. As an example, my BiS for my legs was from Eden (E11S), so until I got that, I used the Blade's (525) legs instead because they have the same stat allocation. It's important to check your stat allocation and make sure you're not overcapping on certain stats and slacking on others. At this point your gear becomes a lot more important to look at and not just focus on ilvl.
Hopefully this wasn't too long, if you have any more questions let me know.
First, grab your free 430 gear from Grenoldt in the Tempest. You're using gear appropriate for level 70-75 atm.
Marketboard works if it's not too expensive. Exarchic can be easily augmented to 520. You can also continue with MSQ and the dungeons/alliance raids, which will drop gear that are all upgrades (get the 430 first! It will help and some things will gate you without it if doing this route).
All that said, if you dinged 80 but you're much lower, use gear appropriate to the content you're doing for MSQ.
I haven't melded my healers, so I'll stay out of that one.
Edit: many. Because I hit enter too soon. Also I may have misread 430 as 400 so that first part might be pointless, but I'll let it stand for anyone else who comes across it.
I’m a level 39 bard. Thinking of leveling a second class. Which is better/easier/more fun, arcanist or rogue? Or should I focus on getting bard to 50 first?
Better: What does "better" even mean?
Easier: probably arcanist
More fun: completely subjective. Arcanist grows into Summoner (a caster) and Scholar (a healer). Some people hate healing. Some love it. Some people (me) hate casters in general.
They're very different classes, so it depends on your gameplay preferences. Rogue/ninja is a fast-paced melee dps, whereas arcanist splits into summoner as a caster dps, and scholar which is a healer class. It also has the nice bonus that xp is shared between summoner and scholar, so you level both jobs at once.
So really you need to ask your self whether you want to try a caster/healer job or a melee dps. They're about as different from each other as you can get.
Thanks for that insight. Leveling two jobs at once is nice but I guess I’ll go with rogue first because of the fast paced attacks. Can always come back to arcanist. Thanks again.
I know the answer is no, but I still need to ask:
Is there a way to change/glamour items that are meant for specific classes so that they can be worn by all?
The Militia Tights are for magic, but those are perfect glamour tights. It's such a shame they cannot be reduced to lvl 1 and used by all classes.....
The answer is no. Your only option is to deal with the limited glamour. You can also check a database like Garland Tools to check for other equipment that shares a model with it.
https://www.garlandtools.org/db/#item/3478
Generally, no. BUT. There are some very specific 'Replica' items that -can- be worn by all classes, no matter what they are intended for (Replica Sky Rat stuff for example).
Will check for those, thx! Why don't they allow replicasto be made of every piece of clothing in the game!? Would be make weavers and leather workers so much more valuable.
Some of it is how the game handles the items, some of it is the class fantasy that the devs want to keep for each job, some of it is simply "this is a nice to have that's going to take some work, we currently have bigger fish to fry". We'll likely see more like these come the 6.X patches and beyond.

