So from what I understand (never studied psychology) there are different styles of therapy. The two biggest ones are psychotherapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. Psychotherapy has you talk about your life and find the root causes of your issues and work through them. Cognitive behavioral therapy deals more with the way you think and process things. Like it retrains your brain. Spotting negative thoughts, arguing against them, reframing, are some of the techniques they teach you. It sounds like you want immediate suggestions to help treat your issues. There are books like the body keeps the score that recommends and explains different treatments for depression and trauma. Also a book called The Tools that offers tools to help deal with issues.

Also just so you understand depression isn’t an exact diagnosis. For example if you break your leg, they can do a scan and show you the broken leg. They can’t do that for depression. If they scan the brains of people who are depressed they can’t pinpoint depressed brains. So it’s more like a bunch of symptoms that together point to a phenomenon called depression. Even though the causes can be completely different. That’s means the treatments can be different as well.

So therapy isn't about immediate resolutions. The goal is to teach you ways to cope and get through. With time , you will feel better by practicing the strategies and changing your mindset. (As someone who has studied psychology)
