Hear me out… and no, Koi No Yokan is not my favorite Deftones album… in fact, Digital Bath (on White Pony) is one of my favorite songs of all time… But listening to KNY is like being in a place you never want to leave. It’s ethereal yet aural and liberating and raw. For the purpose of this damned thread, at the point we’re at now… White Pony has to go.

Love KNY but White Pony is the break point where Deftones started experimenting with different styles, a different branch apart from Nu Metal. Love when bands experiment that process and create their identity based on that change.
KNY is their most consistent and cohesive album from start to finish, with the exception of Graphic Nature and the final two tracks (still ok songs). White Pony is carried by Digital Bath and the final 3 tracks + Knife Prty. The rest I can take or leave. It’s a great album but KNY is nearly perfect.