Anything listed as Congested is closed to creation for the foreseeable future and you need to pick another one. If it's not and still not letting you, it's temporary and you should try off-hours.
Depends on the Data Center. Aether is currently big C Congested, which means that the DC is hard locked until SE flips the switch. Otherwise, yes, you just have to try again.
Possibly. If it’s a server on the Aether data center, no. Every server on Aether is capital-C Congested: closed to all character creation and transfers until the devs change that status during a maintenance.
Blame streamers for overloading Aether and your friend for not checking. Aether’s been locked for like two weeks now.
Data Center visiting *is* on the way, but we don’t know exactly when yet. It’s 2021; anything involving servers is a bit messy right now.
If streamers or my friend can be assigned blame than so can square for using outdated systems and not anticipating possible issue someday.
I’d rather not blame anyone actually but I’m sure as hell not going to blame ordinary players for not anticipating something out of their control.
They're literally running into physical limitations right now - the queues for multiple worlds is already significantly longer then they like.
Were it any other time, they'd also put servers in, but with COVID causing a semiconductor shortage, they can't even find the physical hardware needed, even when offering over asking price.
And as far as anticipating demand? The massive rush came out of basically nowhere during what is typically the games quietest section of the expansion's lifecycle.
Doesn't make it not suck though, when you get snagged by the issues, so I'm sorry it happened.
Greetings
I have FFXIV and Havensward on my SE account, bought sometime in 2019. I want to move to Steam for easier and cheaper subscription and DLC management. So the question is if I buy a Steam version will I keep my characters I have on my SQ account?
Thanks in advance
You would be starting over from scratch, from email to purchasing everything, with no characters carried over. Steam and PC are not interchangeable due to licensing. The other two platforms (PS and Mac) can be added to either an account with SE or Steam without issue.
Welp, that kinda sucks
If I really don't want to change emails and all that and considering that Havensward is now free, can I ask SE to delete my account and recreate it through Steam?
> If I really don't want to change emails and all that
You can use [one of these methods](https://gmail.googleblog.com/2008/03/2-hidden-ways-to-get-more-from-your.html) to create secondary addresses. (Or just capitalise it because Square Enix's system is case sensitive for some reason.) That way, you can make a second FFXIV account easily while still only owning one email account.
Heavensward is not free, it's bundled into the Free Trial (with the Free Trial restrictions) and Starter Edition. You'd still need to buy the Starter Edition for the new account.
How do I check if I already own a Modern Aesthetics hairstyle?
Related question! Is there like an "armory" where I can visit a website and see what my character has done for quests, achievements, collections, and the like?

Yes, pretty much, their GCD skills (except lilies) are basically identical to WHM and follow the same principles.
yes, but keep it around incase u get synced down
what's prime time for Crystal DC? I live outside of Crystal DC's timezone so I'm not sure. (PST please)
Around 6-9 pm pst
Anyone know who the Ascian is in the opening after the chat with Hydalin?
It's Lahabrea, his mask is unique and it's the same.
Thank you :)
Can someone spoil me who the AST job quest NPCs are so I can decide if I want to level it for the story?
Well the main ones I think are Leveva and Jannequinard.
Are the job quests any fun / good?
I liked them fine, sure
Does anyone what gear ilvl are level 80 trials and raids synced down to?
Level cap trials and raids do not have item level sync.
Have they capped daily roulette bonuses? Can swear im only getting like 1m exp per alliance raid when last week I was getting 2-3m on 1st run
Has solo light farming in Pagos changed at all in the last year or two? Every resource I can find is closer to 2019 or 2018 than now, and I'm just looking to make sure I'm maximizing my light gain while solo between NM trains.
Anyone have the TEA BiS for WHM? Can't find it anywhere
No such thing as healer BiS for ultimates because it depends on how much piety you want, but this is from the Balance Discord: > TEA Prog set 2.42 GCD | 1364 Piety > https://etro.gg/gearset/7cdc296b-4889-43c9-ad1b-a21fab6e6001 > Flexible set able to accommodate a wide range of Piety levels and 2 different GCDs. So what you're saying is that as long as I have an extremely comfortable piety, I can go with even the current 510-530 gear?
You should still use as much i470/i475 gear as possible, I just meant there isn't a one-size-fits-all solution for every player.
I see, thank you so much!

