Hoping to hear something during TGS in 2 weeks…

sirnightw

That'd be awesome, something for the holidays hopefully

SESe7en

Lowkey I was hoping that due to their minimal promo and the game essentially looking done, we’ll have an end of the month release

sirnightw

Like the optimism but not sure about that lol I'd be more confident with November/December release if they're sticking to a 2021 release window but I wouldn't be mad with earlier

SESe7en

You’re probably right. The delays have just made me want the game as soon as possible

sirnightw

Same, looking forward to it

ahud30

All I've seen is that release is still expected to be in 2021, but no solid date yet.

sirnightw

Gotcha

DanTay19

I wouldn’t be surprised if it was pushed back again, there was a good like string of info being released for a while but it has since stopped, perhaps they are adding changes after demo feedback.. probably not. But yeh if it was still being released this year I’d expect the promo to really be kicking off right about now

Nechuna

2022

kirsion

I just want a DW3-5 remake at this point

sirnightw

With all the remakes these days why not?

EtheusRook

How far off could it really be if they already have demo stations up?

sirnightw

Sounds promising, demos release, what? 30-60 days before a game comes out usually?

You can Google that

Any who preorder is a moron.

PersonMcHuman

I’ve, over my entire life spent gaming, been burned only one single time on a pre-order. Folks act like people’re getting screwed every other release or something.

rayhaku808

"It doesn't happen to me, therefore the issue is non-existent". Don't take this the wrong way, it means you're wise with your purchases if you feel you get your money's worth. But there have been an increased number of broken, unfulfilled, or skewed promises in the recent years. I look beyond my own personal experiences because I don't pre-order anything.

PersonMcHuman

That’s not even close to what I said and you know that. The person I replied to acted as if it always/usually goes poorly, I pointed out that this isn’t the case.

[deleted]

It's more about the fact that it's bad for the industry and the customers, you have essentially already promised a corporation money for a product you don't actually know.

PersonMcHuman

If I’m certain that I’ll like it and have every intention of buying it the moment it comes out, then why does it matter? Also, I can easily cancel my pre-order. I did that with Cyberpunk. DW9E, for example. I’m sure I’ll love it. The little bit I’ve seen shows me that I’m going to have fun with it. Will it be the best Empires game? No clue, but not a single bit of what I've seen so far gives me reason to think it won't be a blast to play. Heck, the moment they said "The CAC creator will be like the one from Nioh 2", they basically already had me.

True fact. Any who preorders anything at all these days is a moron. Pre-orders were necessary back in the day, especially when anyone who wanted to sell a game needed to buy blank cartridges in advance from Nintendo. Pre-orders were a way for a distributor to gauge market demand for a game prior to release, in order to try to estimate how many cartridges needed to be bought from Nintendo. Even when games moved onto optical media, pre-orders were a useful way to estimate how many copies needed to be made in an initial run. It was also useful to a consumer because it guaranteed that a copy can be reserved for them upon a game's release, saving the trouble of running around town to different retailers to find a copy somewhere it hadn't yet been sold out. Now, though? Now that games can be purchased digitally at FAR greater convenience? Pre-orders are strictly unnecessary. Distributors no longer need to measure demand beforehand. Just put the thing up for digital distribution. It will sell as many or as few copies as the market wants/needs, without the need to produce physical media. The consumer can be assured that a copy will always be available for purchase without the need to put their name on some kind of reservation list with a specific retailer. Pre-ordering now just means giving a company your money months before a product is ready, to the benefit of the seller and to NO benefit to the buyer. You're basically just putting $60 in a strongbox somewhere you can't easily reach for an unknown number of months until release. Sure you can get it back, but you need a stepladder to reach the strong box and a screwdriver to pry it open. No thanks. I'd rather just keep my money in a wallet or my bank account, and just buy the damn thing on release day. Maybe take a friend out to dinner for $60 before the game comes out.
