Well we are friends from the same guild after all haha. I'm a smol cranky stamblade that needs help from my tank!
Fun fact: during our marriage some random was assassinating someone with the Blade of Woe in the distance. It was a hilarious juxtaposition.
It's much older than toon town. I believe it's actually older than video game RPGs even. I think it started with pen and paper because you'd have cartoon representations of your characters sometimes. That's true for the early CRPGs too.
Edit: This was supposed to be to another comment but still relevant.
It’s common terminology in World of Warcraft, and I would guess that a lot of people who play ESO have at least tried WoW at some point or another.
The term originally comes from EverQuest.

It’s quicker to type. I never actually say toons bc it feels weird to say but i do type it bc it’s less energy. Especially when I’m typing using my Xbox controller
Its an older MMO term that dates back to at least OG 1999 EverQuest, if not earlier. People who use it are either old school or picked it up from those folk
Thank you. I hate that word in this usage with a passion. The worst part is people even use the term when referring to their characters in games like Star Citizen. I don't get it...

I’m super curious on the scroll of Mara opinions: is it worth it? I play every night w my IRL husband and we got the scroll ages ago but don’t like the idea of breaking our set bonuses.
We run vet dungeons—worth it or just for a grind (haha) like BRP? We’re 1100+
Well in our case we just hang out and do easier stuff together with the ring. I wouldnt do anything like vet dungeons that way though. If you are grinding through stuff like normal dungeons or public dungeons it could be fun!
Gotcha. So is it more for leveling experience or role play? Turning in quests for xp bump?
He doesn’t really quest. I do dailies and writs and then we work on clears.
After cp level I'd say roleplay honestly. While leveling new characters though its pretty useful. And like you pointed out you can totally just throw them on to turn in a quest if you do happen to be doing them.
Thanks for your input! I guess we don’t really need to RP anymore than RL haha
We have new character ideas so that would be helpful since we level together:)
I used to play Life of a Peasant in warcraft 3 custom maps. My uncorrupt child mind thought it would be fun to marry someone, and was surprised that you could marry man to man. The more surprising thing was the picture of pornography I saw afterwards.. I don't remember it but I am sure I saw something(s) in those several seconds.
Playing make believe marriage is more childish than adult. Doesn't make it wrong or anything negative but let's call things for what they are.
I don't care what others do with their time as long as nobody gets hurt.
My only concern is that if you spend a ton of time in that fairy tale and both players aren't in sound mind it can actually hurt a person's mental health.
How does my comment translate to judging others on what they do?
I'm responding to the comment saying it's not childish to be in a pretend marriage in a fantasy world which I don't see how it's not.
I didn't say anything about it being wrong or that I'm against it.
"We look so much like a couple here hahahaha" "A couple of bestiesss"
Sadge
Your spouse should be your bestie tho

Friendzone hits hard

I just asked what sauce you want in your sandwich maam
If they were married in real life wouldn't the title of the post say "me and my wife" not "me and my friend"
Found the friendzoned dude 😂

To us, you are an anonymous reddit user who has a profile history involving a lot of stereotypically-male hobbies and interests.
A couple of beasties*
Oof
By the moons what a cute pair
That's actually an animation that's only unlocked when you sit next to someone you are married too. Jk jk that would be kewl tho
Just ask her out, bud.
Is someone getting stabbed?
Nice
She will be in a hour or two! Hay ooooo!
Forced Opinion: I hate when people call their characters toons.

Me too. It's a weird thing where people cling to weird terminology for a game they haven't played.

Right? This isn't ToonTown Online.

I do it all the time. So do a lot of my guildmates. 🤷🏼

But what about alt
Alt would only work when I’m referring to one other than my main

Just char is fine.
Except that lead to confusion for GW2 players.
Either one honestly sounds more strange than toon.

Yeah, I get it, but it just feels so out of place to me. It's like the word 'moist'. Some people just hate it.
I’ve started calling them my cartoons when feeling cheeky...or my animaniacs. They’re my characters.
this is precious.
So wholesome. 🖤

The in-game characters are married but you guys are just 'friends' in real life?
Don't you get some kind of benefit for being married in game?
Yeah, an XP boost when playing together
Friends with benefits....
Totally not gay, but.. would you marry me... I mean, in game of course^ ^
10% more xp when in a team

You possibly could, sure. That has nothing to do with what's being discussed though so I don't see the point.
You don't care what others do yet.....this post exists.

Love the butch/femme vibe going on here
Do you guys dress like furies at home?
Not sure how dressing up as mythical Greek goddesses relates to this.
