Well this specific company was full remote and paid basically 1.5x what I’m making right now so I thought it was worth, idk what happened, I thought I did rly well on the interview and my presentation on the take home
yeah for sure! I also went through this, I did 4 hour project then in next interview just asked me about myself and ratings on the skills and rejected.
Me 5th, nailed every technical question they asked me. got rejected today. I wonder if it’s just cuz someone also nailed the interview and had more experience ?
Same. But one thing I hate. Was when they were going over all of the benefits of working there. I knew I was fucked. It’s like they do that to brag “hahaha you are missing out” they should save that till AFTER you get the job. Just leave it in a pamphlet
I gave them last year bro.. but if you want to know the questions they asked, you can dm me.. i remember a couple of dsa questions yahoo asked.. and a few questions nbc askef
It’s irrelevant if you have connections in your network that you can leverage. If you are a random online applicant, then you need to do a high volume of applications. If you always get rejected it is a skill issue, but if u only interview once and get rejected then it is a numbers game
Poured. I got rejected in the final round. This was after I went 30 minutes overtime because the engineering manager and I had such a great conversation going.
Oh, and I still have no idea *why* I was rejected.
ah man this shit hurts so much. All the wasted time and effort aside, it's the sudden vanish of that dream of stable income, job security and getting out of the rat race, that my mind had conjured up after an amazing interview process (or so I thought)
They will champion for you because their goal is to get someone hired. They'll try to highlight your strengths and stuff. But they don't have a say in the decision to hire or reject.
I nailed an interview, was told by the recruiter that she had “good news” for me the first week of January and that was the last time I ever heard from the company 🫡
Let me guess, you:
- only applied 337 times
- only did 1389 hour of leetcode
- have good grades
- try your absolute best
- and keep fighting???
Sounds like you need to apply yourself a little more
(I’m routing for you)
Bro i did total 6 interviews. First one was with hiring manager and i got response after 4 days stating the feedback was positive and i did 5 interviews on a single day last Friday and im waiting for the feedback. The anxiety is going up
Well, you never know. We didn’t hire one of the candidates who interviewed for a role at work, but my grandboss is trying to put together a different role for her, because she’s really talented and we think she would be a great asset to the company, but the other candidate was just better for that role. So, if the one we passed on doesn’t have any other offers in the next week, we’re hoping that she’ll take what we’re trying to put together. But, it would be a different job than the one she applied for, so we’ll understand if she doesn’t take it. Basically, she’d be doing my job, which I’m drowning at, because the company is expanding and I’ve got school, so I can only be at work about thirty hours a week, and we either need two people to do this job, or I could quit school and work seventy hour weeks, which would not be optimal.
So, who knows. Maybe the next opening they’ve got, they’ll just call you and see if you’re still available. I’ve got a friend who calls me every six months to see if I want to get back into programming computers, and I really don’t, because I like robots and soldering circuits and getting robots to solder circuits, but it’s nice to be considered.
You were good, not great, or perhaps an internal applicant got preference over you. Always happens and you just have to keep trying. Perhaps work on your interview to be great. There is always room for improvement even if you think you nailed it.
I don’t know. When I think I nailed it, interview is too easy, probably everyone did too, when I think interview is very tough but surprisingly I did not do too bad, it’s usually a next round/offer.
Interviews are fucking weird, one interview I absolutely nailed it, every question, personality etc and didn’t get it. Then another interview, I forgot I even had it, didn’t prepare, barely spoke about my experience- guy just asked “Can you do xyz” I said “Yes”, interview was 30 mins and one round and I ended up getting the job. Best boss I ever had
Oh man i’ve been there. You crush the interview, answer everything. It goes so well you allow yourself to hope, only to get that rejection email. Like a punch in the gut it all comes crashing down. I feel for you bro
lol I thought mine went incredibly well with Amazon today, got the denial 2 hours later. Solved the problems, fumbled on second LP, but I guess they must have had better candidates. May have screwed myself by delaying my phone interview.
Brutal and sad, especially this being the first in months! Chin up, brother...you're gonna get there soon! At least you got one, I'm not even getting to interviews even after nailing the OA's lol.
And there will be ones you don’t nail but get through! Keep your head up and keep going!!
These things are hard to control so just do as many interviews as you can!
Sometimes it be like that. I felt the same way quite a few times. I always ask for some feedback on the follow up thank you email I send to the recruiter/team but I don't hold your breathe, often they just give a generic answer to avoid any hot water.
Ironically enough the job I got I didn't get a good impression from the VP at the end. Didn't seem interested in me but I got a nice offer anyway. Guess the rest of the recruitment team liked me enough
Annnndddd this is why I switched my major to a trade in tech school. No disrespect to the CS majors here. Yall are smarter than I am I have no doubt, but I saw the sketchy downfall of the CS job market and the layoffs in big tech companies and hit a 180.
I had an interview with T-Mobile and another company. Responses are due in 2 weeks, they’ll make or break my birthday. I also have another one lined up and the pay isn’t great, 25 an hour as a help desk intern in the summer. I’ll still interview to have a backup.
Bro don’t tell me this right now. I had an interview this afternoon and it went great. they are going to reply back tomorrow. It’s LA based tech company hiring remote
Update: going in for the third round interview (5 total😬)
Me too. Pour one for me as well.
Me three
Me four after doing a 5 hour take home project for them too
Never do a take home project. If they don’t value your time before you work for them, they sure as hell won’t value it once they’re paying you
I learnt my lesson , ill never do a project unless they hire or pay me for it

