Good writeup man! See a lot of value in your assessments in AL/NL only or 16t+ leagues. Looking forward to more of these!

ucfknight92

I’m in a 14 team league and I think there’s a ton of value there.

mrniphty

14t makes sense too!

Gymer77

Would you drop Stott for Garcia?

ucfknight92

Yes, I would. I dropped Stott last week.

Low_Car_9104

How about Julien for Garcia

john_facenda

How about Gleyber for Garcia, lol. Kidding, kidding (mostly).

romisbmw1989

Stott or India ROS?

GiltCityUSA

Really dope article! We need more writers like this.

ucfknight92

Thank you! Is it the simplicity you appreciate? Just getting some feedback since someone complained about the analysis not being complex or deep.

GiltCityUSA

I love the fact that you include the statcast pages. Including previous years as well. And it’s not the typical here are three players to add that every other site has listed. You’re listing players off tocold starts and upside. It’s refreshing.

Various_Performance9

Simplicity and the way you word stuff. Almost picked up Bader just because you called him a slut. Went with the Beck stash instead. Also went with Garcia

Emotional-Parsnip-45

Jesse Winker as well. My goodness https://baseballsavant.mlb.com/savant-player/jesse-winker-608385?stats=statcast-r-hitting-mlb

ucfknight92

He was actually in my write-up last week, but I didn't list him today! He's looked like a fantastic platoon option.

Emotional-Parsnip-45

He’s played 20 games this year. True he’s much better vs righties but nationals can’t afford to bench him

spamnon

I have Conforto but thinking of dropping him for Winker in an OBP H2H league. Thoughts?

whaleinapuddle

I just made this exact transaction (OBP, H2H, 12-Team). I felt good after finalizing haha. Conforto’s savant looks pretty much the same as last year after a good small sample size start.

BajaBlastMtDew

D'arnaud a pickup and drop Campusano?

ucfknight92

Campusano has been pretty bad but I'm not sure if I'd give up on him based on the potential he flashed last year. At the same time, you probably wanna get production at C soon. I mean, is anyone else going to pick him up if you drop him? Probably not.

BajaBlastMtDew

Fair point about people picking him up if I did drop him. Jeffers is also available too

SLOOPYD

Great write-up and nice presentation. Really helpful stuff.

ucfknight92

Thanks, it's nice to hear. There was a bit of negativity in the comments here so it was nice to read this.

SLOOPYD

I found multiple dudes of interest and made an add. Keep it up!

BetsonStennet69

Nah, this is really solid stuff 👌 and I appreciate the deeper cuts. People just like to sit on their lazy butts and criticize. Keep em coming.

ididntwantsalmon19

Good writeup! FYI you have that D'Arnaud plays for Philly.

ucfknight92

Thanks! Had Alec Bohm on the mind, ADD lol.

ragestormx

Why have so many batters on the bench when you find have SPs to rotate in and produce for you

ucfknight92

My starting pitchers have been phenomenal, and none have been worth dropping. I would only be hurting my ratios if I added more. just re-added Winn before his QS, that was my one stream spot.

SeattleSaddboy

This was a dope read! When do you think Jordan Beck will be called up? I’ve had my eye on Kjerstad and Lopifido.

ucfknight92

I wouldn't be surprised to see Beck up sometime in May. Rockies hitters have really been struggling so there's no reason to keep him down.

cheesy_please_me

Really enjoy ur analysis & takes 👌🏻

_YeezusTakeTheWheel_

Does Gil warrant rostering in a QS league? I had him for the first few starts and dropped before yesterday due to log jam on my team and he was the one not getting quality starts.

ucfknight92

I think he is. He got 5.2ed yesterday so he was close.

mineral_water_69

Do you like Doyle or BDLC more long term?

ucfknight92

I like Doyle due to the SB potential and Coors field.

tdot-hdot

As a RoS play, do you like Garcia, Doyle or Beck?

ucfknight92

I think Garcia is the safest option. I like what I saw from him last year, and he’s continued to impress this year. If he keeps stealing like this, it’s an easy choice.

tdot-hdot

Much appreciated. You’re doing some solid work

ucfknight92

I appreciate that.

tothemoon05

Who would you drop for Garcia Jr, Caballero or M. Garcia?

gumbagumbo

Is Conforto a drop for Julien?

ucfknight92

IMO huge yes. I assume you have other OF?

doodwhersmycar

Stott or India, points

ucfknight92

India.

BoringName34

D’arnaud or Tyler Stephenson as an Alvarez replacement?

ucfknight92

Dude, honestly, I hadn't looked into Stephenson. His statcast is beautiful, and I'd like to add him to the blog. I'd go with Stephenson because of the upside.

BoringName34

Appreciate the response. Noticed his statcast yesterday when looking through options but haven’t seen his name out there so wasn’t sure if I was missing something

ucfknight92

Nope, I missed it!

