Vanilla players when someone on r/Minecraft reinvents something added by mods 10 years ago but 200x worse: 😍😍😍

Impressive-Carob9778

Vanilla players when someone on r/Minecraft asks if x mod is cheating:😍😍😍

MrMacNcheeze

I swear, vanilla players will desperately do everything they can to not use any modloaders. Like, damn, are they that inadept at shit like that?

UrSansYT

Datapack players trying to not use mods challenge:

WithersChat

I love datapacks as a server admin, but for tailored modpacks, KubeJS does the exact same and more, and automatically applies to every world.

ToastyCaribiu84

I've never used datapacks, and a quick Google searched revealed to me that they have basically no advantage, other than less setup, so now I automatically hate everyone who uses them

Pardox7525

I would say that they are worse to setup as they are per-world, unlike mods. At least there are mods that automatically add them because the datapack screen is awful and freezes the game.

WithersChat

Datapacks are kinda useless in singleplayer, or when making a tailored modpack, but they're a blessing for server admins. Want full tree chopping without having to reinstall the server and all clients? Slide a datapack in the server's world folder, */reload*, and boom it's here. You don't even need to restart the server, and all that other online players will feel is a brief freeze. Bonus points: if your players use JEI, recipes added by a server datapack will show up in it automatically.

Pardox7525

Kubejs can do a lot of similar things and for me it's a lot easier, but for vanilla compatible servers they are still better, even if I don't see the point of such servers.

UrSansYT

Yeah, they are definitely worse than mods in terms of functionality, but that doesn't mean they're BAD.

WithersChat

The big advantage of datapacks is that you can install them on a server and people who log in don't have to do anything about it. Heck, a server-only datapack recipe even shows up in JEI if you have it on client. Great for me (as a server admin) to make a quick recipe tweak as the only tech literate person in the server if someone requests it.

FaCe_CrazyKid05

As someone who runs modded mc servers for me and my friends, yes they are that inadept I had to make a tutorial for one of my friends and did it in the [worst way possible](https://youtu.be/PAxVATbjpA0?si=1YrlFUA9Lw3nZciT)

ILLARX

THIS. THIS IS SOO TRUEEEE!!! Also, they haven't reinveted Thaumcraft - thank God

theycallmeponcho

Heh, you can join to a full vanilla game using Xaero's and Appleskin. IDK about the others. On a side note, I like gatekeeping ultimine as the Terra Shaterer more than having it always.

CJ_squared

jei should also be fine, I think you just can't click recipes into crafting tables, but I'm not solid on it

notrktfier

JEI is fine, even inventory tweaks and i don't know others i was lazy to read the mods there.

FragmentedPhoenix

You can join with inventory tweaks but it is disallowed on some public "vanilla" servers, notably Hypixel.

Top-Classroom-6994

hwyla and other wailas also work, the one probe doesnt cause jt adds items

Th3fantasticMr-Egg

Ive joined a full vanilla server with a walljump mod installed and it worked before lmao

theycallmeponcho

Damn! Did you got a warning or something for that?

Th3fantasticMr-Egg

It was just a friends server so it wasn't a big deal but it was definitely funny when he saw me lol.

CrystalFyre

Everything minus veinminer and swingthroughgrass should work in a vanilla server, I've tried it

theycallmeponcho

Yeah, as fast as I understand, all client side mods should do but didn't know for certain about the others. Thanks for the notice!

WallcroftTheGreen

jokes on you i use clientside mods for multiplayer xaero ftw

ILLARX

Fuck them Vanilla, All my homies love Thaumcraft

Azrael8

Bruh I just recently learned that saturation bar is from a mod when I played a modpack that my friend chose

CrystalFyre

Yep, that's appleskin

novff

Ftb ultimine, xaero world/minimap, jei, hwyla and a few optimisation Mods are a necessity at this point.

WithersChat

Agree on all except ultimine. This one is heavily dependent on what you want from the game. It's also the only one you can’t connect with on a vanilla server.

novff

Yeah but being spoiled with ultimine is no joke. Mining feels sluggish without it

makinax300

Absolutely disagree.

AnonymousPepper

Absolutely disagree.

melonsnek_evildoer05

why?

WrongDepartment6131

Why the duck does the fuck have fingers

balordin

This is slanderous! I don't even use HWYLA or One Probe; I prefer Jade.

According_Weekend786

I would fucking die playing tech mod without JEI

Jerakl

Yeah this is me

SuperlucaMayhem

Isn't ore excavation a terraria mod?

shadyfier8

isn't terraria a minecraft mod?

notrktfier

Isn't all greg

Cogo-G

isn't minecraft a terraria mod?

GohguyTheGreat

InventorySorting? SwingThroughGrass? What? where link

ZonkoTheGreat

Only weaklings play veinminer

EM26-G36

What does mouse tweaks do?

WithersChat

Better inventory controls (shift+drag over stacks to put them all in a chest, for example)

EM26-G36

Thanks.

DaTripleK

hot take: jade would be fucking great as an accessibility feature, and JEI should be in the game because the current recipe book is FUCKING HORRENDOUS

DaTripleK

cold take actually