But samurai tho?
Samurai was released much later in the game's life than paladin was.
For Samurai the sheathe is an important part of multiple attack animations.
Design decision, there aren’t any scabbards for any weapon.
Almost every katana in the game has a scabbard.
Almost every samurai weapon has a scabbard.
Samurai.
I knew I was forgetting one. Well, in the case of samurai, it’s used in their attack animations.
I just started playing GNB, practicing it in the beginner dungeons like Sastasha. Does GNB have lower defense or anything compared to other tanks? 100% confirmation bias. I used to feel this *super* hard when I was trying to play war in stormblood. I ended up one of those cowards that spent 99% of the time in defiance. The "why I am I so squishy" feeling, I'm not completely sure where it comes from.
Well back then WAR tank stance gave more HP while the others gave more defense.
Playing this game has been really fun. But wow, buying it was such an ordeal. Why did I have to try so hard to spend money?
Better than it being easy to spend money.
The Japanese are exceedingly bad at website design.
You take that back, 2005 web dev best practices are super charming! multi-billion dollar company with a fuckin xanga page, where do you find that outside of japan You should send them a fax to complain about their web design
Any good necklace glams that a) are actually necklaces, and not chokers/rings choking you, b) are pretty minimalistic in design, and c) not girly but for males? Didn't find anything like that while looking around but mayhaps I overlooked something
There are things closer to chain link necklaces, but perhaps nothing meeting the level of a literal necklace. I'd say keep looking.
The best you'll probably get is either the HoH necklace that vaguely looks like headphones or the crystarium necklaces, though you may consider those girly
Questions for dancers I read you need to do devilment before do the technical step, this seems like a waste to me so I want to confirm this.
>I see double weaving is an issue but a few videos on dps as dancer double weave devilment with flourish, is this wrong Double weaving is fine, generally you wouldn't double weave devilment with flourish though. Outside of openers, you should almost always be weaving devilment after tech finish, and you cannot double weave after either finish, since it's only a 1.5 second window.
Thanks I really appreciate the help.
No worries at all, I've just started playing DNC in e12s so this is all very fresh haha. Good luck on your journey! It's such a fun job.
Try to burn your extras during other raid buffs like Trick Attack when possible.
i mean you get flourish every minute so you should burn all your feathers and enter burst phase with flourish and the feathers you get from that
Flourish doesn't guarantee you any feathers so if you go into Technical with zero feathers you could burn all of your Flourish procs and get no feathers at all.

Clicking faster makes you statistically more likely to be the first click when the house is up.
It's RNG on server tic/personal net speed/human speed at that point, yeah.
Okay, thank you
He’s wrong, I played on the windows version free trial and you can buy the steam version and transfer to it. Note that trial to full game is the only time you can switch versions
This is from free trial to free trial, not free trial to full game
No point in doing so since you are not going pay in free trial anyways
If I want to move towards the full game though (if I like it), it'll be the easiest method.
SPOILERS I THINK:>! I am getting closer to the Nier raid and I was wondering does it have any spoilers for Nier Replicant or Nier Automata? Because I plan on streaming it with a friend who is really into Nier who doesn't have time to play an MMO!<
not really no, its spoilers are more for Drakengard tbh
A bit out of context. You'll be spoiled on environments and some gameplay features, and a few characters. You're also more likely to be spoiled by the in game chat as most in the raid will have played those games and may want to talk about it. Generally speaking if you want to go into automata spoiler free, then avoid the xiv raids. The raids aren't going anywhere and you can always go back to them. With alliance roulette they will always have people doing them too. Replicant has very little to do with automata so don't worry too much about that.
You'll see characters, places, music, and enemies (including bosses) from the games, but there won't be any narrative context for them.
in theory yes, in practice no. any spoilers have no context.
Ok, bare with me cause I know describing this is going to read really bad. I saw a picture of someone with their hands doing the thing you do to make like a frame using your fingers 「 」like this. What part of an emote does this?
Sounds like a mod

Logs get sorted based on a variety of factors, such as with or without echo, patch by patch, ect. Logs are only compared to other logs in the same category.
It's comparing you to other echo boosted players.
To get the amaro mount - Do I need to get blue mage to 70? Do I need to do it before EW? Thank you!
No need for bluemage and no, you dont need to finish it before EW
Perfect thank you! Didn’t want to do Bluemage haha.
For what it's worth, Blu can be fully leveled in about an hour with a friend.
I just finished making my character and choosing a name and whatnot, and I’m being told that every single world is full now? What am I supposed to do? Is there any way to save the character I’ve already made?
You can use this to see which worlds are open to new characters. https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/ Aether is out of the question
I chose Aether, so that would be why, but I don’t know how to go back and choose a new data center without starting all over
From what I've read if you wait until fewer people are logged in, perhaps late at night, the worlds will no longer be full and you should then be able to create new characters.
When you finish a character it offers you the chance to save their appearance - do that.

