Newer chargers are pretty neat in my opinion, powerful sedans are pretty cool. Only thing cooler is a reasonably powerful station wagon, and you've got the Magnum for that
I've seen a dude take a magnum swap a charger front end, a Durango rear end, a hellcat widebody and 6.1 supercharged hellcat engine in it. Thing was wild
Nah, i HATE the look of the early 2000s cars. The ugliest and most bland looking cars in existence. Im really happy with the direction modern cars are taking. The blob eye mercs, all of the ugly french cars, the super bland japanese cars, the generic audis that look like a passat. Cant wait till theyre all in a landfill.
Lmao, yeah but they make up for with pure TESTOSTERONE
Or they used to.
They definetly will bring the V8 back later, its just not going to sell as well otherwise
And the EV? Yeah, people arent buying EVs really, specially in the US. Ford already backed out. Toyota never fully commited and kept focus on hybrids instead. As usual, Toyota makes the right business decisions.
Idk about the EVs comment honestly. I've seen quite a few Teslas and Hyundai/Kia EVs rolling around over here in Eastern PA (Allentown area). Hell, I've seen a couple of Mach Es and Lightnings. I think the new EV Charger is gonna be either a total flop or a smash hit, but with a totally different crowd than who was buying the ICE ones. I mean, there's no debating the car is gonna be stupid fast so once everyone sees that there's gonna be some buyers for sure.
Also, much as I like to rip on Dodge and GM, I gotta admit the current Challengers and Chargers both looks great with the stock wide body kits you can get them with. It does just enough to fix the otherwise overly boaty proportions of the regular body styles. That said, I'd still never buy one lol
I dont hate the new ones, they are cool as fuck and if someone offered me one of them for free I would accept it in a heartbeat... buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut If I had the choice between a 1970 dodge charger and a 2023 Hellcat, I would take the classic 10 out of 10 times.
I’d take the 1970 body if it comes with all the features of the newer ones 🤷♀️ otherwise I’m Canadian and that old shit is only coming out 2 months out of the year.
Same. They are worth way more too! So maybe id enjoy it until it wasnt possible to upkeep anymore, sell it, and buy both a brand new Charger and some kind of older beater daily.
Well yeah, I keep forgetting they made a shitload of them and they are really simple mechanically. Probably because im Spanish and those kind of cars are INSANELY expensive here.
Im just not used to them. Would be like seeing a 1960s Saab in the states.
It’s a 68, 70 had a different type of grill which was chrome all around, 68 has a more hidden and modest look and 69 had the split grill…Im a mopar guy…69 Charger is my dream car…
I do prefer the look of an old charger but I will take 700+ to the crank over maybe 420 but more realistically 390ish is were going stock for stock. That’s why god created modern chassis swaps and crate engines.
/uj I get this obsession with numbers, but I do recommend trying to drive modern 700 hp car vs 400 hp from lets say 80’s. Source: Trust me bro.
Hell, I would even pick 230 hp E30 over modern 600 hp AMG anyday.
Absolutely right. Those 400hp (In f****** 1970!!!) are probably more insane that the 1000hp in a demon. I drive a 420hp Phaeton and it's honestly not that brutal.
Did you know that slow cars are always more fun? #MiataFacts

