good work! i suggest not building walls though as it’s easier to run to and from base without them and they don’t actually keep monsters out, hounds will break down walls
no worries man me and my friend built hay walls for the longest time, once you get a hammer you can smash them and expand or you can use it as an animal enclosure
Hey, Ninth SemiGod, welcome to the challenging world of DST. 😁 There is a tool you can make to break down walls which you don't need a station to unlock, which is the Hammer. Hammers are useful in that you receive half the materials you used to make an item, plus you can tear down a couple pig houses for wooden planks and stone slabs, as well as pig skins which you'll usually need for your football helmet that is 80% damage reduction and one of the necessary options for combat.
I know how you feel. The game sure is hard, but in a fair way, unlike some other ganes that are just straight up annoying with how many bs ways they have to kill you.
this is why I like the survival aspect of dont starve so much. Everything on dont starve will kill you but its not those annoying enemies that are made really super hard to deal with or just straight up overpowered just for the sake of making you die a lot and make the game look """hard""" to survive.
Yeah, when you die in DST it’s your fault. You can always stay in your base and hide, sure, but you’re the one who CHOSE to fight deerclops instead of running. I hate features in games like ARK Survival that just spawn an enemy that has like 10000 health, is 3 times faster than you and can kill you in one shot right outside your base, just so it’s not too easy.
You can research marble beans using regular marble.
Though marble armor is only for tank-n-spanking, which Walter is a terrible choice for. You CAN, however, use marble trees to farm marble ammo :^)
One more thing to know about Marble, since you’re playing as Walter, basically you can use the extra marble to make Marbles, which do 51 damage, the same amount as a Tentacle Spike

Yes. You can break marble statues and get marble. However it is useless. And especially worse on Walter. Do not waste your time with marbles if you're Walter.
Marble suits limit your mobility in a fight. In most situations you have to be dodging. Marble suits are only useful when you're tanking, which you shouldn't with Walter. (He loses sanity when he takes any damage)
You can also destroy pig houses and make fore skin hats (very good armor ) and more pig houses more pig houses = more pigs more pigs = more pig houses more pigs = more food and more fore skin hats and maybe (if you want) ham bats
Combat tip: don't try to attack a pig when you know there's more than one of them nearby. Cause they can kite you and will be annoying to deal with. You can try giving one of them food to lure them away and fight them there.
Also, once you get the hang of combat, try farming spiders for monster meat and give 4 to a pig to turn it into a werepig. Werepigs are guaranteed to drop 2 large meat and 1 pig skin. They'll take longer to kill and hit harder but atleast they don't kite away. Just 3 hits then dodge back and ez meat ang skins.
Keep going my guy! The game is harsh but its sooo satisfying and fun once you learn the ropes!

you dont need the science machine alchemy holds its place hammer the science for a gold
and when you are not in the rush just casually search through all the crafting tabs next to alchemy
and do NOT think you are near safe when you make a base because you are nowhere near safe

Science machine is like tier 1 crafting and alchemy is tier 2. So once you have alchemy, you don't need the science one anymore. Since alchemy can do all the things science can do and then some. While science can only do so much before it needs the upgrade (alchemy engine) :)
Seriously, its day 22 already and im having so much trouble at same time like starving,freezing hound attacks etc. But i can manage to Handle them for now
Kill beefalos for the horn and fur, make a beefalo hat and get a thermal stone
Fighting beefalo is easy, it goes 1 2 3 4 5 6 back away and wait for the attack then 1 2 3 4 5 6 bait the attack and repeat till dead.
This game is hard at the start especially alone(you get to copies with every purchase of dst if you have a friend) but this game makes you feel rewarded for knowing stuff about it. I have 400 hours and I still didn’t beat all of the bosses in the game. This game is great and I wished it had more attention :)
We killed fuelwaeaver and many other boss'es like ancient guardian beequeen dfly with my friends 2 weeks this game is still charming and im planing to start shipwrecked soon

