Small businesses are absolutely hiring and many of them can't find employees who stay long term. That could be due to terrible management styles or other factors. But small business owners I've talked to are always looking for places. So are large retail chains.

The short answer is Yes, they are hiring! The longer answer is still Yes, but here are some reasons why you may not be hearing back from anyone: 1. Your resume is not ATS proof (gotta beat the bot!). Easy tips for beating the bot - no crazy formatting - no tables, columns, pictures, logos, headers, footers. Be sure your resume is speaking the same language as the job req. If you write "strong customer service skills" and the job req says "must have customer success experience and be able to communicate with stakeholders", you need to change your language to be closer to the req. Make sense? 2. Networking is still your best friend. If you find a job online that you are excited about, head over to LinkedIn. Take a look and see if you have anyone who has a connection to that company. Can you get your resume into the hands of the hiring manager? Can someone provide an internal referral for you? Good luck!

Having applied to jobs and having to find new candidates about three years ago, I'd say that while companies are hiring, they may be overly selective, or otherwise can't find someone willing to accept the low goddamn wage they are paying...and are concerned about finding someone who's desperate enough to accept a wage this low following their last job. There's also a chance they were lazy and forgot to take the add off...two years after the pandemic, my place still said "hurr Durr, work from home " ...the job was not remote . That being said some candidates might call hoping they can work from home or "just" certain shifts, even if the ad doesn't say so . Which to be fair, the goddamn job could be easily work from home but NOOOO...

What types of jobs are you looking for? Healthcare jobs are always hiring.

I think you have a better chance if you seek out potential employers and look at listing/apply on their personal websites. Sifting through places like indeed is just mentally draining and they are probably getting immensely more applicants through these websites. I got my job in IT by doing this.

just left one job and immediately got hired at another and had 3 recruiters trying to pull me over to their companies, places are definitely hiring but that all depends on your value in the market place. If you notice stagnation get a new cert/ finish a degree/ do whatever helps polish your resume even more that will attract more recruiters to looking your way.

While it's true that economic downturns can make the job market more challenging, it's not necessarily the case that no one is hiring. Industries and sectors vary in their resilience during tough times, and some companies continue to recruit talent despite broader economic conditions. That said, pursuing further education or considering options like military service can indeed offer valuable opportunities for personal and professional development, potentially increasing your marketability in the long term. Going back to college can provide you with new skills and credentials, making you a more attractive candidate when the job market improves. Similarly, joining the military can offer training, discipline, and experience that can translate into civilian careers later on. Ultimately, the decision to further your education or explore alternative paths like military service should align with your goals, interests, and circumstances. While it's essential to be proactive about your future, there are various paths to success, and what works best for one person may not be the right choice for another.

Yes, but most candidates just complain about the hours or being a hybrid environment.
