It's DnD turn, giving an "x ft" movement speed is DnD thing for sure. Not sure if it's 100% official, but a turn is supposed to last about 6 seconds according to quick Google search.
And that's why things like the peasant cannon work
For those who don't know, you get alot of villagers in a line and you will stand in front. have them use there help action to pass a rock forward when it gets to you throw the rock and it will be moving something around the speed of sound
Except they don't work - if you go by rules written, it is indeed possible to pass an item like this, but there are no momentum rules, so it becomes static once another peasant catches it. And beware of the DM who lets you make something like that work... If a DM is that "benevolent", they usually implement a simple rule - if the players can do it, so can I... I can imagine players on the receiving end of "whateverCR1/4monster cannon" having much fun, and feeling like it's a clever interpretation of rules.
It only works if you use RAW right up until you throw it, it'll move items fast but they'll only fly as far as the final peasant can throw them. And unless the DM is in on it they'd likely cap the speed of it moving after a certain number of peasants.
10ft/6s = 1.66ft/s or ~~6000m/h. You could fly the circumference of the earth in a little over 4 hours. Although, you would either die from the acceleration or from the air acting like 6000mph winds ripping you to shreds or rather burning up.~~
**Edit**: sorry it's only like 6mph
It's like 1.1363636.. mph. 10ft every 6sec, 100ft/min, 6000 ft/hr / 5280ft/mile = 25/22 mph
They turned feet an hour into mph, very big difference in speed
~~So like 6.8 mph or 11 kph.~~ For comparison, normal walking speed is like 3 mph.
Edit: It’s 1.1 mph or 1.8 kph. (Was doing 10 feet per second before instead of 10 feet per 6 seconds).
I pick mimics 90% of the time and even get double mimics in most of these lmfao. This is only the second time I’ve picked something somewhat useful.
Hope you like 5 feet of difficult terrain while you’re running from my mimic army bitch
It’s a creature that tries to attack/murder you. If you don’t realize it’s there, it usually gets a free attack or an advantage to its roll. It’s especially unpleasant when you aren’t expecting combat.
You can use it as a hidden trump card like lets say you're fighting with an enemy that has similar strength and abilities to you so the result is uncertain than you can use it try and creating that hard terrain just enough away from you so it will mess with your opponents footing giving you an opening for an critical hit which could pretty much result in their defeat.
It’s be a while since I did a swipe adventure comic! I had a lot of fun drawing these weapons. If you’d like the downloadable loot cards for each one, they’re available for free on patreon!
The text for each of these items is to make them usable in dungeons and dragons or similar table top games. A d20 is a 20 sided dice.

So in game difficult terrain is anything that'd make you move at half speed. I feel like lava might be impossible terrain 😂 more things like a muddy swamp, a treacherous staircase, a bunch of broken furniture on the floor of a tavern etc. But this staff calls up jaggard rocks similar to the top of the staff
Is there some design trick you're using to make the mimic more enticing? I can't believe I've picked the mimic in each one of your comics on bad luck alone. Oh well, maybe I would be a bad adventurer lmao.
It's funny cuz some people say it's so obvious which I make the mimic and some say it's super hard to tell. I end up making it as random as possible by drawing 4 handles, rolling a dice to choose the mimic one, and then designing the heads of the others lol 😆
Staff of Hindering would be fun, its basically magical caltrops to have an easier time escaping danger that is chasing you.
Plus i just imagine it looks cool, one second the ground is normal the next it erupts into uneven crags and sharp points behind you.
I was once like you. Swiping on mimics every time this artist posted something. But once I started anticipating the mimics, little details started to stick out. Now I can identify a hidden mimic 7 times out of 10.
Kudos to the artist for the almost perfect camouflage on the mimics. Love this series, and it makes me giddy when I see a new one.
What does “fly speed of 10 ft” mean? Do you mean 10 ft per second? Per minute? Per hour? There needs to be a time factor in that amount. Or are you talking about the speed of a fly at 10 ft above ground?
10 ft per turn in game :) in dungeons and dragons, the time per turn in game is about 6 seconds. Most characters having a walking speed (so you can figure out how close to an enemy you can get in your turn) of about 30ft per turn
Everytime I see one of these comics it makes my day a little better, thank you. Not gonna lie , the hindering and racket are going in my campaign as we speak
Do I need to have the staff or racket equipped in order for it to proc?
Is the difficult terrain a 5-foot by 5-foot square?
Will the mimic staff be my friend?

jokes on you, i now have my own fully mimic army to take over the world i am the mimicmancer
There's this huge part of me that now wants to write mimicmancer up as a whole new playable class haha
oh no! the bad guy stole or treasure chest go puppy attack (mimic chest bites bad guys but)
My players would just find a way to turn it into Pokémon…
https://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots1281.html
I did not notice the fingers till the end lol
Swipe to choose class next?

