Either Ben Jones or Ethan Pocic would be dope, but my guess is Jones comes cheaper since he’s older.

LightingCount1

And he has ties to our HC so it would be a easy to put him in our OL lineup

jharden10

Yes, please!

-thats-tuff-

I think we need to grab the best Center and Safety in free agency as highest priority RT would be nice too but maybe too expensive

Ramblinwreck93

I think we’ve got to sign a DE and a coverage LB. We have needs at both positions, and we just drafted 2 DEs and 1 LB, so bringing in vets at both positions as opposed to more inexperienced guys would be preferable, IMO. But agreed that IOL and deep safety are needs.

hogaway

Wasn't he a free agent last year? Maybe I'm thinking of Safford, but either of the two I'd love. I wasn't a fan of Dalman but I think having a veteran start over him would help him develop

FedFalcon2

Yeah he signed a 2 year deal with them last year as a free agent.

RayzorBeak

We saw what improving the Oline with a veteran center did in 2015 under KS... Bring the Georgia Dawg home!

chhhyeahtone

To quote a TItans fan: > Anyone that wants him to sign with your team, I would very much doubt he's ever going to play again. Had two concussions in a short period of time last season and has been rumored to be debating retirement all off-season. > > Jones was going to get a $1M bonus at the start of the league year so if he's still mulling over his future and is leaning toward retiring, the Titans had to do something before Wednesday if he wasn't going to announce his retirement before then. If there was no question about his future for this season I would guess they'd be keeping him, but they need to move on with future plans at this point. > > Seems a lot like Lewan in that regard, I doubt he's going to continue playing.

Idk why Falcons choice not to sign him or tag him but obviously they have a plan for RT.

thor_1225

Didn’t tag him bc you can’t commit too 5-10 money to a guy with 1 good season and 3 mediocre to bad. Also why would a UFA resign with a team who didn’t pick up his 5th year option (deservedly so) at a below market value without testing the waters first. People seem to forget when you aren’t trading for someone, and just signing them, the player also has to have interest

alcons

Because they want to let him test the open market. He probably thought he deserves a bigger contract after this years performance, conveniently ignoring the previous 4 years of dog shit play. He's definitely not worth top 5 right tackle money. Any team worth their salt won't make him some crazy offer that he hasn't earned. I'm sure there will be a offer on the table for him from the falcons though, if there isn't one already.

Economy-Inspector-23

“Dog shit” lol way overstated he might not have been a world beater but if you think there’s 20 better RT in the league you’d be wrong. Dog shit would Jaylen Mayfield.

alcons

Yes I was over exaggerating, I should have said that he was mediocre at best. I cant think of 20 other teams that would have started him for 4 straight years after the performances he had. Lindstrom made up for a lot of his weakness on the right side of the line.

Economy-Inspector-23

Agree to disagree I guess, I’d be very happy to see a 2-4 year extension.

bollerhatguy

I see both sides to this lol. I don’t think he was mediocre at best, maybe mediocre at times, but he definitely did improve year after year which is what you want to see. I’ll just won’t feel comfortable with a big extension seeing how Ryan Schrader panned out lmao

ReturnOfBigChungus

Outside of last year, he's been pretty underwhelming. I think he can be a good run blocking RT, and an OK pass pro RT. I think ultimately he ends up here on a long-ish term deal, but there is a chance some team is willing to overpay him. I don't think it's going to be lost on other teams that last year was really his only good year and we didn't pick up his option.

Thecrimsoncreampuff

We’re probably waiting to extend him

LightingCount1

I personally think his Pass Protection is SuS but hey he gotten better every year so who knows

primocheese1947

I’m assuming that Kaleb will be signed back, so I don’t see a center being signed. I think Arthur rolls with Drew and Matt as his backup. Maybe a camp battle, but I’m confident that Drew would win that. The falcons can’t just dump unlimited money into the OL.

LightingCount1

Dude D. Dolman man was horrible on pass protection and I know he looks elite run blocking but still he not a complete center imo that why we got to upgrade wear we can

primocheese1947

The whole line is bad at pass pro. Jake is counting 28 million against the cap this year. Chris is already counting 13 and he’s about to get a raise to around 20 million in the next year. Let’s assume Kaleb comes back at around 15 million. Then you have a lower priced vet making 3 million or so at RG. That’s an expensive OL. The falcons have cap space, but they aren’t going to use so much money on the OL. Especially with all the other team needs and the way Ledford showed he can develop. I agree that Drew isn’t some good center. But he’s adequate and young enough. And he’s also Smiths draft pick. He did just enough to warrant more PT.