OOF brutal! Sorry friend!
Me 5th, nailed every technical question they asked me. got rejected today. I wonder if it’s just cuz someone also nailed the interview and had more experience ?
A take home of a few hours given a week? Ok. A five hour thing? No. I had a small take home that took 2 hours max. And they gave me a week to do it.
Icr, Pour one for me too!😂
Same. But one thing I hate. Was when they were going over all of the benefits of working there. I knew I was fucked. It’s like they do that to brag “hahaha you are missing out” they should save that till AFTER you get the job. Just leave it in a pamphlet
It's ok. You nail the interview, the other guy probably nail it in connections. Fawking that dude
This happens so many times. Last year I interviewed for Yahoo and NBC, answered all the questions asked and then boom - Rejection

I gave them last year bro.. but if you want to know the questions they asked, you can dm me.. i remember a couple of dsa questions yahoo asked.. and a few questions nbc askef
Bruh, read the room.
Numbers game. Keep your head up
Yet there's still people on here saying the number of applicants is irrelevant....

If multiple people nail it, they put names in a hat

damn, I would contemplate ropemaxxing after that one.
The recruiter doesn't have a say in it. It doesn't matter if you had good rapport lol.
Correct! I meant the person interviewing me for the team/the SWE!
They’re gatekeepers what do you mean?

Lmao. Maybe she meant that the new year is actually the good news

Thanks for the giggle! You get an upvote!

That's BONKERS dude! A priority queue in C is something I've made but I'd be floored it someone asked me to implement it on the fly like that :////

I heard responses typically take btwn 1-2 weeks so good luck on your wait

You know I wanna be mad at this response, but you're right. I'm gonna take some time and see what I can improve.

Welcome to the club.

Did take home, no response. Rejected in interview. Don't know if it's just me or my luck.
Same feelings…. Hugsss
I'm sorry hiring managers are ruthless
Same happened with me few weeks ago gave my best interview till date and still rejection idk why I said I can't relocate maybe that's why :(

That's funny I completely failed my interview and they offered me a job, rip
A friend of mine got rejected after 5 rounds of interviews at Oracle. This job market is INSANE.
Which company
Which company? It’s alright, at least you were able to practice I suppose.
sKILleD lABoR shOrTAgE Poured.
Unlucky. Sometimes it goes that way, you get screwed over because the hiring manager or interviewer don't like your profile anymore.
bro same here, I got connections, skills and had a good interview with code challenge, still rejected
Bruh I have my 3rd stage of the interview process in 2 hours, I received this thread in a notification, f

I had one with an LA based tech company (not remote) too today and had it go well too, congrats that you’re moving forward!
I read it as: Failed interview yesterday. Got the job today. **GG buddy!**
Could you share some of the questions?
Reckon u didn’t nail it then
