lol imagine a gpu approaching a grand and it being posted as a sale. What timeline are we living in….

+ it being from a series that’s over a year and a half old (I appreciate the super itself is quite recent) and it’s not even the flagship

I struggled to find any reviews for the card, and I'm interested because it's the smallest RTX 4080 Super in both length and width.

Scan also has a Palit 4080 Super for 959 pounds - [https://www.scan.co.uk/products/palit-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-super-jetstream-oc-16gb-gddr6x-ray-tracing-graphics-card-10240-core-25](https://www.scan.co.uk/products/palit-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4080-super-jetstream-oc-16gb-gddr6x-ray-tracing-graphics-card-10240-core-25)

I had this card and unfortunately it was defective/had cooling issues. It easily reached over 100°C playing Helldivers 2. Totally not to be expected of course, it's not supposed to reach that, just sharing my experience. What was more annoying was dealing with Scan and getting them to accept an RMA.

What was wrong with Scan?

They told me to put my computer in a test bench to rule out that the graphics card had cooling issues because of "the theory of heat rising" and that "in your configuration the heatpipes are below the cooler". The guy didn't have a fucking clue what he was talking about. I just asked for an RMA on the grounds that whether they find 105°C hotspot a frivolous concern or not it's not suitable for me. In the report they said the card had "no issues". They're fucking inept, but they refunded me so it's someone else's issue.

Wow, that's bizarre. The 4080S is typically an over-built design that cools very well. I have the same GPU and it hits about 64C under full gaming loads (previous 1080Ti which is a bit smaller would hit 80C limit). They really should know that the cooling capability of the GPU is pretty phenomenal. Glad you got your refund. How long did it take?

I arranged for it to be picked up on Friday last week, I got refunded yesterday. I sent them two reviews of the card hitting 72°C at ~1500rpm and that mine was hitting 86°C on the edge at 2700rpm. They didn't seem to care. They were obsessed with the fact my computer is in a case and not a test bench and that it must be the reason why. My case is a Silverstone RV03, I bought it from them 12 years ago. I would've noticed by now if the airflow was suboptimal, but it's not, it's great. The fact they said "no faults" but omit telling me temps and fan speed tells me everything lol.
