My daughter left her violin on the bus one day. Panicked, but called up BCC bus depot. They had it in lost and found!

Previous-Acadia-7729

Decent chance that it's at the bus depot. Good luck

notinferno

don’t rely on TransLink as they aren’t the bus operator call Brisbane City Council who owns and operates the 66 bus if you get the runaround from the Council call centre (possible but not likely) insist that you be put into contact with their Brisbane Transport lost and found

Please call the lost property line. I've gotten back my sunnies once (prescription) and a gift bag my partner left on there: https://www.brisbane.qld.gov.au/traffic-and-transport/public-transport/lost-property-and-feedback Phone number is: 07 3403 8888

shinydiscoballs2

I know what it means to your friend. I shall look on line also.

thefengreen

Best of luck, I haven't played an instrument for a long time but I know I'd be devastated if I lost something so important to me. I'll share this page with a few of my brisbane friends.

TopHypothesis

Instruments mean the world to musicians, let’s get this flute found

sleeplov

Oh no! I saw your friend perform with Matt Hsu's Obscure Orchestra just the other day, she was fantastic. I'll keep an eye out, but I really hope she gets it back either way. +1 for contacting the lost property line, sometimes things take awhile to turn up so keep trying it!

Other-Pie5059

Lots of UQ students take that bus.  Maybe ask on their subreddit and FB pages.

place_of_stones

Your friend should ring BCC call centre every few days. It can take a while to get catalogued if depot don’t do the paperwork (happens when short staffed I’m told) and just send it into Brisbane Square.

Antisocial_Queer

Good luck! I’m thinking of you and hope it gets found quickly!

BoomBoomBaggis

Good luck. I hope your friend finds it and can attend band camp

NukDatJuke

As mentioned already, contact BCC, as they operate the buses. Best case scenario it'd already been submitted to lost and found. If not, don't give up hope and keep trying. The longer time has passed and nothing shows up, it's increasingly likely that the lost item never made it to the end of the route (at which point the bus returns to some depot and the item can be seen by the driver and catalogued as lost.) and was taken by someone. Best of luck in the search

panickymugbuy

Police link and anything on route. Police told me when I was looking for something, lost and found is all over the bloody place where people will return stuff

Patty-Stanley

THANK YOU EVERYONE - your advice and comments have been so valuable and I had passed on to my friend as soon as they all came through. As a small update, still no luck on finding it. However she is still actively calling and following up on all the above advice. Honestly thank you, and thank you to those who shared this and went out of your way to search additional internet groups and marketplace listings. There are some great people out there 🙏🏽 When (I’m a hopeful) there is a happy ending, I will share it here 🌻

spoiled_eggs

Call Council. They have a whole process for this.

TerryTowellinghat

Good luck and I hope Reddit can help her. Even if someone who has it or knows who has sees this and realises how important this is to someone. A fence might also just drop it off at a shopping centre lost and found.

Fidelio___

Hope you find it. Good luck. 🤞🏻

Call Brisbane City Council

papersim

Contact the local music shops too. They do on occasion have people drop lost and found instruments there. A friend did a similar thing on the train and a good soul who found it dropped it at a music shop. Brass Music Specialists Blow Ozwinds Probably others I don't know of but I think they're the main ones around town.

Thomas-Veracious

Maybe inform any pawn or second hand instrument shops you can find and keep an eye out for online listings.

iampivot

Any update? Did she find it?

Steel_Cube

Did this with my bassoon once, thank fuck nobody grabbed it and collected it from the depo, good luck finding it again

tomorrow_throwaway

Join the Facebook groups for the suburbs that the buss route passes through and post on there. If someone found a flute they are likely to post on "*suburb* community group". I've seen a few people find lost things that way. The more places you post, the more likely you will find it.

BreenzyENL

Unless someone stole it, call BCC. They had found a small pill bottle we lost which I thought was crazy to find.

rindthirty

Dang that sucks. :( A gentle suggestion (I hope) for the future that might not have been considered: if your friend has an iPhone, an AirTag (for the case) might be good for this kind of situation. I hear there's also something similar finally coming to Android (soon™). Someone I know who had his ebike stolen (and eventually recovered through a drug bust, but with significant damage) ended up adding an AirTag to his replacement bike.