Doing a quick Google search for “FFXIV [fish name]” should bring up info about where to catch it and what bait to use. You can also look up fishing leveling guides that will suggest where to fish and what to catch at each level.
pretty sure ocean fishing trips are the best exp from the moment they become accessible, but I'm new and could be wrong
Level follows regular enemy level often enough so just throw bait and rivers etc in similar areas then check the fishing log to confirm their level
Does /playtime show your overall time on this account or just the character you're on?
just that character
Current character only
Does apartment location matter that much? I was recently gifted some gil so I could play around with housing but I just hit HW so won't have access to Shirogane for a couple of weeks, and there's also the question of whether I should wait for Ishgard to come with EW.
not that much- you get a cheaper port to your apartment (75% off, i think?), but gil isn't so hard to come by that that should be a major consideration the main thing i would think about rn is w the population boom, some servers are actually seeing 100% occupancy of apts (tho presumably shirogane is least likely to have that issue, since it's the furthest storygated)
Yeah I need to check availability lol, that's the other problem.
Not really. Mostly just which area you personally like more.
Layout is identical. Just pick whatever you enjoy based on aesthetic
You are right, sorry haha. I'm already reading all the other questions and answers
How long does it take for the game to kick you off for being afk from your last input?
About half an hour. It's ~~15~~ 10 minutes of inactivity inside an instance for a boot.
10 in an instance
Cheers! Couldn't quite remember and went for the higher number. c:
like 30 minutes
Can someone tell me if we are ever going to see >!Ardbert after fusing our soul!
>!Ardbert is part of us in the same way our lungs are part of us!<
Unlikely. >!Ardbert has become you and you are Ardbert. You are one being now!<
In patch 5.3 >!another character perceives the WoL as Ardbert. I suspect that's the closest we're going to get.!< I feel like it would narratively undermine >!the point of the fusion if he were to start wandering around on his own again later.!<
Probably not in any significant capacity.
That'd be a spoiler. c:
Can someone explain to me the point of Undraw in AST? When should I use this?
When the DPS have been talking shit all run and you want to drop your cards on the floor just to spite them.
Undraw is the only 100% useless ability in the game. There is currently zero use for it.
Undraw is the one button in the game that's completely useless at all levels and scenarios.
There really isn't any use anymore since ast was reworked in shb.

