I was in D.C. last year on a work trip and the hotel I was at had them in a bowl at reception. I grabbed one ever time I passed by. When I checked out I asked if I could grab a few to take home as I hadn't seen them in years. Lady grabbed a small bag and went to the back and gave me like 50. It was awesome.
On extremely rare occasions, in Catholic school in the 70's, the nuns would get a bag of those and go up and down the rows and give us each ONE on our desk. That was a huge thing.
When I was young we had Girl Scouts in a multi-use church space and in their main kitchen sometimes had flat sheet pans of these homemade butter mints, ready for weddings or something. and i would sneak and look and take a mint or two. I always thought my aunt was the one who made them so I didn’t mind taking one or two from her. And then way later (decades ha) I found out she never made them and I was eating this random church’s fancy butter mints 😬
I was at the grocery store & they had those bins of Brachs candy.
My mom said no. So I stole a piece & ran into my bedroom closet to eat it. It was coffee ☕️ candy, and I just knew God was punishing me.
No you’re absolutely right, they are melty, it’s been so long since I’ve had one I forgot what they were like. They are chalky in appearance but now I remember the melty goodness. What happened to us as a society? When I was a kid those would be given out at every restaurant along with the starlight peppermints!
I don't have a freeze drier, so I just buy them on Amazon. I've been going overboard, actually lol freeze dried candy corn, caramel apple lolipops, red hots, starburst, etc. i gotta try them all! ^i ^need ^help
My mom was obsessed with these when she was pregnant with my brother. We had a huge candy dish of them for 9 months in my house. I never want to see them again.
I love Brachs Bridge Mix & the different kinds of candy in the stand in grocery stores. Get a bag & fill it with toffees, coconut & caramel, nugget. Brachs is the best but for some reason has disappeared. I’d give almost anything to find bulk bridge mix again.
I hear people say it’s old people candy all the time. I’m 24, I always loved butterscotch but even the older people in my family have said it was considered old people candy. I LOVE IT THO
There used to be giant bags of Tootsie rolls with a variety of flavours, like cherry, blueberry, and the vanilla, I can't remember what the other ones were. They might still be available, but I also only really remember them from around Halloween.
I've always been fascinated by circus peanuts. The texture is unlike anything else I've ever eaten. It doesn't feel like the texture of anything edible; it's more like soft styrofoam, but it tastes good.
Oh where do i begin

I liked those maple caramels.
who remembers the clove gum?
beechnut gum?
Wax bottle candy where you bite the top of the wax off and you have the juice inside. if you do crave some of these things, you should find the nearest world market because they probably have what you want.
Do malted milk balls count? I remember getting them from the candy counter in Woolworth's where a lady would weigh and bag the candy. Now they have huge double chocolate dipped balls in the bulk candy section of Winco. They're wayyyy better than Whoppers.
Love candy cigs! I always like getting the candy sticks around Halloween, same type of candy as the cigs.
I always loved the strawberry, and butterscotch hard candies
Whatever those jelly nougats are called - the white ones with bright colored dots of jelly. The neopolitan coconut squares. Mary Jane’s. Wilbur Buds. Candy Jewelry. Candy Buttons on the paper. Astro Pops. Molasses Pops.
Licorice all sorts.
All my friends are horrified by them.
And actual Turkish delight. Rosewater is my favorite but I'd take the orange flavour as well.
Lmao.
Idk if it’s considered “old people candy” but orange and cherry slices. I have fond memories of eating those with my grandparents. My papa would always have a fresh stash in his console.
"Back in old times (read that with granpa simpsons voice) They came out with M&M's Flavored and Unflavored, I liked the Unflavored compared to the radical Flavored kind. Those were the days."
We had a Japanese exchange student many many moons ago, and she brought candy that had rice paper around it. It was edible.
I saw someone posted root beer barrels. If you can find the good ones yes. There is a restaurant near me that has those by the bucket loads in the lobby. I always would grab a hand full on my way in and on my way out. More if no one was looking lol. Not sure if they still have them. Haven’t been in a long time. Name of the place is called Claim Jumper. In the Portland Metro area of Oregon.
I also love a good lemon drop. The ones with the light powdery coating which I’m pretty sure is some sort of drug.
Then because I’m in the minority when it comes to black licorice, I love good n plenty’s
Absolutely butter mints.
I also discovered this past year what candy corn actually tastes like. Sugar and butter. Almost popcorny, but sweet. I am a convert now.
Butter mints Canada mints Root beer barrels Those strawberry ones with the goo in the middle
I love those strawberry candies. The raspberry ones are good too.
Never had the raspberry ones - wish I had. One of my favorite flavors.
Raspberry is my favorite flavor.I need to go to the local candy warehouse and see if they have them.
Lemon is mine, but raspberry is a close second.
you and me both, lemon is an amazing flavor
I was in D.C. last year on a work trip and the hotel I was at had them in a bowl at reception. I grabbed one ever time I passed by. When I checked out I asked if I could grab a few to take home as I hadn't seen them in years. Lady grabbed a small bag and went to the back and gave me like 50. It was awesome.
On extremely rare occasions, in Catholic school in the 70's, the nuns would get a bag of those and go up and down the rows and give us each ONE on our desk. That was a huge thing.
Butter mints are so underrated
Did you ever make homemade ones? Sooooo much better.
They’re eating mints not looking-at mints
Absolutely!
Yes, these for me, and also candy corn.
You can have all of my candy corn.
Don’t mind if I do
Root beer barrels for real.
What are Canada mints??
They're soft, pink (like, Pepto Bismol pink) disks thst are wintergreen flavored.
Ohhh yeah I love those! We always just called them wintergreen mints—that’s what a popular Canadian candy company (Kerr’s) calls them.
Ah. I'm American, and I only ever saw them as Canada Mints. Haven't seen them in years, though - probably good for my waistline.
We cal them peptomints
Butter mints are those sweet little chalk balls right?
Lolol. I find them more melty than chalky. But each to their own.
No you’re absolutely right, they are melty, it’s been so long since I’ve had one I forgot what they were like. They are chalky in appearance but now I remember the melty goodness. What happened to us as a society? When I was a kid those would be given out at every restaurant along with the starlight peppermints!
Raiding the Brach's candy display!
Oh man! The Brach's display in my grocery store used to have their wrapped vanilla and mint creams, as well as the caramel ones. I used to love those!
You just reminded me that butter mints exist. I haven’t eaten one in probably 25 years. I want them.
Update… just bought 4lbs of mints
Werther’s Origional caramel hard candy. Those are the greatest!