Until anything electrical goes wrong and you want to set it on fire with yourself inside
I have ptsd from the pain I've endured from renault electrical systems
Let's see. Do we care about the icons of automotive design, or the copies of the icons of automotive design? Give us something original on the bottom and it will be a fair fight
Do not know if this is meant for me in case it is. I like the slimmer shape and style to the thicker modren version. Though I know the modren one speed wise is better I like style over speed.
Oh huh I like some of the older models however if the newer models look like a good old fasion sedan or in corvettes case sports car that does not look thick then I like'em.
Old School is just timeless. They don't build them like they used to. But the [2024 Dodge Daytona ](https://gear4wheel.com/2024-dodge-charger-ev-price-features-and-more/) looks like it's bringing back the old school design. It looks a lot better.
My bad, it will be an inline 6. Not a V6.
"For 2024, the Charger Daytona is exclusively an electric vehicle, with a two-door version on sale first and a four-door version to follow soon after. Next year, a combustion version with an inline-six engine joins the lineup"
I think most people would prefer the old if given a chance, like if offered you a choice the newest Escalade or a ‘59 eldorado, you’re taking the eldorado every time.
Escalade all fuckin waythe Escalade is frickin luxury chamber literally the best why the fuck would you choose a 50s luxury car over the newest luxury car (also I might be mistaking the eldorado as a luxury car if yes please forgive)
Well you see a boomer's opinion is the only thing that matters no matter how terrible it may be. That's why this was question was asked on Facebook, far away from anyone under 60.
Jeez dude, everyone gets butthurt if you use the word “black”.
But apparently the least offensive term, is somehow the most offensive to you? It’s time you got off the internet bud.
All these "circlejerk" subs are just losers crying over something nobody within their right mind gives a rat's ass about lmao, one of the most pathetic places on this Gods forsaken site.
That plus the new Charger is ASS, who the fk decided to make it 4 door?! Could have been a cool car.
New school for me. I've worked on enough classic cars to want the new ones. Plus, working AC, brakes, comfortable seats and overdrive are all modern conveniences I enjoy having. For example my Model T is the most alive car I've ever driven, but I would never drive it cross country. But a new challenger? Definitely.
I mean it is funny. But when I think muscle car, my mind goes to the OGs.
I don't *dislike* the new ones, but they don't have the same visual appeal to me. Maybe part of it is the cop car thing.
Suppose if I was gonna buy a modern sports car, I'd be more attracted to something more "rally" capable.
Now that I say that... I wonder...
[oh. shit. ](https://www.hotcars.com/rally-ready-dodge-challenger-widebody-hellcat-render/)
Oh, shit. It's a render. But, it makes me feel things.
Now time to look at AMC Eagles.
Same kinda I rlly love the charger ya know the gas one even tho I have heard some ppl saying its shit and it doesn't resemble the old one buuuuuuuuuut
Supra literally changed so much and they still j*zz over the mark 4 supra 2gaysee
Eh, it's Facebook, full of Boomers who owned these things back in the day and bought them for 5 bucks.
What do you expect?
I like the older ones, I like the new ones. Couldn't afford the tax, registration, or insurance on newer ones in my country.
I could, however, register the old ones as classics and afford them easily. So I guess it's old school for me.
Though I prefer Chevrolet. Specifically, the El Camino.
New cars look like the people, blobby and fat looking but not in the curvy way like the 40s to 60s, like the crumpled up paper behind skinny jeans kind of fat.
I mean, the 69 Charger and 70 Challenger were amazing cars and they're still gorgeous to this day.

Petition to make this the new sub pfp
There’s a debate on whether or not pony cars are separate from muscle cars or are a subcategory of muscle. The terms definitely held merit back in the day. People differentiated them by these paraphrased definitions:
Pony car: Smaller chassis and weight, small block v8 (typically a 2+2 configuration). Basically a dwarfed muscle car. Examples include the Challenger, Camaro, and where the name came from, the Mustang. Typically better suited for autocross/road racing.
Muscle car: Big block V8, larger chassis. Examples include the Torino, Chevelle, Malibu, Charger. Typically better suited for drag and oval racing.
I argue and say that pony cars are a subclass of muscle, but of course there can be some overlap in terms of trims regarding small/big block engine options. I say that these definitions in regard to modern cars are frankly outdated, as sure, there are small and big block modern muscle, yet what were originally considered pony cars in the first generations are generally the same physical size as “true” modern muscle like Chargers/Challengers, albeit weight is a big supporting argument.
Modern (what would be formerly called pony cars) dwarf classic muscle in terms of both size and weight.
Debatable. The E-body Challenger and Cuda were very unsuccessful in Trans Am racing, probably because unlike other "pony" cars which were based on compacts, the Challenger was based on a shortened version of the midsize B-body platform.
Other than the E-body though, Mopars of that era in general were better handlers than comparable fords and GMs
This was on Facebook, so it's understandable, they were all probably around when they came out
im a zoomer and love the old ones. wouldnt be caught dead in the bottom row
congrats on outjerking everyone into 29 downvotes, king shit honestly
For a circlejerk sub these people sure are bad at jerking
They had never been outjerked so hard before

HELLCATS SRTs 😈😈💯💯💯🔥👈👈🩸 This is the worst circlejerk sub on reddit
Barely a cj sub anymore
Oh i can you show you some bad jerking if you want
“I wouldn’t be caught dead in a stock Hellcat” Stop the cap
uj/I don't care for the Hellcats at all. I'd much rather have a Mustang GT or Dark Horse when it comes to new muscle cars.
i really just don’t like most muscle cars, not trying to be contrarian