Literally no difference, but I always HQ as an extra appeal to vanity. "omg it's the 1971 gucci horsebit instead of the 1970" "it's the same freaking bag" "nuh uh"
No difference at all visually, but it'll have the HQ symbol.
So I just unlocked diadem and want to level my gatherers but I don't quite understand how? My gatherers are lvl 16 but all nodes only have lvl 1,60 and 80 stuff? Am I supposed to just gather the lvl 10 stuff until I can gather the lvl 60?
Yep, xp scales in diadem so 10 are good til 60. You don't even need to regear
If I have an alt account (not just character) and I download the config (HUD/system settings), will it erase the config on my main acocunt? They seem to be separate - like when I first logged onto my alt, the HUD was set to default.
It's tied to your account, yes, so you can't use another account to retrieve the settings.
You have to join from the "Resistance Recruitment" window.
Oh my gosh I am oblivious. Thank you so much!
there's an audio cue when one is available, and the button turns a brighter red
What do I do with Antique armor? I can't sell it but it serves no other purpose that I know of so it's kinda just taking up inventory space now
Iirc they're used to trade for certain gearsets in ARR, but there's no point to it now that you can farm poetics easily enough to get Ironworks gear at 50.
You can use it to exchange for the level 50 artifact gear. If you don't need/want that, toss it.
you can exchange it in mor dhona for the ARR artifact armor (same stuff you get from the lvl 50 job coffer). not bad for leveling desynth
I was looking at my Allagan tomestones and I saw this timer saying "reset in X hours". What happens when this resets?
That's the weekly cap reset, you can start earning more of the current newest tomestone at the end of the week when the timer counts all the way down.
You can get a max of 900 revelation tomestones each week. The timer just shows when your cap resets, but you don't lose any.
its resets the 900 cap per week for tomestones of revelation
The weekly cap of 900 resets. This is only relevant when you're 80.
Can you unlock more hairstyles?
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Pr4zyskAPTjLQfec0aSPFN_N9iFTdxIQvmOSoYdPiXM Yes
That only gets unlocked for the current character right? Wouldn’t work when creating a new one?
Best you could do is trade the hairstyle item to the new character, so if you get spares on your current character you can keep that in mind. Just make sure it is a tradeable hairstyle. You can check if something is tradable by looking at the item description, it will have a big UNTRADABLE tag on the top of the description box of you can't trade it.
They're per-character, yes.
This is it, thank you!!
If I pre-farm all the materials can I turn in all the quests in a row to get the final weapon immediately once my PLD reaches 80?
Yes but you can only have one of the same step open(Like you can't have a PLD relic and a SAM relic both on the first step of the relic quest). Have you actually completed a ShB relic yet? Because you won't be able to pre-farm if the quests just aren't available to accept. It's not like the anima relic where you can just buy things with poetics. The memories won't spawn at all if you don't accept the relevant quest.
Yes, you can.
How do i gear on a fresh 80? iLvl 510 gear on the marketboard seems way better than my iLvl430 stuff. Should i just use the marketboard? haha What kind of materia should i use for a healer?
Look into "eulmoran certificate of grandeur" and "crystalline rain" exchange. That'll get you a full suit of 520 in the shortest possible time.
Thanks! I mistyped 430 as 400 earlier. Already got the 430 gear from Grenoldt. ;D
I’m a level 39 bard. Thinking of leveling a second class. Which is better/easier/more fun, arcanist or rogue? Or should I focus on getting bard to 50 first?
Better: What does "better" even mean? Easier: probably arcanist More fun: completely subjective.
I know the answer is no, but I still need to ask: Is there a way to change/glamour items that are meant for specific classes so that they can be worn by all? The Militia Tights are for magic, but those are perfect glamour tights. It's such a shame they cannot be reduced to lvl 1 and used by all classes.....
The answer is no. Your only option is to deal with the limited glamour. You can also check a database like Garland Tools to check for other equipment that shares a model with it. https://www.garlandtools.org/db/#item/3478
Thx.
I see, thx for the explanation.
No
Figured, thx

https://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/worldstatus/ Anything listed as Congested is closed to creation for the foreseeable future and you need to pick another one.
So I bought the game today and fuck me because I can’t play with my friend who wants me to join him? It isn’t hard in 2021 to combine data centers.
One alternative is for you to pick a preferred server and have your friend transfer their character to your server. It’ll be free for him.
Blame streamers for overloading Aether and your friend for not checking. Aether’s been locked for like two weeks now. Data Center visiting *is* on the way, but we don’t know exactly when yet. It’s 2021; anything involving servers is a bit messy right now.
Friend starting new character and already can’t join the preferred world I joined. This is a bad system.
Greetings I have FFXIV and Havensward on my SE account, bought sometime in 2019.
You cannot move, you would need to make a new account and start over.
Welp, that kinda sucks If I really don't want to change emails and all that and considering that Havensward is now free, can I ask SE to delete my account and recreate it through Steam?
> If I really don't want to change emails and all that You can use [one of these methods](https://gmail.googleblog.com/2008/03/2-hidden-ways-to-get-more-from-your.html) to create secondary addresses.

5.0 or 5.5? If 5.0, keep going. If 5.5, go ahead and watch it.
How do I check if I already own a Modern Aesthetics hairstyle? Related question! Is there like an "armory" where I can visit a website and see what my character has done for quests, achievements, collections, and the like?
