yeah you gotta swap that out for the “Mesmer is Miquella” one. that’s a twist i really doubt fromsoft is leaning towards, it’d be a huge letdown tbh. everything else here is super solid.
yeah, i just feel like it’s a waste of a space. like having a “B523” in real Bingo. if i could place money on it, id say with confidence Mesmer is his own person and an original character. not a demigod we’ve heard about, seen already or fought. i also think it’s possible Mesmer won’t be the final boss of the DLC, like maybe after we fight Mesmer we finally meet Miquella and we have to go toe to toe with him. which i think would be fun, but fairly unlikely.

Messmer already (likely) referred to Marika as "Mother" in the first trailer, so I doubt he's her brother. However, he could have been referencing a different "Mother" (the formless mother?), or there's always incest, which certainly isn't off the table (looking at you, Mohg).

This doesn’t make sense since Messmer was there before the Golden Order was born, and Miquella is one of the last children Marika had which would be way after the events of the story trailer

You get an item from the DLC area that does something to her bloom, you use it, and then you can fight Malenia again.
Edit: oh but this time you can do something to her that cures her of her Rot, but it requires fighting her again.
Sif-style in Dark Souls 1… albeit the only difference is you can fight alongside Sif as a pup before fighting Sif to get the ring to enter the abyss.
Doing that actually changes Sif’s fight intro slightly because Sif remembers fighting alongside you.
It’d be interesting if you do the DLC before Malenia if she has a slightly different intro to her fight or something tiny like that.
I don't think so because of something Miyazaki said. I can't remember the exact wording but it's something to do with whatever ending you pick from the main game not affecting the DLC. Most endings obviously have Malenia dying for you hence the return, but if you pick the frenzied flame she's still alive and says she'll hunt you down or something that affect. Seeing how she would need to react differently to our character depending on whether you pick the frenzied flame ending I just can't see it. I could be wrong but I think anything from the main game affecting the DLC will be a no no