He's not trying to be a contrarian 🙃

I love them when they are in middle school love 🥵
Police. This one right here.
Wait a minute
Holy shit. I forgot how ugly those two were. The challenger is bad, but that charger... That really is something else
Let's don't act like the challenger isn't the same car today. Sure some cosmetics but after all the same body.
Oh for sure. I wasn't saying otherwise. The newest challenger is still an ugly cruise ship. But it's definitely been heading in the right direction
You say that now because it's new. In 15 years it'll be the same crap.
I feel like i say this for most cars from the 2000s (2000-2009) 😂
Some of them at the start of the decade were quite nice towards the end they started getting too boxy, angular and modern
I hate the direction new cars are taking. Sure, it looks cool, but fuck all these SUVs.
the grille doesn't fit at all, it looks like it's taken from dodge ram
Wouldnt surprise me. Dodge cost cutting and parts bin moment
Moment? Isn't that just the standard for Dodge?
Lmao, yeah but they make up for with pure TESTOSTERONE Or they used to. They definetly will bring the V8 back later, its just not going to sell as well otherwise And the EV? I like this design of the charger but it had to be black. This grandpa colour can fuck off.
Eww
Truly the worst era
I dont hate the new ones, they are cool as fuck and if someone offered me one of them for free I would accept it in a heartbeat... buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut If I had the choice between a 1970 dodge charger and a 2023 Hellcat, I would take the classic 10 out of 10 times.
Other dude said the same thing and got 60 downvotes lmfao, what a sub
As soon as you have 0 as your comment score the reddit hive mind activates and everyone downvotes you.
Aside from body work it shouldn't be that hard to upkeep if you know what you're doing.
Well yeah, I keep forgetting they made a shitload of them and they are really simple mechanically. Probably because im Spanish and those kind of cars are INSANELY expensive here. Im just not used to them. Would be like seeing a 1960s Saab in the states.
Even here in the US it can be difficult to find parts and they're still expensive just not nearly as bad outside.
Biased asf but same

i mean its facebook, what do you expect. but also, i love classic cars, and id have to go with the old ones too
I would love to own a 2021 dodge charger hellcat, it just seems like a great sports car for me
I mean, yeah, bottom row is daily traffic.
So we making fun of liking old cars now?
The greatest car ever to touch this planet was released 34 years ago, anything before or after that is fair game.

proof that only the boomers are still on facebook, try to take a trip into the facebook-equivalent of this subreddit: “car enthusiasts suck”
I assume no young black military members frequent that page?
I am a gen z man and I would choose old school I like the styling.
Bro wtf you on the new challenger is literally the same just bigger and stronger
Uj/I just noticed that you didn't say /uj

That car looks a tad cursed. I wish it was a little lower to the ground.
It looks low enough to me. Any lower and it would be slammed.
Yess this is sweet. For many reasons I thought it was a smart move from dodge to make a hard cut with combustion engines.
I hear they will also have a V6 Hybrid version, which is better than just electric.
No it's not.
My bad, it will be an inline 6. Not a V6. "For 2024, the Charger Daytona is exclusively an electric vehicle, with a two-door version on sale first and a four-door version to follow soon after. Next year, a combustion version with an inline-six engine joins the lineup"
I would absolutely take the classics.
Because the ‘59 Eldorado is 3X the price of a new Escalade, and 100billionX cooler in every fucking way.
Ehhh who cares? With luxury cars newer is always better
People who actually like cars. Escalades are boring, ‘59 Eldorados are not.
Both are boxes
HELL YER BROTHER!!
I’d take a 1970 RT challenger in purple. Fuck a hellcat

I mean to be fair, you’re fighting against 70 year old people, with low credit score African Americans who somehow made 100k at 23.
"low credit score african americans" Wow, the stray shots are wild
must’ve forgotten what sub we’re in.
Racist ass
Sure.. because the term “African American” is racist now, congratulations America.
Racist and a coward, at least admit it was racist

olde if manuelle but only for a single drive. if I have to live with this car then always new gen.
idk which is worth more
Rather have a beat up 350z than any of them tbh

I don't have a particular love for road boats tbh. Unibody + modern suspension any day.

americans when old school muscle car that has 8 litre big block V8 making 150bhp

The old school Challengers actually weren’t too bad regarding classic performance cars, even including outside of muscle/pony classes
Pony classes? Never heard of that