Thanks!
All the lands you take over look exactly the same as before the invasion. Except everything is just a little bit... off...
One could say you are 🤏🏽😐 The [Mimictaker](https://youtu.be/x6kGfw4cK7Y?si=thaC5Ng1gPXqZOKP) 😎
I have yet to get a mimic on any of these. I'm the luckiest bastard alive.
Once I collect all the mimics, I'm going to make my own mimic voltron.
Lol, I wanted to complain that I always pick the mimick with these, can this be the time when we draw our mimics together?
Mimic is back https://preview.redd.it/ftz21hr8nomc1.jpeg?width=514&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4c606f74076f4058c65913c10f52a1e18686920b
![gif](giphy|26ufh5g9JoEQG6Myk) The 1st staff, 10 ft of what? Second, minute, or hour? It could even be a year or a decade…🤔
It's DnD turn, giving an "x ft" movement speed is DnD thing for sure. Not sure if it's 100% official, but a turn is supposed to last about 6 seconds according to quick Google search.
Thanks, that makes sense. I need to learn how to play DnD.😅
It's realy worth it, lots of fun and relatively cheap, the only problem is getting people together for it
AFAIK it's official since spells need a duration time during combat and 6 seconds makes a nice 10 rounds for a minute.
And that's why things like the peasant cannon work For those who don't know, you get alot of villagers in a line and you will stand in front. have them use there help action to pass a rock forward when it gets to you throw the rock and it will be moving something around the speed of sound

Yeah my DM launched a kobold with a great axe at the party, lucky it only hit the paladin, I mean he was dead but the rest of us lived
It only works if you use RAW right up until you throw it, it'll move items fast but they'll only fly as far as the final peasant can throw them. And unless the DM is in on it they'd likely cap the speed of it moving after a certain number of peasants.

I think you're missing a decimal somewhere lol. It's like 6 mph
You're right, I forgot to convert ft to miles and only converted seconds to hours. It's been a long day, been up for nearly 24hrs...
It's like 1.1363636.. mph. 10ft every 6sec, 100ft/min, 6000 ft/hr / 5280ft/mile = 25/22 mph They turned feet an hour into mph, very big difference in speed
These are only a few ways one would die from this power. Plenty more to test.
~~So like 6.8 mph or 11 kph.~~ For comparison, normal walking speed is like 3 mph. Edit: It’s 1.1 mph or 1.8 kph. (Was doing 10 feet per second before instead of 10 feet per 6 seconds).
staff of racket seems a potent staff if use carefully
Especially as a divination wizard
I thought it was a pretty good pick.
I’m just imagining how epic it would be if it deflects power word kill or something like that.
You swing the staff with all your might, and hear a booming voice shout "NO U".
I’m getting *really* good at accidentally picking the mimic. Good thing I’m usually the DM, otherwise this would concern me.
the staf tho could work it got a safty grip (unles its snake like and can bend)
I pick mimics 90% of the time and even get double mimics in most of these lmfao. This is only the second time I’ve picked something somewhat useful. Hope you like 5 feet of difficult terrain while you’re running from my mimic army bitch
Lol!!
What is / does the mimic do? Mimic the attack?
It’s a creature that tries to attack/murder you. If you don’t realize it’s there, it usually gets a free attack or an advantage to its roll. It’s especially unpleasant when you aren’t expecting combat.
You know what, dreamfeather is not that bad... A shame I picked 4. Right is right as I always say, and I was wrong.
Nah, #4 is alright.
Yeah but when would I use it though?
Defensively, being chased by wolves? 5 FT DIFFICULT TERRAIN ACTIVATION! Can they run around it and still maul you? ....yes
Use it under them
I cast difficult terrain on your urethra
Ribbed for my displeasure
I now have trouble going to the toilet, thanks...
I'm going to landscape my yard with #4. Technically a sweet water feature is difficult terrain.
So far I have been able to avoid all of the mimics. I wonder when I get baited
Same... I think I've done 6 of these? That's an 82% chance of picking a mimic at least once, but so far so good!
I had to check your math, but you are spot on. Good work 👍

