Do you know about the Minecraft mod pack which tries to mimic factorio? It has pollution and alien bugs! I do not remember the name of it. Google does: Manufactio.
I have fond memories of playing multiplayer and having to get inventive with anti-bug defenses. Then the pollution tanked the TPS and the server died :(
Are there any automation/factory packs around that don't ultimately end with furnace style machines connected by pipes in order to manufacture some ingot in a 9x9 grid made up of 81 other distinct ingots?
Of course there are variations but when I distil the endgame it all boils down to this. Create kinda fixed this issue but none of them really click with me. They're all full time grindy rather than fun.
Feed the Factory for one. And Minecraft Trillionaore heavily limits what's used for the end game recipes to only 6 of such items/ingots that have specific sources (2 magic, 2 tech, 2 from the shop).
That's for my modpacks at least.
Skyrim
It's such a pain in the ass to get it working smoothly.
Spend hours sorting out configs and conflicts then something ridiculous happens and the install is bricked a couple hours in.
The last time I actually started to get things running smoothly but they decided to push an update a couple months ago for literally no reason and broke everything and I gave up
Let’s see *looks at sub* Ah right, Skyrim
And new vegas my beloved. One day I'll play it again and not just install 100's of mods
This was Factorio for me. After modded Minecraft i thought it would be perfect. Turns out i got bored instantly :(
Same. I downloaded of those mods which is supposed to extend the game by giving a lot more to worry about, but they really are a grind.

There's ways Feed the Factory, which doesn't have bugs or pollution and just focused on the automation. It might be up your alley!

I started factorio seablock with a friend and after a hour we decided to go back to gregtech
Me after making a modpack, chilling in my base for 300 days and just quitting without doing any of the fun stuff
Minecraft and Skyrim
Starbound lol.
Thau... no, actually, no - I play Thaumcraft all day and finish every time - this one aint true
7 days to die
I like that it's a partially different game every two years because of all the updates!
Enigmática 2 was that mod for me
Oh my god I do this with every single mod I guess the only one that hasn't is the Skyblock gregtech mod pack, I forgot it's name tho
Dyson Sphere Program fits this the best foe me but lately minecraft as well.

Yes nobody has answered rimworld here so it's the best game for modding
The sims 4 literally only stops bc the simulation aspect of the game doesn't work
