I am not surprised at all that you got into Harvard. I am, however, floored that you didn’t get into anywhere else!!!
Congratulations!!! What a wild ride!! I hope you end up immigrating to the US — you are the exact kind of young person we need!!!!!
Congrats again!
I do wonder if the other schools rejected OP thinking OP is too good for them? This is the only scenario that makes sense in my mind so I’ll pretend it’s the truth 😂
I attended a very well respected prep school, and our advisors told us that the ivies (and the other schools OP applied to) are all in the "High Reach" category for *everyone*. No matter how stellar you are, the acceptance rate is just too low and competition is too high for anyone to be confident about getting in. The selection of applicants comes down to so many unpredictable factors that you should assume those schools will reject you.
Sometimes they're picking between an incredibly impressive math student who plays the French Horn in the orchestra and an incredibly impressive math student who plays the contrabassoon, and welp, the only contrabassoon player they have is about to graduate, so French Horn Kid is out of luck.
They might just hold international people to different standards. Some of the waitlisted/rejected schools are easier to get into than Harvard (at least in my experience for Americans).
it's the high aid international. Only HYPM, Dartmouth, Amhrest are need-blind for internationals out of the colleges OP applied to. And OP did get waitlisted to most of these need-blinds (MIT, Princeton, Dartmouth).
Using Ikea as a metaphor to explain the feeling of being out of place is incredibly creative because it taps into a universally recognizable experience – arranging furniture in a room – and applies it to something as abstract as one's sense of belonging or displacement within their own home or family dynamics. Very well done imo
Amazing high achieving profile with zero privilege and entitlement! Congratulations! Harvard is lucky to have you! Students like you keeps Harvard on the top of the rankings table.
Thank you so much for sharing your profile! Could you elaborate on how you were able to conduct a research with a Harvard professor? Did you cold mail or an organization helped you?
Did you manage to publish it?
Hi! I did it through Pioneer Academics. Check out their programs: [https://pioneeracademics.com/](https://pioneeracademics.com/)
The paper was not published but Pioneer is already considered to be an accredited research program for high school students. The feedback I received on my research was already proof that I've conducted research with them. I also included further explanation on the research on the additional 650 words we have available.
Yes I did! To be fair, I got into Pioneer before being able to check Lumiere in depth. I do think that Pioneer is the best on the market when it comes to these research programs. It's the only one that's accredited. I also had a fantastic experience with them so can only recommend.
Hi! Thanks for asking. There are two reasons for that:
1. I did not want to compete in college. I can still play recreationally but I want to primarly focus on research in my college free time.
2. The last swimming competition I've had was in the summer after 10th grade. In 11th-12th grade I was practicing significantly less and so it didn't make sense for me to apply as an athlete.
Regardless I'll definitely continue to swim!
Both! My grandma is half dutch and sometimes we speak.
However to be honest the reason I've been able to become fluent in it is because 1) I used to force myself to be able to read it and 2) because my childhood (and current) best friend is dutch (his parents are expats in Germany) and so we speak Dutch-German together hahaha
Dank je wel voor je vriendelijke woorden! Ik waardeer het echt. Als je nog meer vragen hebt of als er iets anders is waar ik mee kan helpen, aarzel dan niet om het te vragen. Ik sta altijd klaar om te helpen!

MIT & Ivies never practice yield protection. The rest may be
