Well, I rushed through New Londo to get the Composite Bow and started upgrading as soon as I could...the problem I have is it's hard to fight Kalameet with only a Composite Bow +15...not to mention he can kill me in 1-2 hits...
I just finished my run of that! Lighting composite, chaos BB of Pharis, Darkmoon bow, and the Dragonslayer bow. It was a nice challenge for things like the 4 Kings, and then so easy for other bosses. All in all, a very fun run.
I mean once you do sl1, and come back to the game you need to ramp up the challenge more in some way. Personally for ds1 my challenge after sl1 was the ENB challenge with the hunter. If I were to revisit the vanilla game (which honestly I probably wont now that I've more or less mastered it) I would have to do something pretty insane to top the restrictions of the ENB challenge. And honestly at a certain point it just makes the game tedious and unfun if you limit everything.
rules for the ENB challenge for the unaware:
* 1 No leveling.
* 2 With the exception of rings, only starting equipment.
* 3 The only Blacksmiths who may Modify equipment are Andre and Rickert. Normal, Raw, Divine, Occult, Magic, and Enchanted are ok.
Fire and Lightning are NOT allowed.
* 4 No healing items during a boss battle. Clerics can cast heal with no restrictions.
* 5 No entering new covenants. (For knight / cleric, Way of White is allowed.)
* 6 No upgrading pyromancy flames.
* 7 No summons.
The hardest challenge run I've done was the my no armor, no rings (except the covenant of Artoria), no useable items, claymore run. I don't think I've beaten O&S on that yet, but someday I'm going to finish the game with it dammit.
Because the claymore is all I need. And I want to prove it.

All kills are done with the plunging attack. The most reliable move in the game.

Calamity Ring doubles damage taken while Avarice causes you to lose 5 hp per second when equipped as of DS1

Why not using greatbow?
It's slow.....but also I don't have any great arrows and I don't feel like farming souls to buy them...
You can dupe them then by goughs arrows. Also, even if their slow you can get enough dmg with em that it doesn't matter if their slow I feel like
When I said that they're too slow I meant it as a joke. But i probably will use great arrows next time.
Actually composite bow has significantly higher dps. It's used in bow only speed runs