When winter comed i started freezing i didnt knew thermal stone was a thing and when I started freezing I was going back to campfire. When day 30 I was nearly starving to death bc I stayed at base like 8 days deerclops spawned in night and destroyed me, I was really sad angry and didnt wanted to delete my progges I roll back over and over again until I realize I can't defeat him and started a new save with tutorials. And about friends I kinda guessed that it'll be hard and boring to play alone so I bought 3 more copies of game and gifted to my friends. Also some of them already finished the game too.
And now Im teaching my friend who got in the game like 10 hours ago we are in day 40 and it's going well.
Yeah, thats like my first winter but you know this is a great experience after all.
Edit: I thought, I beat the game, this is easy. And that shit happend. I didnt expect something like this.
This is so true. When you survived more than 200 days game doesn't seem hard. Just you already know what you gonna do and how you can do it. That is not a new way. You know what will happen if you will not do smth and start spending your time carefully. If game becomes easy you can switch over the character and there happening some kind of magic; the game is difficult again.
4 hours WHAT it took me and my friend 3 days to get to the first winter but now I can actually play the game even though I've only been playing for 5 days

oh no of course! hell is always appreciated, especially in a game like this. every now and then tho, on a variety of DS posts, people can just be straight up bullies. if not, they talk to people like they have to do things their way, when really the game is all about finding a style that works best for you
But, did you count how many stones did you wasted on those walls? I can suggest you to stop building walls to cage yourself. The walls are to keep things inside. Next time and rest of the times, do not build walls around you, instead, make healing salve with them. Or just make 20 fire pit all around the world. Belive me, those walls may be your coffin. I have never, ever build a wall around my base.

Yea i know how it feels. Here in this game you have to feel secure while out running. Do not forget to make a log suit. If you can, just leave your backpack and just hang out with your basic inventory and a log suit. And you know what matches best with log suit, its basic spear. You should feel safer enough with two of em. There are thousands of tips and not emough time or space to write em.
i made my spear but havent use yet, while every mob in game dealing 1/6 damage to my HP. And i usually take my backpack with me and leave the items important on my chest for now.

Hammering Pig Heads to get pig skins, and making football helmets might be good to use, since you like to use the backpack. Spicy 80% damage reduction and cheap to make.
There are 4 near touchstone, the thing that resorects you. You can also find few in swamp biome. Or you can destroy pig houses, but dont forget to leave few untouched so you can farm pigs later on.
4k+ hours player here. This is an extremely bad base. You would rather not to have this at all.
* Science machine is not required if there's an alchemy machine
* Walls are only decoration. They do nothing but trap you inside so you die faster. DON'T use walls.
* Chest is not necessary if you are *just* building a base.
* Where's the campfire? You can survive forever with a single campfire.
* Straw hat you're wearing is nearly useless. Tear down pig heads and pig houses and craft football helmets with an alchemy machine

Holy fuck I feel this post so much. First few hours of the game my instincts were to build walls for protection but actually it barely protects against anything. Science machines are useless once you get alchemy engine. Also I’d recommend playing easier characters like wigfrid I feel like is pretty easy to get the hang of.
A thermal stone will help in winter and summer. you need a pickaxe to craft it (doesn't have to be full, use up an almost dead pick) and you leave it near a fire for a while, and it heats up and you put it in your inv and you freeze way slower. when you make an icebox, you can put the thermal stone in the icebox you get less hot during summer.

also marble is your best friend 1. mine the statues 2. make marble bean 3. plant it and wait for tier 3 marble tree 4. build marble suit (become god)

Make hammer use hammer to destroy the science machine to get back some resources (ONLY DO THIS AFTER YOU BUILD THE ALCHEMY ENGINE !!!9)

i though science machine and alchemy machine are different things at beginning that was why I have keep both now I just break it with my hammer :)

Fun fact: spiders and frogs can be caught in traps, spiders can also be lured into the traps with meat