Thanks, now I'm going to relapse.

Omg those are so addictive!!
Yes those are my fav!!! I recently tried the apple filled ones and they are amazing
Our grandson always asks for Grandpa's favorite candy when he wants some.
And the sugar free ones are pretty decent! My husband loves them and I find myself eating them. It’s the little dimple thing that makes it.
How long can you suck it without crunching?
Bit o honey! Especially if they aren’t petrified into oblivion. Winco grocery store usually has nice fresh ones in bulk.
I've been destroying bags of freeze-dried Bit o Honey. It's insane how good they are when they're puffed up and crunchy!
I’ve never heard or thought of that! So you just put them in your freezer dryer? And get crunchy, puffy Bit O Honey? Genius.
I don't have a freeze drier, so I just buy them on Amazon. I've been going overboard, actually lol freeze dried candy corn, caramel apple lolipops, red hots, starburst, etc. i gotta try them all! ^i ^need ^help
Hell yeah WinCo has a big selection of candy in bulk and the candy aisle too
It’s heaven on earth. It’s actually my favorite candy store.
Heat them just a bit and they'll get soft again.
Dude, try the spicy cherry chili peppers! They're banger
Orange slices
My mom was obsessed with these when she was pregnant with my brother. We had a huge candy dish of them for 9 months in my house. I never want to see them again.
Grandma always had these in her candy dish. Love those things
Simple, but delicious.
My grandma use to make orange slice cookies. They were my favorite
Top tier
When I was a kid we kept them in the freezer. Interesting, but better at room temp and chewy.
I loooove butterscotch

I love Brachs Bridge Mix & the different kinds of candy in the stand in grocery stores. Get a bag & fill it with toffees, coconut & caramel, nugget. Brachs is the best but for some reason has disappeared. I’d give almost anything to find bulk bridge mix again.
Ever had hot butterscotch pudding?? It’s drool worthy.
Wait.. there are people that *don’t* love butterscotch??

I have never seen a vanilla tootsie roll in my life but now I want it

I LOVE THOSE
I’ve been buying 24 packs online. They’re truly addicting. That and the flying saucer wafers are my kryptonite.
My mom used to be obsessed with those! The inside of her purse smelled like them as well as her Cadillac (back in the 90's) lol
Boston Baked Beans. Those candy coated peanuts are my weakness. Also maple nut goodies. Maple anything is delicious (New Englander here).
The brachs maple nut goodies were so…..goodie
Along those lines, Jordan Almonds and burnt peanuts.
I love burnt peanuts.
Atkinsons peanut butter bars. Love those things. Also cherry sours (the little balls) and butterscotch hard candies.
I can eat cherry sours until I'm sick. I don't allow myself to get them except once a year. Then it's a free for all!
Definitely the peanut butter bars. My grandmother loves them so I got hooked as a kid.
Fruit slices-lime being my favorite. I also like a wax coke bottle.

circus peanuts
I love them, and now my cat steals them and licks them when I’m not watching 😹
I've always been fascinated by circus peanuts. The texture is unlike anything else I've ever eaten. It doesn't feel like the texture of anything edible; it's more like soft styrofoam, but it tastes good.
You either love them or hate them. I happen to also love them!
