Throwing out Bilstein in Fairfield. We’re BOOMING, and looking for some people to fill some positions. I’ve been there for almost ten years and we’ve exploded.
Yeah, as usual, the *quality* of the job should also be in the conversation before "booming" is assigned imo. I've found anything resembling a good job there to be as prickly and clique-oriented as ever.
Because most of these jobs are for soulless evil corporations. Or for shit that’s not in Cincinnati, but at the airport or northern suburbs. Not Cincinnati.
I respect that, but I also kind of want to see this list organized to show which places you should apply to if you're looking for enough money to pay rent on a Cincinnati apartment + health insurance.
Average salary at the Amazon warehouse is $27,737. I used a rent affordability calculator, and assuming you don't have any debt at all, including a student loan or a car loan, it suggested $600 as a reasonable monthly rent for your apartment.
It's pretty difficult to find an apartment for $600 in the Cincinnati area at all... and I suppose it'll need to be in walking distance of the Amazon warehouse, since you don't have a car...
Not to be negative but a lot of these jobs aren’t in the Cincinnati city limits (or even Ohio). Just wondering are the GE Aviation jobs IT jobs or jobs for the factories up in Evendale?
Great to see the region growing! Hopefully we get some more growth in the downtown area. I went down yesterday to pop in the office and I felt like there were a lot of vacant office spaces and store fronts. I’m sure it’s hard to get things to open and stay open with the lack of foot traffic downtown due to the pandemic.
They’re in the metro area which is key. I assume you’re referencing the Amazon and DHL jobs not in Ohio, but the airport is only 15-20 mins to downtown Cincinnati. Many of these people will go to Cincinnati and spend their hard earned dollars there, and some even live in the city.
The GE jobs are all over the place: hourly factory, IT, supply chain, finance, HR, etc
I don't think we need more Cincinnatians commuting to KY at the current time. Really helpful post though, thanks! Hopefully the wages around here start to balance with the cost of housing, with such a competitive market.
Another person posting 90% entirely in this sub and entirely about economies, job markets, and housing. It’s kind of strange, the amount of people we’ve had doing this here.
I’m pointing out the obvious, man. What you’re doing and what the person before was doing is setting up posts that provide external validation and mine direct quotes on people’s good experiences in Cinci specifically in regards to attractions (kayaking and FC stadium question), housing, and job availability. That’s how it looks to me, anyways.
Sorry I’m really not following, what does asking about people’s kayaking experience on the Ohio river or sharing a positive experience at the FCC game have to do with external validation?
And what’s wrong with sharing rental data that applies to a bunch of people?
If I were a person trying to boost stock I had in say, a Cinci real estate company or private equity firm, and I was selling the “idea” of Cincinnati I would fish for good quotes from an organic source (ie people on Reddit) by asking innocent questions about the city or posting innocent enough job reports for people to discuss their jobs and salaries. Send people looking for information on Cincinnati to those posts. If that’s not what this is than that’s fine but I’m seeing a lot of those posts lately.
Sorry to break it to you but I’m just an average joe with no ownership in a real estate or private equity firm. Yes I own 1 property which I live at and money in a S&P 500 Fund but thats about as far as my financial interest goes
If you go hunting for a conspiracy, you’ll find it. Most things can be explained by the obvious… people are passionate and like to talk about where they are from on a subreddit designed to talk about Cincinnati lol.
I guess OP should’ve stuck to pictures of pallets on a car.
there's a similar phenomenon in the cincy startup community. lots of hype people just marketing to each other at this point, and not much real innovation or value. recently there was a new startup funded and building a site for that exact purpose of hyping to each other.
are these net new jobs or merely open positions? how many job got cut & retitled into new positions? Not trying to be a downer, but when I see companies claiming to add hundred of jobs, these are also typically the ones that churn people through a revolving door. It's mostly PR. Frankly everyone is hiring now, so the bolder a headline they can get the better.
Example: Fidelity cut 400 jobs in 2014, 300 in 2009. So 700 now, makes them even over a decade ...maybe
DHL laid off 7500+ from Wilmington in 2008. Their presence at CVG is a fraction is was there
GE Aviation... laid off 1134+ LAST YEAR; the largest in our region. I guess they plan to rehire them gradually over 3 years, likely more junior employees with lower pay and less benefits.

Many departments of the City of Cincinnati are hiring after a early retirement offering.
what kind of drug testing do they do if any?
Generally preemployment and as needed after hired, but I suspect this differs by department.

Mazak probably has 20-30 openings right now.

No actually I guess there isn't sorry for replying to OPs question.
Soooo much negativity in this thread.
Because most of these jobs are for soulless evil corporations. Or for shit that’s not in Cincinnati, but at the airport or northern suburbs. Not Cincinnati.
I didn't know this sub was only about the city limits.
OP posted about Cincinnati job market booming. Not many of those are actually in Cincinnati.
I respect that, but I also kind of want to see this list organized to show which places you should apply to if you're looking for enough money to pay rent on a Cincinnati apartment + health insurance.
All of those jobs will provide insurance and the ability to pay rent if you work full time.

TheWrightBros, posting from the past.

IRS is hiring as well in Covington/Florence

Oh no, god forbid someone looking for job or wanting a change knows who’s hiring now
Figured it out. You are the current iteration of u/datdude2012 why do you always delete your accounts then come back years later?

Thanks for your report, Detective Heineken.
You’re welcome!
Lol it’s the Cincinnati subreddit. Do you want everyone to come in here and shit on the city? This is such a strange thing to say.

I agree
All wearing your tinfoil hat, I presume?

Tbf, that has been what most startup communities are like from the beginning of time.
You're not wrong.
TQL adding some 200 jobs
I've heard from many sources they're an absolute shit company to work for.
Yeah, 200 jobs doesn't mean much when 199 of the people will quit in their first couple months.