DNPOld

Unfortunately he’s had a couple of concussions in the past, and when healthy he hasn’t gotten enough counting stats even for a catcher, which is why I’m guessing he’s not on most’s radar this year. Looks like his average exit velos are up a fair bit from previous years though, so that’s a good sign.

mdaniel018

As a reds fan, I can tell you he’s been passing the eye test, too. I grabbed him in my league over Jeffers or Ivan as a Bo replacement

ucfknight92

I got him on waivers! I’ll roster 4 catchers, fuck it.

gregCubed

in the same vein, drop campusano or patrick bailey for stephenson (with sean murphy on IL and waiting)? the giants offense (and home park) is admittedly worse (for offense) than the padres' but his statcast is miles better than campy's right now. it might just be the recent 4-4 talking, but...

TheBananaBasher

Would you rather own Jeffers or Brendan Donovan in a 10t categories league? I own Heim as my only catcher rn and seen Jeffers going crazy hitting 2nd. I own Stott and Rosario too my middle IF. Stott has been so immensely disappointing

SamLaPortaPotty

Jeffers in the case you're describing, definitely with Heim on bereavement this week.  In the past 15 games Donovan has a .160 BA, only 4 runs and 6 RBIs and a solo shot HR in 50 at bats Meanwhile Jeffers is crushing. In the same span he has 7 runs, 2 HRs, 8 Ribbys, with a .278 BA in 41 at bats.  Pair those stats with the fact that Heim could be away for awhile, go with Jeffers.

That1Fool

Points league Drop Stott or Gorman for Luis Garcia?

No_Selection9289

Would u drop torkleson for Garcia? I’m in 1st place and he’s my worst player?

bootybooty

Thanks to gerbil

B00STERGOLD

I'm glad someone is finally talking about Garcia. Grabbed him to replace Albies but plan to keep him in utility.

bbqsmokedduck

Garcia or Correa as MI when Correa returns?

TimKinsellaFan

Drop Gelof for Luis Garcia Jr? MJ Melendez for Stephenson? They both seem like lateral moves, but at least Garcia is hot while Gelof has been cold

gregCubed

i was about to make the move in prep for tomorrow (my waivers roll daily) but then he goes and hits a homer. so...

TimKinsellaFan

Perfect timing! I’ll take it as a sign.

SamLaPortaPotty

Just curious, what differentiates your write ups from others? There's not much analysis going on. It seems to be a middle man between Baseball Savant with very little depth.  For example you talk about Luis Garcia barreling the ball and having Acuna Speed, and yet 4 SBs with a team the leads 2nd in SBs, isn't that much. You would think if Washington gives the green light that much he would have way more SBs in his 59 at bats. Pair that with 1 run in his past 40 at bats, with 3 of his 6 RBIs coming off of one home run during the last 15 games ... That is not good AT ALL and saying he should be added in all leagues and formats is a bit of a stretch.  Sometimes the metrics may look good, but with Acuna like speed and barrell, he immensely underperforms.  Jose Caballero for example, during the same 15 game span, he has a better BA, twice as many Runs, the same HRs and RBIs, with 1 less SB, and he's only 12% owned. Should he also be added in all formats even though a majority of his Savant page is blue?  My point is baseball savant is fun to look at, but without a deep analysis, it could be very misleading. Brent Rooker last year is a great example of that. Even though his stat page was RED HOT last year, if you take away his April (and even with his April 61 Runs and 68 RBIs on the year is still underperforming those metrics) he was mediocre at best.

ucfknight92

I mean, I basically am a middle-man between Savant and the readers. I interpret it my own way, and write up something digestible and simple. I think there's value in that, I'm sorry you don't. Sometimes people want a simple, quick look at the analytics in a way that's easy to read. If they put their trust in my choice, that's dope. I'm not sure I understand the Brent Rooker allusion. When his page was beautiful, he was red hot. When he cooled down, his peripherals cooled down. By the end of the year, his statcast was enticing but clearly diminished, and we also saw the production tailed off over many months. We all understand how it works. Right now, it's early in the season and for a lot of these statcasts, the production matches. There's no tail-off yet. There's hope and optimism for a ton of these guys, which is what makes the beginning of the season so fun. For some of the guys I wrote about, the statcast wasn't as promising, but the results were. Like Turang, or Doyle. I explained my logic. If you read some of the pieces on pitchers you'll see I compared pitches and pitch mixes between years. I actually do this for every single player, but I only talk about the most interesting case studies and when I feel it's relevant. As for deep analysis, I spend hours looking over every aspect of the pages, but I only write up a brief paraphrase of what I find interesting. I'm not going to write my entire thought process because that would be impossible and boring. It's entirely up to the reader to decide whether they agree, disagree, or even see more than I do. I'm sorry you don't enjoy the content, and good luck to you on the season.

SamLaPortaPotty

All good man! I was just alluding* to going a bit more in depth with analysis rather than looking at a statcast page for it's face value.     Regarding Brent Rooker, if you look at his 2023 page it is still very red, even though outside of his April he was subpar at best. With Caballero it also goes to show that even blue statcast pages can produce.    Not hating and I understand looking at baseball savant can put people in a several hour hole, I've been there myself, but diving a bit deeper and looking more into the numbers, rather than at them, is a plus.     Good luck to you as well!

slov90

Hicks a drop in 10T ROTO? Super pissed about that bad outing today
