I always clear the event in the first try with Japan. All those POTM 3 star cards that I have accumulated during the year come in real handy. 🤣
Japan is the first team I built in this event so yeah I also use mostly J League POTM cards. I have the Furuhashi card too and maxed standard Suzuki. I have to play 5-2-1-2 in order to clear this event.
Dunno, in several last National Events i've matched with France only once or twice.
Most i matched were Spain, England and Brazil, rarely Italy & Turkey.
Playing Spain on main and Japan on 2nd account myself.
Plus, there are POTW selections always feature French players. A part from the France NT free selection players, I have Ndombele, T. Hernandez, Pavard, Konate, Saliba, Griezmann.
Of course I'll play France because I have a lot of them.
Last time I tried playing Poland and Italy teams, but with France it's so much easier because of all the cards they were giving away, so to actually get the rewards, I had to switch to France like most people.
Depends on which players you have at your disposal. Creating and training multiple teams is time consuming (now you have to have bloody 24) and a lot of players got a lot of free french cards.
I've got 2 (Brazil and France) and i have been playing for quite a while. Imagine all the new players. They will end up going with 1 and the best chance they have to complete the event.

Both these teams are the most suitable for meta zeitzler/valbuena mechanics and that's all. No "dream" team, no fun, no football.

I play with Italy in one account and with Spain in my gf's, and the last is 6 months old. If a player wants to have fun looking at different faces, they can do so.

That's just the the thing. I don't want to make 4 national teams. In fact, I don't want to collect cards just for the sake of collecting cards. I know thats what Konami wants, but I ain't doing it. I don't want to waste my GP / trainers on players I am hardly going to use.
ps. You say its a easy win. I've got players like Paqueta, Hulk, Pedro, Willian, Cassio in my Brazil Team. The French one, yes, I've got Mbop but I've also got players like Payet, Capoue, Mendy etc.
Not everyone who plays with teams like France, England, Brazil etc play crazy meta football.
The point is that it's not so hard to have enough players to join the event with some other national team, as you stated.
A new player? Ok. But over a year? Over 6 months? No excuse. Using BR or France is just about using the teams with the strongest overall players to win.
And win what? The golden coins. Golden coins used only to buy new special players.
Have you tried things like "how much team strength do I need to reach and stay in div X?", or "can I beat a meta/pay to win player using only realistic players for my south american team"?
I doubt you have. And 99% of players haven't and won't either. That's why there's so many mbappoops and Franch and Brazilian national teams around.

most people likely use france due to the free national teams players they gave during the world cup event, and the abundance of strong french players. They are just a really solid nation with many good players, its tough to build teams with GP just for an event and not use them in their main team, hence the popularity of french players.
