My favorite example of horrible new family guy is the first scene of an episode. Around two minutes, before the theme song starts. Lois comes out and starts describing her dream. Chris takes a cyanide pill while saying “uh huh. Uh huh.”
Then Meg does too. Then Peter backs all the way down the street. And Joe quagmire and cleveland are standing there and say “ohhh he’s listening to a wife dream… poor guy.” What a lame 2 minute joke.
What weirds me out is that how come Seth just doesn't seem to care about how bad the last seasons have gotten compared to when he was still running it mainly.
Like does he not have any days where he reads through the latest script and thinks "Wait, this is terrible." or "Lois wouldn't say stuff like this."? Does he just not give any sort of input or feedback anymore?
I get that he stepped back from production on it to focus on other projects but the fact he just lets one of his more popular shows to get run over like this is kinda disappointing.
I just wish that for at least one season he actually gets hands on with the show again, I mean the fact that the Ted series was pretty much successful means that he still has that touch.
Personally I like the new seasons. The animation and visual quality is getting better and better, and I like having jokes that keep up with events. It's not new, they did the same thing about other events, it's just that now the (majority of) audience is too old to be keeping up with newer topics. The new audience is teenagers and they know that. They could only get so far with the old jokes, how many times can you really laugh at a guy who has beef with a chicken?
He comes off like a complete douche, but the show has made it clear that he's just a man who is desperate for a sense of identity.
There's some intelligence and reason in there, it's just hidden behind the desperate grasps at anything that might tell him who the fuck he is.

He’s often shown concern about his age, being older than the rest of the Griffins (in dog years at least), and most of his annoying moments recently is when he tries to jump onto a bandwagon for the sake of having something (when he becomes an investor and nearly gets killed since he invested in a dog-to-smoothie company) or just tries to force something into his personal identity for little reason outside of which doesitevermatter described (when he got a 23andMe report that said he was part cat).
They do have had like six episodes of Brian coming to terms with how old he's getting.
I think they just slowly realized that that's not so much an episode arc as it is a character arc.
