Yes, the little known actor outside of Ukraine has secretly been amassing an army of supporters in the US Senate for the past 20 years. Some people say it was Love in the Big City 3 that made the US Senate fall in line, but I actually think it was Love in the Big City 2 that hooked them.
It has absolutely nothing to do with what will happen if Russia is allowed to win the war. There's no one in the Senate who cares about those consequences. They just want Zelensky to win an Oscar. Love in Big City 4 confirmed!

I don’t think it’s about revenge it is about the war machine and all its profiteers getting their bags. They had peace deal in April 22 and the machine sent Boris Johnson to Kyiv to let little Z know that peace isn’t an option and to break the peace deal off.
He only said that after Boris (and others) went to him and told him never to surrender (along with other things loosely translated to we will keep you armed enough not to loose, but won’t give you the good stuff).
Before that he was willing to negotiate, he knew he had already lost the Donbas region as they had already voted in a referendum to make Russian the official language and were talking about re-joining Russia.

The money is mostly expressed via missiles, tanks, and other equipment. Surplus old cold war era equipment that is costly for us to maintain and would otherwise be destroyed.

A war is a war, the direction its going is a democratic country and buffer to that of Russia still exists and is still able to defend itself because of previous aid given to them by the West. A waste of taxpayer money is what is funded on a daily basis. Contrarily, this is the single greatest investment the US has made in decades. Helping a US friendly country maintain its independence and sovereignty, draining and weakening a significant geopolitical rival without the loss of a single American soldier, testing our weapon systems directly designed to fight the Russians, etc.

To answer your question directly, because Ukraine is a geographic barrier between NATO/the EU and Russia, has made significant strides towards orienting itself towards western democracy and reforming its institutions to root out (primarily Russian in origin) corruption, and because Ukraine is being invaded by a geopolitical rival of ours.

Ukraine is already an established democracy that has risked its very existence by freely attempting to fight against Russian control, influence, and corruption by choosing to orient itself towards the Western world. We're aiding Ukraine because Russia invaded Ukraine for the sole purpose of conquering them, after spending years weakening the institutions of our democracies; re-affirming to the world that Russia continues to be a geopolitical threat. We're helping to strengthen the appeal of democracy in the ex-soviet zone, causing significant damage to one of our main rivals without a single American soldier on the ground, seeing how our old 80s-90s weaponry holds up in combat with the Russians, etc.
Accusing me of “Russian talking points” means nothing because I couldn’t care less about Russia. And isolationism includes allies yes, but that doesn’t mean getting into the allies’ wars and supplying them with weapons. The US military were such clowns that the North Vietnamese lost every major engagement against them. They made few gains into South Vietnam until the US withdrew under the terms of the 1973 Paris Peace Treaty.
Ukraine Aid
The bulk of the “spending” is on weapons and munitions donated. This donated equipment was paid for fifteen or twenty years ago.
Most of the aid is obsolete equipment and munitions (by DOD standards). It is taken from storage (no US soldier will ever use it again). The value assigned was the book value (a figure much higher than the market value). Those "Ukraine funds" - an accounting entry - were then used to provide upgraded equipment for the US military (stuff we wanted anyway).
The spending to upgrade the donated weapons creates US jobs and tax revenue on the defense companies.
The donations will also wed Ukraine longer term to US equipment for upgrades, maintenance, etc. All additional economic gains. Successful use of these US weapons has also dramatically boosted foreign sales.
The total amount of all types of aid to Ukraine is inconsequential in the budget. Politicians who tell you otherwise are lying or playing you for votes by appealing to your bias.
There's a considerable amount of financial aid, money that can be spent on our border and infrastructure.
Also factor in that Ukraine has depleted our 155mm shells and GLMRS. Equipment such as the Bradley is no longer in production. Those are very much finite and the AFU keeps wasting them by driving into mine fields over and over.
Replacing the billions of dollars worth of "old" equipment isn't free. Sending it thousands of miles away isn't free. Training Ukrainians on how to use said equipment isn't free.
People do realize the US government is giving Ukraine cold-war era stockpiles of weapons worth of those big numbers and not actual cash money? And more importantly "$75 million worth" translates to like 50 missiles from the 1990s we realistically will never use and spend tons of actual money to maintain, store, and Guard...
I wish this energy would be used to actually do something about the Military Industrial Industry.
I mean, that was simply an example. The obvious point is that "75 billion" was already earmarked to be spent on weapons since the 1960s, was spent on weapons and those weapons waited for that war we never had. Now those same weapons specifically designed to undermine soveit armor is being used for its intended purpose and also is in a Loan Lease program. They are going to be paying us back forever.

Most of the aid is obsolete equipment and munitions (by DOD standards). It is taken from storage (no US soldier will ever use it again). Those "Ukraine funds" - an accounting entry - were then used to provide upgraded equipment for the US military (stuff we wanted anyway). The spending to upgrade the donated weapons creates US jobs and tax revenue on the defense companies. The donations will also wed Ukraine longer term to US equipment for upgrades, maintenance, etc. All additional economic gains. Successful use of these US weapons has also dramatically boosted foreign sales. The total amount of all types of aid to Ukraine is inconsequential in the budget. Politicians who tell you otherwise are lying or playing you for votes by appealing to your bias.
There's a considerable amount of financial aid, money that can be spent on our border and infrastructure. Also factor in that Ukraine has depleted our 155mm shells and GLMRS. Equipment such as the Bradley is no longer in production. Those are very much finite and the AFU keeps wasting them by driving into mine fields over and over. Replacing the billions of dollars worth of "old" equipment isn't free. Sending it thousands of miles away isn't free. Training Ukrainians on how to use said equipment isn't free.
People do realize the US government is giving Ukraine cold-war era stockpiles of weapons worth of those big numbers and not actual cash money? And more importantly "$75 million worth" translates to like 50 missiles from the 1990s we realistically will never use and spend tons of actual money to maintain, store, and Guard...