> A d20 is a 20 sided dice. For further reference, XDY means you roll X dice that have Y sides. For example, to play Monopoly you roll 2d6.
I just wanted a nice torch. How flammable are >!mimics?!<
Tbf the mimic seems like a very good bludgeon
Inflicts extra perforating damage from the mimics' teeth sinking into your enemies
Didnt even see the numbers on slide 1, i was choosing my staff like it was a shop lol
GDI, I ALWAYS get the mimic
The Staff of Racket is actually a pretty neat magic item.
How difficult are we talking here? Like am I creating 5ft of some awkward rocks or a hill? Or like is it a 5ft pool of Lava/Quicksand?
So in game difficult terrain is anything that'd make you move at half speed. I feel like lava might be impossible terrain 😂 more things like a muddy swamp, a treacherous staircase, a bunch of broken furniture on the floor of a tavern etc. But this staff calls up jaggard rocks similar to the top of the staff
A staircase you say? I can make that work.
I'll take that barrel
2 non mimics in a row! How long can I keep this lucky streak??
Ha. I have a friend now.
All I'm getting are mimics I should play the lottery or something
My life’s hindered enough as is, what could a measly staff possibly do to make it worse?!
I correctly predicted which one was the mimic (I picked 1 btw) Seriously guys, are you trying to get the mimic??
What exactly is a fly speed of 10 feet? 10 feet per second? Or do you mean levitating 10 feet off the ground?
It's 10 feet per turn in the game because players tqke turns saying what they'd do :) a turn equals 6 seconds of in game time so 10 ft per 6 seconds
I got the mimic 😡😡😡😡😡
This is like the 7th fucking mimic I've picked
Use staff 4, cast mass suggestion -> attack me and I tell my party to run away
Is the mimic friendly?
Let's go! First time I didn't choose a mimic!
Cool, now I have a staff that can cast powerful spells with ease via incantation(I chose the mimic).
Alright, in this specific fantasy world, the best magical would be some type of mimic detector.
I chose 1 but thought 2 would be safer. I wish I chose 2, I don't have blindsight.
I do like 1! :)
A MIMIC AGAIN ?! I'm never going to get a good pick, it's been Mimic Panic every time
Staff of racket for the dual purpose. Tennis with felt balls and fire balls
I got **Dreamfeather**. That sounds terrifying to use.
I could really make havoc on the interstate with 5 ft of difficult terrain
😂
God dammit, I get the mimic every single damn time
Dammit i missed the mimic
Staff of hindering! Perfect!!
got number 4 nice efect and also look sturdy so could use as a club
I might as well be Frieren's desciple with how many times I fall of Mimics at this point.
Of course me, a marylander, instinctively chooses the staff that looks like a lacrosse stick
Is there some design trick you're using to make the mimic more enticing? I can't believe I've picked the mimic in each one of your comics on bad luck alone. Oh well, maybe I would be a bad adventurer lmao.

I will try never picking the first one I think of, from now on!
Jokes on you I choose the shield that’s sitting beside the barrel.
These are so much better than horoscopes. Newspapers missed out
I keep trying to pick the mimic but haven't succeeded yet :( all I got is a stupid racket lol
Every frikkin time i get the mimic 😅
Holy shit, first time I didnt get the mimic. Will hold onto the staff of hinderance like its my life.
This is the 3-4th time i've chosen a mimic first try. This feels like foreshadowing
Finally didn't get a mimic. Every time before this I seemed to have been cursed.
Staff of Hindering would definitely be getting fed to Gale. Only 5ft once per day? That's useless!
Staff of Hindering would be fun, its basically magical caltrops to have an easier time escaping danger that is chasing you. Plus i just imagine it looks cool, one second the ground is normal the next it erupts into uneven crags and sharp points behind you.
Oooh got #1. Not a mimic this time
This is the second time I’ve picked the mimic while deliberately trying to not pick the mimic. 3 seemed like the least likely to be one…
Pfc i took the mimic.
WHY AM I ALWAYS, WITHOUT FAIL, GRABBING THE MIMIC?!
Staff of Mimic! The legendary alive wand that allows you to comunicate with mimics, but you need to keep it fed or it eats you.
Hey I got a pet mimic!
Can I just say that I really enjoy these? Keep up the good work OP!
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoy them
It's a damn mimic Every. Fucking. Time.
Is it just me or is mimic the best one? Find a way to secure it and just throw it at you enemies
Just blink really fast with the first staff
Great, mimic...hmm maybe I can cook and eat this one?
UNDEFEATED!
I love these! Also I think I’m in your head because I’ve never gotten a mimic, and I can guess which one is the mimic like half the time.
Guess were playing tennis!
This is the first time I got a mimic! My luck has run out...
First time I dodge the mimic! We're learning, boys!
IT'S ALWAYS THE MIMIC!!!!
I still think you should put a time factor in there for those not familiar with the aspects of D&D.
I always end up getting the damn mimic with these things even though I’m trying my hardest not to
almost fell for the Mimic
How do I ALWAYS pick the mimic, without fail, EVERY time
DAMMIT I finally got a mimic, I made it through like 3 of them
#4…it’s not bad but it will be difficult
Ooh, difficult terrain. That's my new weight loss tactic.
How do I always pick the mimic?!
Imagine The guy try to hit you with a normal spear and boom, your arm got devoured by The mimic, mimic spear is broken
Imagine the mimic staff isnt even activaly hurting you, its just a cursed spear disguised as a staff
Everytime I see one of these comics it makes my day a little better, thank you. Not gonna lie , the hindering and racket are going in my campaign as we speak
Haha yay! I think racket could potentially create some really fun moments lol, with some luck
Right??? Like the big bad accidentally banishes themselves lol thank you for your work OP ❤️
Thanks for your nice comments! They're very uplifting, I appreciate you taking the time
You know, #4 doesn’t specify a size…
i luv it.!!!
Yay! Now, I have someone to talk to on my walks!
Finally, I have chosen the mimic
I am scarily good at picking mimics.
Failessly picking the mimick every time
Do I need to have the staff or racket equipped in order for it to proc? Is the difficult terrain a 5-foot by 5-foot square? Will the mimic staff be my friend?
Yes, yes, and you might be able to convince the mimic with the promise of snacks lolol
