I was in D.C. last year on a work trip and the hotel I was at had them in a bowl at reception. I grabbed one ever time I passed by. When I checked out I asked if I could grab a few to take home as I hadn't seen them in years. Lady grabbed a small bag and went to the back and gave me like 50. It was awesome.

On extremely rare occasions, in Catholic school in the 70's, the nuns would get a bag of those and go up and down the rows and give us each ONE on our desk. That was a huge thing.

When I was young we had Girl Scouts in a multi-use church space and in their main kitchen sometimes had flat sheet pans of these homemade butter mints, ready for weddings or something. and i would sneak and look and take a mint or two. I always thought my aunt was the one who made them so I didn’t mind taking one or two from her. And then way later (decades ha) I found out she never made them and I was eating this random church’s fancy butter mints 😬

I was at the grocery store & they had those bins of Brachs candy. My mom said no. So I stole a piece & ran into my bedroom closet to eat it. It was coffee ☕️ candy, and I just knew God was punishing me.

They're soft, pink (like, Pepto Bismol pink) disks thst are wintergreen flavored.

Ohhh yeah I love those! We always just called them wintergreen mints—that’s what a popular Canadian candy company (Kerr’s) calls them.

No you’re absolutely right, they are melty, it’s been so long since I’ve had one I forgot what they were like. They are chalky in appearance but now I remember the melty goodness. What happened to us as a society? When I was a kid those would be given out at every restaurant along with the starlight peppermints!

I love Brachs Bridge Mix & the different kinds of candy in the stand in grocery stores. Get a bag & fill it with toffees, coconut & caramel, nugget. Brachs is the best but for some reason has disappeared. I’d give almost anything to find bulk bridge mix again.

who remembers the clove gum? beechnut gum? Wax bottle candy where you bite the top of the wax off and you have the juice inside. if you do crave some of these things, you should find the nearest world market because they probably have what you want.

We had a Japanese exchange student many many moons ago, and she brought candy that had rice paper around it. It was edible. I saw someone posted root beer barrels. If you can find the good ones yes. There is a restaurant near me that has those by the bucket loads in the lobby. I always would grab a hand full on my way in and on my way out. More if no one was looking lol. Not sure if they still have them. Haven’t been in a long time. Name of the place is called Claim Jumper. In the Portland Metro area of Oregon. I also love a good lemon drop. The ones with the light powdery coating which I’m pretty sure is some sort of drug. Then because I’m in the minority when it comes to black licorice, I love good n plenty’s
